Hey guys! I'm back!!!! I'm so excited and happy and as celebration I've created a little one-shot for your enjoyment.
This takes place before (SPOILERS) - Crisis in infinite earths
Have a good day and I'm just borrowing these guys so don't worry!
The city had been quarantined for a total of 3 weeks. In those three weeks, crime had slowed down drastically.
He used to think he wanted a break, wanted the crime to stop but Barry was bored.
Bored out of his mind. He sat looking at the monitors most days, trying to find crime. The CCPD had laid off most officers to protect them from the virus; Barry included.
He would've been helping at the hospital but Iris had basically begged him not to go. The virus; Covid-19, had killed a total of 12,789 people in Central City.
The total number of cases topped 87,000 of the 300,000 person population. It was considered one of the most deadliest pandemics ever in Central City.
No one Barry personally knew had gotten it yet but he was just waiting for Joe or Cisco to call up and say they were sick.
Even with his advanced healing there was still a risk. The city wasn't the only thing that was quiet, Barry was the only one in Star Labs.
He had told Caitlin and Cisco to go home, to stay safe. He didn't want to risk their lives just to look at monitors.
And isn't that what it was? Even going outside posed a risk. The virus was highly contagious and even touching something could get you sick.
So here Barry was, doing nothing once again and looking at the monitors. He sighed and turned off the monitor then stood up and stretched.
Another day with no crime. He made sure his crime alert watch was turned on and headed out of Star Labs.
The streets were absolutely deserted and Barry was in awe at how quiet the city was. He was driving a Star Lab van not wanting to use his speed at the moment.
Iris was at home and most likely talking to Joe over the phone. Iris had been worried about Joe, who had food poisoning a few weeks ago. You never knew what this virus could do.
Barrry unlocked the apartment door and found Iris at the stove cooking.
'What are you making sweetheart?'
'I found this new recipe online called Spring Vegetable Rice and thought we could try it.'
Barry smiled and hugged Iris from behind kissing her neck. Iris giggled and shook him off her. 'Go set the table, flash!'
Barry chuckled and got two sets of silverware out. 'Heard from Joe lately?'
'Yeah, he's been feeling great and isn't as concerned as I am. He is laying low and staying inside which is a relief.'
Barry finished setting the table and laughed. 'He's fine, we're fine, everything's fine.'
Iris sighed and turned around with a bowl full of rice. 'No, it's not Barry. This city is falling apart in front of our eyes and for once it's not a villain who caused it.'
'It'll be okay, Central City has gone through worse.'
Iris shook her head and sat down, Barry copying her actions. 'It shouldn't have too.'
Barry nodded in agreement and the couple ate silently. After the rice was devoured and the bowls emptied, the conversation picked back up.
'Have you heard from Oliver lately?'
Barry sighed sadly. 'No, I just hope they're okay. I know the virus is affecting everyone and Star City isn't excluded.'
Iris cuddled Barry on the couch and held his hand reassuringly. 'This is a hard time in everyone's lives right now but your optimism must be spreading.'
Barry laughed and looked down at Iris curiously. 'How's that?'
'Because I have hope that everything will turn out all right.'
Barry laughed and shook his head fondly. 'You do amaze me Iris West-Allen, you amaze me indeed.'
Iris smiled in reply and made her way to the bathroom, getting ready for bed.
Barry followed and the couple did their nightly routine.
When both were in bed, with Iris half on Barry's chest and Barry's eyes half-lidded; Iris couldn't help but smile.
This pandemic may have taken homes and ruined lives but Iris knew that she would not let the virus rob her of her hope.
With that thought in mind, she closed her eyes and joined her husband in a peaceful sleep.
Hope you guys enjoyed this little one-shot and
I'm happy to announce that I'm officially back!
I hope everyone stays safe and please, please, please look out for everyone and give everyone some love. This is the time to come together!
Love you all so much,
Catnip. No way man.
