"Honey believe me...I'll have your heart on a platter.", Annabel hummed, adjusting the pearl necklace. It was her "wedding" day. It was her "wedding" day and her "groom", Lucas stood at the altar, hands tied behind his back. Annabel checked herself in the mirror, making sure her dress wasn't wrinkled. She walked out, holding her bouquet, to Lucas. The priest was ready to start the ceremony. " As we gather here under the eyes of God, let us also recognize the seriousness of the occasion. Marriage is a profound, sincere commitment, and one worthy of our reverence. The Bible makes note of the power of partnership in Ecclesiastes. It reminds us that "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?"
I will now invite the Groom and Bride to exchange their vows.", the priest (who in all actuality was just Matthew Patel), said. First he gestured to Lucas. "Lucas, your vows?", Matthew asked. Lucas hesitantly nodded. "A-A-Annabel, today I take you to be my Wife. As we join our lives together, I vow to be supportive, caring, and honest with you always. I promise to hold you close, to respect you fully, and to love you deeply. As your companion, your partner, and your best friend, I promise to stay by your side through thick and thin. I la-la-LOVE you with all my heart, and I plan to remind you of that every day, from this day forward. ", Lucas said, tearing up not from love but from fear. "And Annabel?", Ramona's..unpopular asked, to progress the vows. " Lucas, today I take you to be my Husband. As we join our lives together, I vow to be supportive, caring, and honest with you always. I promise to cherish you daily, to respect you fully, and to love you deeply. As your companion, your partner, and your best friend, I promise to stay by your side through thick and thin. I love you with all my heart, and I plan to remind you of that every day, from this day forward.", Annabel said, happily. "Lucas and Annabel, you will now hold hands.", Matthew said. "Lucas, do you take Annabel as your Wife and your companion? Do you promise to share her laughter during the good times and wipe her tears during the bad, from this day forward?", Matthew asked. "I..I do.", Lucas said shamefully. He wanted to say "I don't" with all of his heart's content but god knew what Annabel would do to him if he didn't. "And Annabel?", the 5'8 Indian asked. "I do.", Annabel squealed. "Let us proceed.", Matt said. "Although you have spoken the words to finalize your commitment, you will now officially seal your union with the smashing of the glass. It is tradition that once the glass is shattered, we shall all shout "Mazel Tov".
As Matthew delivered the message, Todd wrapped the glass in white cloth and placed it on the floor before the couple. Once it was in place, Lucas (hesitantly) and Annabel stomped the glass.
"This glass, now shattered, may never be reassembled. Similarly, the bond you have consecrated today is a permanent one. Your lives are now forever joined together through faith, love, and a sense of duty to one another.", Matthew said. "The wedding ring is a symbol of the unending power of love between two beings. Its circular shape has no beginning and no end, representing a boundless spiritual connection. The rings should be worn proudly as a symbol of the commitment between you and your spouse. Even when you find yourselves apart, your rings will provide a powerful reminder of the eternal love you share.", he continued. "Please repeat after me."
"With this ring, I, Annabel, commit my love to you, Lucas, for all time, giving you all that I am and all that I will be. Please accept it as a symbol of my love.", Annabel said, excitement in her eyes. "With this ring, I, Lucas, commit my love to you, Annabel for all time, giving you all that I am and all that I will be. Please accept it as a symbol of my love.", Lucas said, looking down at his untied hands, courtesy of Ken and Kyle. "Family and friends, by the power vested in me by the Resurrection Of Christ Church and by the province of Toronto, I now formally pronounce Lucas and Annabel to be Husband and Wife. Let us celebrate their union!", Matthew said triumphantly. "You may now kiss the bride!", he continued. Annabel closed her eyes, fortunately for Lucas. He made it seemed like he kissed her, but in all actuality, he sped out of the room and brought back one of his stunt doubles/clones he had prepared to finish the wedding FOR him. And so Annabel never found out the truth.
