Eclipse Pt.2: The Vow…

Continuing from where we left off in "One More Circuit" previously: "She killed herself?" Tony was having trouble finding the truth within his now failed trick… "I tried to tell her, she wasn't alone. I tried to tell her, I wasn't in love with you or anyone, for that matter. But she wouldn't listen to me… All she said was, you can do it." Sukai's somewhat cold words perfectly blended with mournful tones, broke Logan into pieces… "She killed herself, because of me?" Tony asked her, directly. "I don't… I don't really… I don't know." Sukai shrugged, placing the flowers on the side-table near the rest of the other caskets. "You don't know? You DON'T know? What do you mean, you don't know?" Tony began getting more infuriated, with the entirety of the situation… "I don't know, Tony. She loved you, not me." She replied, heading to exit the scene civilly. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN, YOU DON'T KNOW!?" He roared, his voice echoing throughout the room… "Lopez…" Cutter placed his hand in front of Tony, stopping him from furthering the disruptions and disturbances, he was causing amongst Yanleyna's grieving family members and, Sukai and his mutual friends… "Why?" Lopez demanded to Sukai. "It was your trick, Lopez. I already have the Prestige within me. That's what differentiates us… But, when it comes to your fiancé. As I said before, I don't know. I really don't know. Sorry, Tony…" Sukai exited the scene, leaving the rest of the room – Except for Cutter, in astonishment by Tony's games being revealed. "Tony? I thought you loved Yanleyna? I thought you cared about her?" Their mutual friend, Lacie Nada asked him coldly. "She was my daughter…" Her mother added, full of rage. "Were you sleeping with that PLATINUM BLONDE BITCH!?" The mother demanded, furiously. "NO!?" Tony defended himself. "He wasn't sleeping with her, I can attest to that. But your daughter's diary said everything. I apologize for this situation, Madame." Cutter tried easing up the situation, to the best of his talents… "And if I may, Sukai is not a bitch… Tony, do you have anything to say before we close this casket?" He asked Tony, calming everyone down, mostly. "Well, Tony? You put a ring on my daughter's finger and now, it's gone, covered in blood somewhere in a pawn shop!" Her mother asked frigidly. "Do you have anything to say?" She demanded, feeling the security of the funeral home restraining her. "I – I don't – I don't know…" Tony was at a loss for words! And, so, their magnetically monstrous rivalry officially began!

"I need a stage name…" Sukai thought aloud, to Cutter as she adjusted her suit and clip-on tie… "You need wear less masculine clothing." Cutter said, half-jokingly. "What? If male magicians can wear suits and ties, then so can I…" She responded thoughtfully. "Very well then, what's your stage name?" Cutter asked her politely… "Sukai Todd, The Greatest Crow Moon." She explained, "Too long?" Sukai turned to him, with an eager grin. "A little… How about this? Sukai Todd: The Greatest Sailor Moon." Cutter suggested with a slight grin. "I like it. But I'm not a sailor…" She nodded, "No, you're magician but that name comes with just the right amount of controversy." He explained as Sukai felt the name growing on her. "I'm sure you're right on that one, Cutter. So, any news on the slutty boy?" She asked him, bluntly… "Oh, you mean the one, who recently lost his fiancé because of his own games?" He asked, causing her to giggle sharply. "Yes, that one… Lopez, wasn't it?" Sukai thought aloud, giggling with a sharpness in her tones… "He's still working on his show. I've heard he's already moved on, with another girl." Cutter explained noticing Sukai's slightly irritated sighing. "That's a shame…" She thought aloud, "What is?" Cutter asked. "The fact that he's already working on a new show. I have to outdo him…" Sukai seemed to care less about Lopez's playboy nature and more about their competition, at this point. Little did she know… "Are you willing to get your hands dirty?" He asked her. "Of course, I am! I want that playboy to pay…" She explained as Sukai overheard a voice waiting to meet her. "Sounds like you have an obsession…" Angier's handsome voice rang in her ears… "I might. But I'm making him pay…" Sukai told herself, "Angier? What are you doing?" Cutter asked, Angier realizing he had been hiding in the shadows of the old theatre. "I have some new tricks to work on, Cutter." Angier nodded. "Well, work on them in the other room. I'm busy with the newb." Cutter explained. "The