Hey everyone, TheKingHHH100 here! Today I got something special, a new story but not one that is technically an invention of my own. This story was inspired by a video I watched on YouTube (Yeah, I actually get a lot of ideas just by watching videos) made by a channel called 'Loon Lagoon Productions' which is an Ed, Edd n' Eddy fan-made film. I highly suggest you watch along with other things in the channel (they also made a longer EENE movie which I may write about someday). It's, at least in my opinion, a great ova to the series, and something you'll really like if you're a fan, so I wanted to give it a try at making a novel version of it, with some additional touches of my own.
I'll leave a link here to the video in case you want to watch it: watch?v=Y_HEhE0Fpec
As always tell me what you think, if you liked the video and if you think the story does it justice. I'm not affiliated to this channel, I just liked what they did and you can also support them if you want. I also don't own Ed, Edd n' Eddy or any of its characters, all rights and credits go to Danny Antonucci, as well as the people in Loon Lagoon Productions for making the video and giving me the idea for this fic.
Anyways, on to the story!
Ed, Edd n Eddy in 'This is Growing Ed'.
In the middle of a small Cul-da-sac, we can see two boys, one is holding a sign that read 'Welcome home Ed!'
The other one was shorter than him, had spiky hair and wore a yellow t-shirt with a vertical red stripe. His name was Eddy.
The one holding the sign had a black ski hat with some long hair sticking out, wore a red t-shirt and was holding the aforementioned sign. His name was Edd, known as 'Double D' to most.
They had been waiting for what felt like hours. Today was the day his best friend, other than each other, returned from the Navy. His parents had enlisted him as soon as he had turned eighteen. They were now all in fact considered young adults, though some would question how 'adult' in fact they were.
Eddy lit his cigarette and took a puff out of it. Double D didn't approve of Eddy taking to the habit and had made him know many times. Today was no different. "You know Eddy, you shouldn't really smoke, they're very hazardous for your heart and lungs."
"Put a lid on it, Double D" Eddy answered as he pulled Double D's hat over his face.
"Hey!" the hat wearing boy complained.
"Ace for horses, Sockhead!" Eddy exclaimed as he took another puff, this time purposely exhaling the smoke to Double D's face.
"Please exhale your bio fumes towards Chicago!" Double D complained as he waved his hand frenetically, trying to get the smoke away from entering his lungs.
"Sue me."
As the two argued, a happy-go-lucky boy walked across the street while laughing. This boy was taller than the other two, had short red-hair and a monobrow, and wore a white and red stripped t-shirt with a green jacket. His name was Ed.
He continued to walk until he hit the street sign, face first. The sign shook repeatedly from this, but Ed shook it off instantly. He turned around and saw his two best friends, Eddy and Double D, waiting for him. At first he didn't notice them, but then realization fell upon him. "Next spot, come here boy!"
"Oh dear…" Double D muttered as he saw his friend charge at them and braced himself. His reaction was justified as soon as Ed reached them and pulled him and Eddy into a bone-crushing bear hug.
"We're three once again! Like run, skip and jump! Up, up and away! And blah, blah and another blah!" Ed exclaimed in joy, not realizing his friends were desperately trying to break free from his grasp. "I missed you so!"
"Alright, I missed you too, Lumpy!" Eddy managed to say as he patted Ed on the back, hoping to calm the gentle giant in order for him to let them go.
"I didn't miss your brute strength…" Double D muttered from under Ed's arm.
Finally, he released them and took a step back as he laughed. "In the Navy, they yell at me and say wake up! Make your rack mister! No talking! On your six-pack!" he explained as he dropped to the ground and began doing pushups. "Down, up! Down, up! And I, uhhh… And then I, uhhh… I forget the rest haha!" he said as he got back on his feet after some repetitions.
Eddy and Double D just looked at him with a blank stare on their faces. The dumb lovable oaf they remembered hadn't changed at all. "Boy I am glad to see you guys! Come, let's muster at my place and catch up!" he exclaimed as he began pushing his friends towards his house.
Hours later, after stuffing themselves with food and chatting about, the Eds were in Ed's living room, each doing a different activity. Eddy and Ed were on their phones, while Double D was tuning his guitar. He had taken to playing the instrument a few years ago. Eddy was texting with his girlfriend, Lee Kanker (Yes, they had in fact started dating once puberty had hit after years of her chasing him).
Happy birthday baby boo love you
Awwwww Love u too Lee
Yes, today was in fact Eddy's 21 birthday, and he was spending it as he liked, with his two best friends in the whole world.
