April 14 2:45 PM Detention Center Visitor's Room

A lone girl sits in the corner of a jail cell, how did this happen? You're about to find out in a minute, dear readers. A police officer opens the cell and says, "Ms. Widmayer, you have visitors." Yeah, the name is Rebekah Widmayer and I'm the self-insert Mary Sue, but without a long name and crazy design. Long story short, I venture to different universes, time lines, and dimensions to keep my head above water. What do I mean? Depression sucks, you feel lonely and want to be loved. Sure, I've got people who care for me in the real world, but this void can only be filled through these adventures. Nuff said, I make my merry way to the visitor's room with a glass wall between me and Mr. Wright with his cute assistant Maya Fey. But there's also someone hiding in the corner...

"Mr. Wright," I smiled. "I've heard many great things about you, so you're gonna defend me?"

"No," he answered.

My jaw dropped. "Say what?!" I gasped.

"I want to know exactly what happened in detail first." Wright said.

I took a deep breath, remembering what I did two hours ago. Simply put, I was running around a park to get exercise...for once. It was 12:15 PM, the day was sure to be a good one or so I thought. Five minutes of running, I pause to take a breather. Coincidentally, I overheard a conversation of a man speaking to someone over his cell phone. "For that profit, I'll kill Edgeworth," the man said. My heart stopped, a murder?! I couldn't let this slide, so I called the police and informed them. But, the man had already gone after Edgeworth; he was on his way back to his office. When I got there, I saw his red sports car along with the murderer. A lone rock was by my feet so I threw it at him three feet away, thus knocking the man out. His pistol fell out of his hand and I grabbed it, pointing the gun at his head. I hesitated, but when the words of that man echoed, I pulled the trigger. Edgeworth witnessed this happening on the other side of the fence in the parking lot. He looked at me with zero expression that slowly turned to shock. When the police arrived, I was arrested and taken into custody.

"And that's about it." I said with a long depressing sigh.

"So, you shot that man to protect Edgeworth?" Maya asked.

I nodded. "Precisely, but everyone here thinks I killed him out of God knows what."

What I neglected to mention was the man crushed his phone to prevent anyone from figuring out who he called. Regardless, the remains were taken into evidence along with the pistol and bullet found near the man's head. The autopsy claims he died instantly which is true; the man's name is Marvin Larson as the ID in his wallet claims. No ties to this man have been found...yet.

"Listen, if you can find out who this man is tied to, it could prove my innocence." I said hoping I can give Wright a clue.

"Yeah, and we might open a new can of worms with it," he dreaded.

Wright has a knack of getting into cases that lead to others like the DL-6 and SL-9 cases. Hopefully that won't be the "case" this time! If he decides to take it that is.

"Mr. Wright, let me be honest," I said, turning my gaze to the floor. "I don't care if I'm declared guilty or not, I feel disgusted after shooting that man."

"But you knew he was after to kill me," a man added.

It was Miles Edgeworth! I felt every fiber of my being run the other way. Panic took the helm causing me to visibly shake and sweat. I know Miles can be a good guy, but a part of me fears the opposite. Despite feeling these things, I try to act cool.

"So, did you come here to talk trash?" I asked. "I get it! You saw what happened, go ahead and rub it in my face! I'm waiting-"

"Drop the act," he interrupted.

I couldn't control my emotions any more. I swore I'd never kill anyone and here I am in jail. "Yeah, but-" I bite my tongue and resist the urge to cry. "You're right, I did it to protect you. But there will be charges against me!" At this point it was over to hide anything from Wright Edgeworth, I cracked under pressure and bawled my eyes out. Their expressions showed a hint of concern or confusion, it's hard to tell.

"Don't get involved with this, okay?!" I yelled. "Why should you care about someone like me, anyway?!"

"Because I saw what happened and the court must hear what every witness has to say." Miles answered. "But let me ask you, did you kill this man?"

I nodded without hesitation. "Yes, I pulled that trigger."

Something didn't add up to Edgeworth, he recalls an intense echo after the gun fired. But that could be because it was in an indoor parking lot and that's normal. To clear things up, he must investigate the crime scene.

"We'll return before visiting hours are up." Wright informed.

