Jane sat in her room reading a book, or at least, attempting to. Ever since she'd closed off the gate, things had become relatively normal. Hopper had started sharing more information with her, as to lessen the secrets between them. He said he had a new goal for them.

"Goal?" Jane asked in confusion.

"It's something you're trying to do or to get at." Hopper searched for

the right explanation. "A goal is something you want to achieve."

"Goal…" she mused. It was like she was tasting the word, to see

whether she liked this idea or not.

"You and me as a family? What'd ya think, kid?" As much of one as they could be, at least.

"Like before?" Jane offered.

Hopper nodded. "Like before, but this time no more lab experiments, no more lies, and no more leaving without telling each other." They sat, thinking about all the ramifications and changes that would have to take place.

"Good," Jane said, looking up at him after a moment of silence. "Good goal." She reached out for his hand. "Not stupid," she said, grinning.