Ed meanwhile was laughing as he watched a video on his phone. "Oh boy that is funny! Have you guys seen Jonny and Plank's new web series?" he asked as he turned his head to look at his friends. He then played the video he was watching, with max volume so they could hear it too.
There we can see an aged Jonny 2x4, along with his best friend Plank, which is actually just a piece of wood with a face drawn on it, doing what was described as a 'roast battle'.
"What's up everyone?!" Jonny saluted the viewers. "What's up Plank?!" he saluted his friend.
Plank didn't reply anything since… well I just told you why. Instead, Jonny put it on his ear as if it was whispering something. "Oh, never mind. My name is Jonny 2x4 and we're about to get right into it haha!" Jonny exclaimed as he put Plank over a stool.
"Imma sit you right there because that's for your height, you know what I'm saying? That's… that's definitely for your height… but we better get right into it, man!" Jonny clapped his hands.
Round 1
"Alright, so this is my first round! You feel me, Plank? Yeah!" Jonny began to rap. "You're ready? You're ready? I know that you're ready! Yeah!" Jonny clapped his hands once again. "So, yo' mama is so dumb that if someone would do a mug 'bout her, she'll tell the police she got a mug!"
A laugh track started playing as Jonny celebrated. "Yeah! Yeah! Oh! Your turn buddy! Your turn Plank!" Jonny invited. However, no one responded to him for obvious reasons…
"Well damn, someone's been practicing! That was good man!" Jonny complimented although no one had said anything other than him. He tried to hive-five Plank, but got no response since… well, since Plank didn't have hands, so he ended up high-fiving himself.

Round 2
The camera stared at Plank, which didn't say anything because… you get it. Jonny came next to it and started whispering. "C'mon buddy… I said you know what I'm saying… I shared the information with you in private…" Jonny said seemingly to no one as he paused and waited for a response, like he was having a conversation with himself… "It's good, it's good man… You know what I'm saying, social politely and all of that… It's good, it's good…"
Ed was laughing while watching all of this. His two friends didn't seem to get it though. Double D had finally stopped tuning his guitar and began to play it (he played the song from 'Avast Ye Eds'). "Still got it!" he proudly nodded to himself once he stopped. He then put the guitar aside and looked between his two friends before breaking the silence. "So, Ed, when are you going back?" he asked.
"Uhhh…" Ed doubted for a moment as he looked at his hands, trying to use his fingers to count. "Does weeks" he said as he showed two of his fingers. Eddy took his eyes of his cellphone and looked at this with a mix of surprise and disgust.
"Two weeks?! That's it?!" he exclaimed. "I keep my Monobrow-bro for two weeks?! That's lame man, in two weeks Ed's going back to the Navy, and a week after that Double D goes back to his fancy-schmancy university, meanwhile I'm stuck here in Peach Creek washing cars!" Eddy said with annoyance. "We should be doing something with this precious time!"
Double D sighed. "And what is that exactly? Another elaborate scam of yours?" he asked with a mocking tone.
Eddy pitched the bridge of his nose. He stood up and looked at them. "I'm twenty one, you guys are over twenty one… all I say is… let's freak out tonight baby!" he exclaimed as he jumped over the armchair he was sitting seconds ago.
"You got a point, but only if we drink responsibly and-" Double D began before being interrupted by Eddy.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say, Sockhead..." Eddy said while rolling his eyes.
"My mother tells me I don't need any naughty water because I'm messed up as it is" Ed randomly pointed out.
Double D just stared at him with a weird look on his face. "That's good Ed…" He then turned back to Eddy. "We've never been plastered before, we don't know our limits!" he exclaimed.
"Speak for yourself…" Eddy told him.
Double D frowned at him. "We should pace ourselves, that's all I'm implicating."
"Relax!" Eddy said while sitting next to him. "You're with your bros! Me and Lumpy!" Eddy reassured while pointing at himself and then at Ed, who was picking his nose. "Have I steered you wrong before?" Eddy asked.
Double D was about to give an obvious respond but Eddy put his hand over his mouth. "Zip it. Loosen up!" he exclaimed while shaking him around. "For crying out loud! We're all over twenty years old! What we're doing is perfectly legal" Eddy assured.
"Frigid frigid bacon and eggs!" Ed shouted out of the blue.
"Ed gets it!" Eddy said while giving Ed a high-five.
Double D sighed in defeat. "Ah, alright."