newb?" Angier glanced at Sukai, who was too busy finding the most difficult tricks to put together for her next show to fully notice him… "Yea, she's got a rivalry of her own…" He explained, "Is that so?" Angier asked her. "Yea, I've got a playboy who hasn't learned his lesson, yet…" Sukai thought she knew everything or at least, saw everything… "Is he the one who – "Yes…" Cutter stopped Angier midsentence, in order to help relieve Sukai's growing anger. "Alright, well, I'll be in the other room, trying to decode that diary…" Angier explained causing Sukai to finally look up from the various bird cages she had been experimenting with. "His diary…" Sukai got a brilliant, I'll-be-it fucked-up idea, on how she would destroy Tony! "Great, he already left…" She facepalmed, watching Angier smirk and disappear into the next room. "He's a magician, my friend." Cutter explained trying to ease up Sukai's growing fury… "So am I… I just need the right type of weapon to get Logan's journal and find out what his tricks are." Sukai explained, "I've already got you covered, Miss Todd." Cutter introduced Sukai to a drunken, lookalike to the crippled Angier. "Who is this?" Sukai lifted an eyebrow, in confusion… "This is your way into Lopez's mind! This is the everyman's man…" Cutter explained grinning, revealing the crippled, drunken lookalike Jerald Sims aka Jerry. "I thought this guy had gotten fired because he – "Yes! Wasn't it magnificent?" Jerry stumbled to meet Sukai, in all her platinum blonde gloriousness… "Watch your cane, mate!" Cutter guided Jerry to keep use of his cane intact. "So, what does this drunken Danton have to offer me? I always thought Lopez responded better to sexy women with blonde hair." Sukai asked the two men, in annoyance… "Meet my date." Jerry awkwardly placed his hand out and revealed a freshly-cleaned, golden, engagement-ring that was an exact match to the late Yelena's now long-gone ring. "Ahh! That's very clever. What's your name?" Sukai was slightly impressed, by Jerry's trick… "Jerry, hmm… Jerry Sims! I'm an actor." He showed Sukai the ring, trying to seduce her. "He's a retired actor, with some drinking issues… Don't worry though, after Angier's last lesson, he'll behave for you." Cutter reassured Sukai, somewhat… "Jerry, put the ring back in your jacket-pocket." He commanded Jerry. "Fine…" Jerry agreed, reluctantly placing the ring carefully back into jacket pocket and gazing at Sukai, whilst leaning on his cane in order to remain balanced. "So, since we're using a ring and not a woman. How are we gonna get Lopez's diary?" She asked the two curiously. "Have you heard of the guilt-trip?" Jerry asked, gazing at her intently… "Guilt-trip?" Sukai was impressed now. "Yea, babe… It's the easiest way to get someone to tell you their secrets. Guilt-trip them enough with the right… The right amount of kindness and you've got them in your grasp, for… Almost ever." Jerry explained, still sobering up. "Do you need to use the bathroom?" Sukai noticed Jerry's awkward shaking ankles. "Yea…" He nodded, "That's a nice of way of saying it… I like that." Jerry tried flirting with Sukai, only to be staggered out of the room with Cutter's help. "Sukai, you find the proper ensemble and Jerald, you get your act together!" Cutter explained, as he helped Jerry find his way to the theatre's bathrooms…

All the clothing for the women, were barely-there, bordering on flapper clothing… But there was one outfit that caught my eye. It was black, Sailor uniform with a crescent moon choker and some badass bracelet cuffs. It sparkled and shimmered, in just the right way… It was perfect for me! And so was Jerry, in his… Ahem… Unique way. I mean, yea, outside of guilt-tripping you, Lopez… Jerry, himself was equally useful to me as a hole in the head. But, he was useful… Especially, when he got your own stagehand to leave you alone in the restaurant. Or didn't you realize it, at the time? Tony found himself reading Sukai's journal, in the prison yard far away from the other prisoners as one guard glared at him. "Reading time's up… You think you're magician, ehh?" The guard growled, gripping the chains around Tony's neck. "Well, you do better as an inmate…" He shouted, as Tony hit the ground, quickly closing Sukai's journal. "You do some magic tricks, ehh?" The guard demanded as Tony stood up slowly and the guard realized he was chained to the wall near a bunch of rowdy prisoners and everyone began laughing at him! "HEY-EHH! HEY-EHH! It's NOT fuckin' funny…" He tried to escape. "Where's the bloody KEY!?" The guard griped, angrily.