"Be careful out there, okay?" I pleaded. "I know some people want you guys dead, but I'm sure as heck ain't one of them."

With a smile, he makes his leave. I felt a little at ease knowing Wright and Edgeworth are looking into this, but a nagging feeling of dread looms over me. What if they're just being nice because it's their job or it's to "earn my trust"?

April 14 3:07 PM Prosecutor's Office Parking Lot

The crime scene is already undergoing investigation through Dick Gumshoe, a homicide investigator. Already, the gun was checked for fingerprints and clearly mine and the victim's are all over it. It was fired nearly at point blank range with the bullet leaving a mark on the concrete. The autopsy is in the works as we speak or in your case, reading. My Sonic themed bag was found near the body containing my wallet, camera, flip phone, and a recently purchased plush of Edgeworth himself. Maya thought he was cute, but she can't take him since it's evidence. My camera has nothing regarding the murder I mean, why would I document that?

"It's looking to me like she really did kill him." Gumshoe reported.

"Of course!" Maya exclaimed. "She did it to protect Edgeworth."

Wright further examined the area and that's when he found a hole in one of the supports for the wall. Clearly, that's not from age or a car, it was a bullet hole.

"That's odd," Gumshoe commented. "Didn't she shoot him from the ground?"

"Maybe it wasn't her?" Wright thought out loud.

"Do you think this can prove her innocence?" Maya asked.

It's doubtful since there's no proof as to how and where the hole came from. The bullet remains so the identification of the ballistic markings can lead to the gun's identity. If it's from the one I shot, then I could be in trouble. But the gun only fired once, therefore, any arguments to say it was me that shot Marvin twice would be invalid.

Edgeworth arrives on the other side of the lot where a wired fence blocks visitors and prosecutors. He races to the other side where the crime scene is, but by now everything seems to be in order.

"Edgeworth, look!" Maya said, holding out the plush of him. "She really does care for you."

"Or maybe she's one of those crazy fan girls." Gumshoe shuddered.

"Miles, look at this." Wright said pointing to the bullet hole. "Someone else must have been here."

"Stating the obvious as always," he smiled. "You're saying someone else killed that man?"

Wright nodded. Now that the crime scene is fully examined, it looks like it's time to get cracking on who this Marvin guy is. The police have found no leads thus far, but that may change in the near future.

"Please...don't do this…"

"It's over…"

"NOOO!'"

I wake up in a cold sweat unaware of what I had just dreamt. All I know is, I don't feel so good. I feel like I'm choking and a familiar pain stabs me in the chest. What time is it? According to the clock hanging near the cells it's 5PM on the nose. I think visiting hours are up, but it seems my law heroes are allowed to see me before the trial tomorrow.

"Any luck?" I asked.

"We may be able to prove your innocence." Wright stated.

My eyes lit with hope. "Really? I mean, you're welcome to the challenge, but you know that I will be pleading guilty tomorrow."

"But why?!" Maya exclaimed. "Nick can help you!"

I turn my attention to the ground to avoid awkward eye contact. Sweat dripped from every corner of my body, my hands were held in my lap to prevent them from shaking. Wright shouldn't help a criminal like me. It's not good for his reputation.

"There's no need for the trial to go on for three days," I said quietly to prevent myself from crying. "I'm guilty, court adjourned!"

Wright shook his head in disagreement. "That's where you're wrong," he said with a determined smile. "I can prove you didn't kill him, but you may have to face charges for attempting murder."

"Which isn't as bad as murder itself!" Maya added.

Somehow, a smile was automatically painted on my face. I felt hope knocking on my door, but is this a prank? Heh, whatever the case may be, I have nothing to lose.

"Fine!" I said with a somewhat genuine smile. "You can defend me!"

Maya smiled widely. "Yay! We won't let you down, Rebekah!"

I looked in the corner where Edgeworth was and he wore a smile like the rest of his friends.

"Hey, you!" I waved. "You've been silent, got anything to say for being here?"

"Wright's got you covered," he said leaving the shadows. "When he sets his mind on something, he'll see it through till the end."

"Exactly," Wright agreed. "We'll see you in court tomorrow!"
