...
I was steaming mad with anger as I slammed the door shut entering the hotel apartment. I was beginning to wonder why I even bothered to try anymore. I was in a bitter mood, and not wanting to speak to anyone.
"Cassidy, is everything okay?" Mom curiously inquired with widened eyes.
I faced the woman who had adopted me after my parents decided they didn't want me. I didn't like the name, but it was a given. I was not having a good day thanks to Zack.
"Yes, ma'am." I flashed her an innocent smile. I never did get along with Zack, but I did with Cody his identical twin brother. I knew she saw right through my false mask of happiness, but I needed to conceal it as long as I could. I hated the Tipton hotel, and I hated Zack.
"Where are Zack, and Cody?"
I froze in place. Thinking about earlier. I didn't know if I should explain to her how bad things had gotten between Zack, and I.
"Er-" I began, and was cut off when Zack entered the hotel looking like a very pissed off cat with Cody right behind him looking frightened.
'Two more weeks,' I reminded myself about how soon we'd be boarding the S.S. Tipton. My hair was a lavender color with silver blue eyes, and pale white skin. I needed a tan. What could I say?
Zack glared at me.
Cody looked sympathetic.
Grimacing, I didn't think liking a guy was such a big deal. Overprotective much?
Our mom looked from between the three of us curiously. She obviously wondered which one of us was going to tell her what happened first.
I was fifteen, and pretty sure that flirting with a guy at school I liked was okay. I didn't see what was wrong with it. I liked Brandon Perez with his jet black hair, tanned features, and coppery brown eyes.
"Mom, you see-"
"Cassidy, was throwing herself at some guy." Zack cut Cody off without caring.
Mom looked from Zack to me with a cocked eyebrow. She couldn't believe her ears either could I.
Cody shook his head in disbelief, and opened his mouth to speak.
"I was not throwing myself at some guy. I've known Brandon since the third grade, and I like him like any normal girl would." I argued instead of letting Cody speak. I shot Cody an apologetic look, and glared at Zack. I was really furious, now.
Mom relaxed a little bit, and sighed.
"Brandon Perez?" Mom asked with a smile on her face until something (obviously) crossed her mind.
Cody, and I nodded our heads in a 'yes' motion.
"He's eighteen! You're fifteen!" Zack shouted as if it wasn't already in my mind.
I shook my head full of shock, and disbelief. I knew I couldn't change his mind considering, he's hated me since Carey Martin adopted me when I was a toddler.
"You aren't allowed to date someone who's an adult. Zack's only looking out for you, and so am I." Mom spoke with an idea lighting her eyes.
I hated when she did that. I would set Zack on fire if I had to because, there was no way him, and I were ever going to get along.
Cody was being awfully quiet watching the scene play out before him.
"Mom, don't you think you're being a tiny bit harsh?" Cody inquired finally trying to help me out.
Mom looked thoughtful a moment.
"I am not, but since you're 'just,' and ONLY friends with him. Why don't you invite him over for dinner?" Mom shot me a warning look before smiling.
I nodded feeling like I was choking on my own idiocy. I shot Brandon a quick text who replied about he would love to.
Cody was still not sure about the whole situation.
"Okay." I told her not looking at her, and avoiding looking at Zack altogether. I never did look at him or speak much to him unless we were in some kind of argument. Sadly, I was forced to share a bedroom with them, but it wasn't too difficult to act like Zack was an invisible being that didn't matter.
"I'll call you when dinner's ready. Go do your homework." Mom told us with a big happy smile on her face.
What was she so happy go lucky about?
Cody, and I normally did our homework together.
Zack never did his.
Cody continuously on several occasions tried encouraging him to do his homework, and get good grades.
I didn't bother to encourage him to do his homework or get good grades knowing it wouldn't have done anyone any good, anyway.
Zack only ignored Cody when he mentioned homework, grades, and work of any kind.
I tried to stay out of their fights, and most of the time got pulled into their ridiculous fights. I felt like a total reject.
"She was way too happy." I mumbled under my breath.
Cody heard me, and looked up to respond as he stopped doing his homework.
We sat on my bed while Zack played video games.
"Yeah, she was. Do you think maybe she met somebody?" Cody wondered thoughtfully aloud with an excited look.
A soft smile came to play on my lips. Maybe, she had which had me a bit sad, and wondering what love was like. Shrugging, I began to reply.
"That-"
"You can stop wasting your breath. She hasn't met anybody. She's old, and has children with one of them an unwanted speck of dirt." Zack had stopped playing video games, and came over to us. He'd been listening to another one of Cody, and I's conversations.
Cody shot Zack a warning look that didn't stop him from being mean.
"Zack, stop being mean to Cassidy. She's our baby sister, and she doesn't deserve the way you keep treating her." Cody spoke softly trying to keep the tension down.
Zack opened his mouth to say something nasty when we heard two people talking outside the bedroom very loudly.
"What time is it?"
Cody looked at his watch. His eyes grew wide with confusion.
I cocked an eyebrow curiously.
"It's nine o'clock at night. Mom, normally has dinner already done, and on the table with us at it before now. Who's out there with her?" Cody spoke sounding a bit upset.
I rushed to peak out of the bedroom door, and gasped in shock.
"What is it?" Zack inquired pushing me out of the way to leave the bedroom.
Cody, and I followed behind him.
"Mom?"
She was in the kitchen with a glass of red wine in her hands making out with Brandon.
"Uh-oh!" Mom yelled, and broke the kiss to look at us with an embarrassed expression on her face.
What a day!