Don't Look Back…

Anyhow, at the restaurant where Cutter had arranged a meeting with Jerry, Tony and Tony's new assistant/lover Olivia Winston… "So, you're working with Sukai on her new show…" Tony began, "Yes. I am, I am Robert Angier." Jerry had sobered up intensely, to the point where he was actually believable… "Oh? You're the Great Danton…" Tony was impressed. "Yes, I am the one and only, Great Danton." He explained confidently… "Would you like a drink, Mr. Angier?" The sexy waitress asked him, "No, thanks. I prefer to remain sober, when I'm working with someone as brilliant as Sukai Todd." Jerry refused the offer, brilliantly… "So, Angier? What happened to that leg of yours?" Tony asked him, causing Olivia to blush sheepishly. "Oh? My broken leg… That happened a few months back, when I was hosting a show for a friend. It turns out, this friend was a double-spy and had tricked me. She ended up getting me sent to the hospital." Jerry smirked at Olivia, coldly. "And who was this girl? She sounds quite devious…" Tony thought aloud, not fully thinking his words through. "She is quite devious, she's working with Alfred Borden, nowadays. Or should I say, he's working with her… If you know what I mean?" Jerry explained, winking at Olivia cockily. "Huh? Wha? Olivia? You – you can't be serious…" Tony turned to Olivia, who was folding her napkin up… "I'm sorry, Tony…" Olivia stood up and politely curtsied to Jerry. "Alfred Borden? He's the scummiest magician, in London!" Tony griped at Olivia, infuriated with her. "And you – you – you're in love with him?" He demanded, tears filling his eyes… "Well, Tony! What do you expect? Aren't you in love with that Sailor Scout? The platinum blonde one… The one your fiancé killed herself for?!" Olivia crossed a dangerous line, with that remark. "OLIVIA! SHE DIDN'T KILL HERSELF FOR SUKAI! She killed herself for ME! Do you not understand the guilt, I live with, every moment?" Tony roared, as more people in the restaurant quietly exited the dining room. "Guilt, you say? You started sleeping with me, two days ago… What kind of trickster are you?" Olivia snapped, tears filling her eyes as she marched out of the dining room leaving Tony alone with Jerry. "I… Well, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your fiancé." Jerry apologized, politely. "It's fine… I never loved her, anyway." Tony sat down with a shrug, as he confessed one of his truths… "Oh? So, this ring doesn't mean anything to you?" Jerry asked Tony, revealing the copycat engagement-ring to him. "The ring? It does actually… I wanted to give it to my first crush, in forever." Tony replied, carefully taking the ring and gazing at it. "And who was your first time in forever?" Jerry smirked cleverly. "We didn't have a first time, but her name is Skye." Tony explained, with a heavy sigh… "Oh?" Jerry was a bit confused. "Skye? That's her real name… Oh! Don't tell me, the Great Danton doesn't know his own sidekick's real name?" Tony chuckled rudely. "She isn't my sidekick… She's my greatest weapon. And of course, I know her real name." Jerry recovered smoothly from Tony's blow. "Here…" Tony sighed handing him, his journal. "Your weapon might find something handy in there, for you two to use." He explained, as Jerry continued his acting… "Does it have your Prestige?" Jerry asked calmly. "Of course, the key word to my prestige is at the end of the book. It's handwritten." Tony replied, with a cold smirk. "Very well, I guess you can keep the ring, then." Jerry nodded, sliding the book into his jacket and carefully standing up with his cane. "Hey, how tall are you, Mr. Lopez?" He asked him, rudely. "Taller than you, in some areas…" Tony snapped, in a snobbish tone… "That's what you think." Jerry chuckled, in a snarky voice! "I'm 5"3 ½ and I usually never feel subconscious about that… But Sukai, she's the only girl who's ever made me feel like I needed to shave and wear higher shoes. She's the only one, who's ever had that type of power over me. That type of influence… Sukai has that power. That inexplicable power… I just wish I knew what her Prestige truly was." Tony thought aloud, going on a bit of tangent. "Ah… Well, stay clean-shaven. Women seem to like you better, that way." Jerry chuckled, brushing off the majority of what Tony said.

