Guardian Angel

Chapter 1: Intro

It had been seven years since Dr. Eggman was defeated by Sonic the Hedgehog for the last time. Ever since then, the world has been a better place. Crimes and misdeeds were not gone entirely, but nothing was as bad as anything the scientist had done in his time.

My friends and I had the chance to pursue opportunities we had not before and live out dreams we had wanted for a long time. My best friend Tangle was able to put her athleticism to the test in a number of sports, even joining the Olympics with our other friends. Jewel still maintains her mineral museum with the Warp Topaz as a main attraction. Cream had become the leader of the Restoration six months ago taking Amy Rose's place. She's become the hero we all saw her as when she was only a child.

Then there's me, Whisper.

Since that day, my wisps and I had taken up gardening thanks to Silver. He showed me the garden he had made along with our friend Blaze all those years ago. When he's not around, I keep it running giving what we grow to the villagers. Every now and then I get a surprise visit from one of my friends, but today was different.

As I was loading fresh tomatoes and lettuce into some crates, Mantis had heard a familiar voice over the horizon and called out to me.

"Whisper!"

I took one look and saw Tangle riding up on her bike. She swerved to a stop just missing the carrots. I couldn't help but smile at her. "H'lo, Tangle."

Tangle, being her usual energetic self, quickly embraced me with both her arms and her tail. "It's good to see you again. Still rockin' the country gal look, I see." She giggled a bit as the wisps did the same.

She still knows how to embarrass me easily, especially around Silver. Still, I can't stay mad at her. "Here for a shipment?" I held up one of the crates.

"How much do you have?"

"I'll give you all I have and nothing less. I promise." As I went to get more crates, I ended up bumping into another familiar face. My other friend and the garden owner himself, Silver.

"Oh, sorry Whisper. I didn't mean to just pop in."

I brushed my bangs from my face looking at him. "It's no trouble, Silver." It's not that often someone sees my eyes like this. "What brings you here early?"

"Well I was checking in with everyone, and when I was in Spiral Village I found this a note outside of Jewel's museum." Silver took out the note as it had been torn.

I took one good look at the note as it read just four words:

'Don't look for me.'

"Silver,…when you found this note, was it pinned with a combat knife?"

"It was, actually. How did you know?"

At that moment I knew who the note was from and rushed into the tool shed alone.

Tangle walked over looking at the note scratching her head a bit. "This handwriting looks familiar, but I don't know for sure if it's…"

Silver interrupted her before she finished her sentence. "Whipser? What are you doing?"

I had stepped out of the tool shed in my Diamond Cutter gear. The wisps came to my side as I held my wispon in hand. "I need to pay someone a visit."
