Sam: Well, he had been the Devil, that much was safe to say. He had quite literally stared him in the eye. He'd lost some battles along the way, but he'd won some too- he'd always have to keep reminding himself about that. In turn, he'd been an angel too, even if it had been one who had fallen not quite so gracefully.
Sam had never wanted to be hero, but the forces of Heaven and Hell always seemed to have other ideas. So, it seemed, did all the forces that came between.
Here was a man who had been thrust headfirst into the life of a hunter. He'd never known any different. Sure, he'd tried, several times in fact- but in the end, it would never be a happy ending. Sam would never save the world, get the girl; settle down with a dog and have a few Winchester spawn. No, him and his brother Dean- that story only ends one way. They'd go down kicking, screaming and bloody.
Dean: "You always have a choice. You can either roll over and die, or you can keep fighting. No matter what."
Wasn't that the truth- Sam had never given up, he'd always fought for what he had believed to be right. Although it did sometimes lead him to some more than questionable places in his lifetime. In bed with a werewolf, to name just one; or to drink the blood of a demon to name just another.
Those were times, like many others, that those damn brothers had come out on top. They couldn't just sit down and die like the good little toy soldiers they are. I can't help but smile writing this, for they won't expect what's coming next.
You see, every story needs its cast of characters. It needs, heroes and villains; the same way any story needs a beginning, a middle and an end. Yeah, the apocalypse, that was my idea. Hiding away and watching Michael and Lucifer go for broke. I can't tell you how good that made me feel inside. My soldiers, doing my bidding at a click of my fingers.
This story has been going on for far too long. Every other incarnation of these boys had bended and broken at some point. I must go bigger this time- this reality has a Sam and Dean that will never back down. Yes, this time I need to be personally involved. I'll play with them a little to begin with, I'll push them until they can't take it anymore. They'll never see it coming.
I'll lead them to believe they can win this fight. I'll lead them right up until they knock right on their so-called destinies door. When they open it, all they'll find is pain and horror- and me.
Their deaths will be the beginning of the end for my once great creations. They made me do this, and at last, the whole of humanity will pay the price.
Yeah, you've probably already figured out who I am. But it doesn't matter, you'll never be able to warn them. You'll be dead long before that. The Winchesters will soon follow in your bloody footsteps.
This time, there will be no more heroes. This time, there will be no happy endings. No, there will be none of that.
There will just be the Darkness⦠and there will be me.