"Did he believe it?" Sukai asked, later on when Jerry returned and had a small shot of plain Sprite… "Yup, here ya' go…" Jerry nodded, handing her the journal. "What happened to the ring?" She asked him, before continuing to read Tony's journal. "I gave it to em'. He really believed it was the original… Said something about how you were his first crush. About how your Prestige was the only reason why he is keeping up his grooming and wearing heels." Jerry searched for a real bottle of alcohol in the drawers of the room, only to find sodas and some bottled milk. "What? He told you that?" Sukai was caught off-guard, by Jerry's casual confessions… "Of course, he did… It's like Cutter said, I'm the everyman's man." Jerry smirked at her, as he opened a can of Sprite. "Wow…" Sukai was impressed. "So, now that you have the journal… What are you gonna do?" He asked her, leaning against the table and putting his cane against the side of his brace. "It says Colorado, Springs here… That's where I'm going. I'm going to destroy Lopez, that's what I'm doing!" Sukai gazed at the dimly lit ceiling, as if it was a picturesque moonlit skyline. "No offense, Sukai Todd… But why aren't you letting it go? It seems like he's already destroying himself… I mean, his stagehand goldilocks has been working for Borden, behind his back, for a while." Jerry explained, "Are you sympathizing with him?" She demanded, getting tested. "No. I'm not, Sukai. I just want you to be safe… I knew a man, who was obsessed as you are, right now. And it's something that took him Colorado, as well. But it also cost him, his right leg." He tried to calm Sukai down, as Cutter stood behind a nearby wall; realizing Jerry was truly falling for Sukai… "Granted for him, money was no object… But when it comes to you, Sukai…" Jerry began, "I'm making plenty of money, as the concierge of this theatre." She snapped, trying to combat the sparks she was feeling coming from inside of herself and from Jerry. "Sukai, it's not that. I just want you to be safe." He explained, flirtatiously sliding his hands down her arms and gripping her waist. "Fine. But well-behaved women rarely make history…" Sukai blushed, reluctantly agreed… "I'm not telling you, to be well-behaved, babe. I'm telling you, to be safe. The life of a true magician is dangerous… I don't want you to get hurt." Jerry confessed, as he grabbed his cane and he stood chest-to-chest with her. "I won't be the one getting hurt, I won't be the one paying the price… Don't worry, Jerald…" Sukai nodded, feeling their tension growing. "It's Jerry, babe…" He smirked, as they leaned in to kiss each-other – "Ahem! Miss Todd, it's time to start rehearsals for the next show!" Cutter interjected as Sukai nodded and Jerry blushed, watching her head into her closet to change. "You've really cleaned up, nicely. Jerry." Cutter complimented Jerry, in a friendly mannerism… "Of course, I have… I am the Great Danton." Jerry growled, gazing at the closet doors where Sukai was changing. "For tonight, you are…" Cutter agreed lightly, trying to ease up that same deeply nerve-racking tension, again…

Don't Look Back Pt.2: Eclipse…

"Alright, alright, ladies and gents! This is the moment, you've waited for…" Sukai grinned, as the audience roared in applause at her next trick. "I will now, turn this cupboard into a man… But not just any man! The man, every woman would want to be with… Lucky girls, you are!" She explained, causing the girls in the audience to laugh out loud as Tony sat in the back of the audience, watching her intently in his seat. "This man, is none other than…" Sukai trailed off, after placing table-cloth over the cupboard and tapping her foot, to the beat of the saxophonists and pianists playing for her… "The Great Danton!" Jerry smirked, as Sukai pulled the table-cloth from over him, seeing how much taller he was than her. "What a showman!" She joked again, as the audience gave her a standing ovation and they inter-clasped their fingers; bowing to the roaring crowd confidently. "What a magician, she is!" Jerry still sounded quite sober, oddly enough… "I wouldn't reappear here, for no reason…" He announced as they continued bowing and he took one of the