"Let's make a pint, hit me with it!" Ed exclaimed.
So they began drinking what would be many beer cans and predictably got pretty wasted. By the time they began to get drunk, they decided to start making pranks by ringing doorbells and running away before the door was answered… starting with the house they were in.
So, they went outside and Eddy was first, while Ed and Double D hide behind a tree. Eddy drunkenly got to the door and ringed the bell after many missing attempts. He then ran away, almost tripping as he did so, and hide with his two pals. The door was answered by Sarah, Ed's all-grown-up sister, who looked around and after finding nobody was there, she simply rolled her eyes in annoyance and went back inside.
Double D was next, despite not wanting to, Eddy forced him to do it anyways. He got to the door, a bit cleaner than Eddy since he was a bit fresher, and ran the bell, with some missing attempts nonetheless. He also got out of there faster, and when Sarah opened the door she again saw no one was there. She deduced someone was playing a prank on her and angrily shot the door.
Finally, it was Ed's turn. He got to the door after finishing his entire can in one sip and proceeded to ring the bell repeatedly, after so many missing attempts. This being Ed, and being quite drunk, forgot to run and when Sarah opened the door this time, she found his older brother there smiling at her. She proceeded to beat him up, thinking it had been him ringing the doorbell the entire time, while his two friends cringed from behind the tree.
After that, they went to the old playground they used to hang around when they were kids. Eddy and Ed were at the swings while Double D sat on top at the monkey bars. Eddy was swinging around until he jumped off the swing and managed to land on his feet. Unfortunately, he was so drunk he didn't see Ed swinging in front of him and was dropkicked to the ground. When he regained consciousness, he saw Ed and Double D laughing at him. He let an annoyed runt, before drunkenly laughing with them too.
Later, they went back to Ed's house to watch TV. They were watching Fish Bowl III while drinking even more beer cans. "Y-You know what?" Double D drunkenly asked.
"What?" Eddy burped.
"Who's what?" Ed laughed drunkenly.
"Sh-shut it Ed" Eddy managed to say on the same state.
The two drunkenly laughed for a moment before Eddy managed to regain his composure. "Go on" he motioned for Double D to continue.
"You two are my brothers" Double D expressed as sweetly as someone who's drunk can be.
"Double D!" Ed happily exclaimed while Eddy gave an 'Awwww' as a response. His two friends hugged him.
"I mean it, you two are family" he wholeheartedly exclaimed.
Eddy began to sob. "Man, it sucks that you're both gonna leave me…" he couldn't muster up strength and began to cry.
"Eddy?" Ed questioned, having never seen his friend so emotional before. "Awww don't feel sad. When I was gone, all I had to worry about was coming home, just to see you" he tried to cheer him up. "Double D and I will always be right here" he said while putting a finger on Eddy's chest.
"That's my under you're touching…" Eddy told him.
"No, your heart" Double D corrected.
"Oh" Eddy realized and began to laugh. The three hugged each other and began to sing the 'Friendship song'.
When you stub your toe
And it hurts you know
Friends are there to help you
When you trip on your face
And your teeth are misplaced
Friends are there to help you
When you're flying low
And you're giving a show
Friends are there to help you
When you take off your shoe
And your feet stink PEE-YEW!
Friends are there to help you.
Two weeks later
The Eds were standing in the middle of the Cul-da-sac, were they had previously received Ed two weeks ago. Now, they were saying their goodbyes to their friend before he returned to the Navy.
"The time is now, I must go…" Ed said with a hint of sadness in his voice.
"I'm gonna miss you Ed" Double D told him. "You're gonna make a great sea man."
"Hey Double D, what did you say?" Eddy snickered.
"Not now Eddy!" Double D said while pushing him away. "Goodbye Ed, farewell."
"See you next year, Monobrow" Eddy said while giving a light punch to Ed's shoulder.
Ed hugs his two best friends in the whole world and the three hug one last time. Ed finally breaks the hug before Eddy and Double D give him a military salute, which he reciprocates. He then starts to walk away, turning around one last time to wave at his friends. Eddy and Double D watch him walk until he disappears in the distance. Then, Double D tells Eddy he also has to go back home and salutes him with a light tap on his shoulder before also walking away.
Eddy stands there for a moment, thinking about all the good times he and his friends had. But then, he remembers what Ed had told him: that he would always have those fond memories in his heart and, as long as he does they will always be with him. He allows himself to smile and savor the moment, a tear almost coming out his eye. Finally, he also turned around and began to walk back home.