rose bouquets and handed it to her. "You see, I've traveled far and wide… I've searched for the best places to hide. Unfortunately though, there is thing I cannot trick you lovely ladies and gents into doing…" Jerry spoke so confidently, so cleanly, so eloquently… It's almost as if he is Robert Angier… It's like I have a clone of him, standing right next to me? But I hope this clone doesn't fuck up what Jerry and I worked our assess off to create… Sukai thought listening to Jerry's speech, "And what that might be? Trying your cooking?" She joked aloud, causing the audience to laugh again. "Not so, Miss Todd… The Greatest Sailor Moon! The one thing, you great people of this land must remember is… Love is the most important passion behind any creation." Jerry was essentially saying that he loved Sukai… "Do you love being a magician, Sukai Todd?" An audience member asked, "I do. But what's that in your hand, I don't believe that belongs to you…" Sukai cut him off, as he pulled the pair of pink panties out of his pocket where his handkerchief would've been. "Whaa?" He blushed, deeply. "Do you mind returning those, to that beautiful maiden, right there?" She pointed to Olivia, who politely took the panties back and they exchanged their items for what was properly and originally theirs… "Now, for the final act…" Sukai explained switching the slightly shocked audience's attention, back to her and Jerry. "What you're about to see, ladies & gentlemen is more astounding than any average handkerchief trick. It is known as the Real Transported Man. However, being the true magician is not limited to one gender…" Sukai continued creating the tension within the audience, who were now on the edge of their seats… And Sukai walked through one door and it closed loudly. "And here I thought I was going to have call in dinner, tonight?" Jerry thought aloud, making the audience laugh a bit more. Only for Sukai to reveal herself from the other door, and the first door opened. It was empty… "How'd she do that?" Borden griped to Tony. "I don't know… She's a magician." Tony replied, coldly. "She couldn't do that, by herself…" He explained quietly. "Who said, she did?" Tony grinned cockily, watching as Sukai and Jerry interlocked their fingers and hands; they bowed to the audience. "Well?" She whispered to Jerry, not realizing the real Angier was watching from backstage near Cutter. "The Real Transported Man is not limited to one gender… However, as the Great Danton, I feel that I have some tricks to learn." Jerry smirked at Sukai, "Indeed, Danton!" She grinned, wondering – "Kiss her, damn it…" Olivia spoke in a hushed tone… "Kiss her?" Angier felt the fury fill inside of him, this wasn't Jerry's slutty partner-in-crime, this was the newb… The magician, he knew he would need! The magician who already possessed the True Prestige… But she was also young and also a little bit lonely. "Such as? Learning how to stop dialing the neighbor's cat groomer, at three in the morning?" Sukai made the audience LOL, again, lol… "Their cat is an alpha-female, I can't help myself, sometimes…" Jerry felt his grip on the small of Sukai's back growing firmer as they stood in a side-hug. "When did this become a comedy act?" Borden griped to Tony. "Keep watching…" Tony hissed. "That's a shame, you always were into the stronger women. Even if they were pampered pussycats…" Sukai added, "Excuse me, Sir! What's that in your hand?" She suddenly grasped Borden's attention, causing him to stand in confusion… "My watch?" He asked confounded, "Why is it ticking so loud?" Sukai smirked at him frigidly. "What?" Borden asked lifting an eyebrow at her; as the curtain rose and revealed a gigantic clock that hit the 1-Mark and colored neon lights began glistening inside it. "Looks like your time is up, Sir! Thank you for joining us..." Sukai grinned as Borden glanced at her, slightly impressed only to sit down on a whoopy-cushion. "That's just not fair…" He blushed embarrassed, as he removed the cushion from his seat, realizing that the real trick had nothing to do with Angier's lookalike and everything to do with Sukai Todd's charisma… "Well, the time is here…" Jerry smirked, handing Sukai a rose from the bouquet as she politely took it, with a bow; and Cutter continued holding Angier back… "Thank you, ladies & gentlemen!" Sukai began waving the audience goodbye, only for Jerry to finally reveal his unique prestige. "We need this moment, to ourselves!" Jerry suddenly gripped her wrists, pulled her chest-to-chest with him and they began passionately French-kissing, much to Sukai's own shock. As the audience waited, only for the curtains to rise, for the final time of this show… "Hmm… Huhh, huhh?" Sukai panted, as they finally stopped making-out and the spotlight hit them. "The Prestige… Sukai Todd already has it, she's always had it. And she'll always have it, all along!" Jerry smirked, handing her his handkerchief as he dried one of his misty eyes; and she dropped the handkerchief just in time for Angier to activate the trapdoor from his angle; and reveal himself, for the crowd. "The Prestige! Not bad, for the newest magician in London…" Angier smirked, finally joining her on stage, cane-in-hand and the crowd once again gave them standing ovations. After which, Sukai waved everyone away and everyone left gushing about the show; including Olivia, Tony much to Borden's dismay…

"Jerry, why didn't you tell me, you were gonna plant one on me, like that?" Sukai demanded to Angier, in a betrayed tone… "I couldn't tell you, it would've ruined the trick." Angier played along, seeing Cutter's upset glare. "Not even a warning?" She asked snappily. "The ticking clock was the warning…" Angier confessed, rubbing her shoulders warmly… "Oh, right… That's why we have an entire comedy act, before we kissed…" Sukai was definitely upset, by this situation… "It's to keep the audience engaged and somewhat relaxed." Angier explained, "I see… Well, do you mind telling me when you changed your tie?" Sukai snapped icily. "Ahem…" Cutter cleared his throat and headed to find Jerry, who had sacrificed himself for Sukai's trick… "You didn't notice?" Angier asked, amazed by her mixed emotions. "No. I thought you hated wearing that bloodred color, it reminded you too much of the real Angier…" She explained throwing Angier, a little off kilter. "I guess, that's the price of a good trick." Angier explained, with a casual shrug… "Well, I guess, I'll see you later…" Sukai nodded. "Where are you going?" He asked her curiously. "Colorado Springs. I have some unfinished business to attend to." She thought aloud. "Do you know where Cutter went?" Sukai asked him, as she began searching for her own handkerchief which Jerry had stolen before the show had begun… "Colorado Springs. No offense, Sukai Todd… But I feel like your archenemy is already destroying himself. Why would go through so much trouble, when you already have standing ovations and sell-out crowds?" Angier tried to remember what Jerry had told her, earlier… "He's my archenemy and him destroying himself, is not enough…" Sukai felt her anger starting to bubble up, again. "But he lost his fiancé?" He added, "I KNOW THAT! I don't care… I never cared about that bitch, to begin with… She never loved herself, let alone anyone else for that matter. Nor does he…" Sukai tears filled her eyes, in her fury. "You don't think that playboy is capable of loving anyone?" Angier asked her, trying to comfort her in his tones… "No. Hell, I don't even know what love really is! All I know is I love getting what I want and what I want is revenge…" Sukai exclaimed, holding back tears. "You don't know what – "Stop asking questions! Okay, Jerry? You need to start drinking again… You've gotten too intelligent…" She griped, saying the most hurtful words Jerry never heard… "Sukai. Don't walk away…" Angier stopped her from leaving, by using his arm as a turnpike and she stared at him, intently. "I'm sorry, Jerry. I shouldn't have said that. I respect you, for sobering up… It's just sad, that's all just a trick. But I guess, that's the price of a good trick. When you experience unrequited love." Sukai sighed, feeling Angier's hand gently holding her shoulder as she felt herself being wrapped in a uniquely warm embrace (hug) by the Great Danton, himself, Angier… Though, she had no idea, at the time! And the love wasn't as unrequited, as she assumed…
