Lorelai Leigh 'Rory' Gilmore is sitting in her childhood bedroom staring at the ppositive pregnancy test. She had no idea what she was going to do; she was just 22, meant to be starting her dream career in a matter of weeks and had just split up from the father of her unborn tiny baby after declining his marriage proposal. She is completely shocked; they'd - being Logan and her - had always used protection without fail so how was she pregnant? She had no idea but that didn't really matter now; for she was going to keep this baby and raise him or her; even if Logan didn't want to be involved. She is deep in thought when there's a knock at her bedroom door. She quickly shoves the test under her bedroom pillow and opens her bedroom door.

"Hey kiddo, you alright?" Her mother, also named Lorelai, asks her.

"Yeah I'm alright, just a bit tired."

"Alright sweets, I'm going to Luke's, do you want to come or do you just want me to bring you home something?"

"Um I'll come with," Rory decides and grabs her cell phone and heads with her mother to their favourite diner. Once they get there, they take a seat at one of the usual table and the diner owner, Luke, comes over and pours coffee into two coffee cups for them.

"Hey Rory, did you have a good trip back?" He asks while admiring Lorelai for she has curled her hair and worn a figure hugging top. They had dated and even been engaged in the past but currently weren't together, but Luke always had feelings for her - even before they got together, when Rory was still a small child.

"Yeah it was good, I'm exhausted but happy to be home."

"That's good," he says and makes sure to take his attention away from Lorelai and look at Rory.

"What would you like to order?"

"Burger and chilli cheese fries," she says and takes a sip of coffee. She knew she shouldn't technically be drinking the drink but she still loved it, plus her mother had drunk coffee throughout the pregnancy many years ago and she'd turned out fine so she didn't see any issue.

"And you Lorelai?" He asks.

"Um the same please Luke."

"Okay I'll bring that over to you soon," he says and goes to give Caesar the order. Rory, when Luke is out of ear shot, exclaims to her mother,

"Oh my gosh Mom, did you see the way he was looking at you? He totally still has feelings for you!"

"Rory, sshh!" She says not wanting Luke, or anyone, to hear her.

"Mom he totally still loves you! You've got to ask him out!" Rory says with excitement but quieter this time.

"Rory, I don't think..." she says but stops herself for she knows that she still loves Luke and deep down never stopped loving him. She looks at the man who is wearing his signature backwards baseball cap and flannel shirt and finds herself practically giddy. She takes a long sip of coffee and makes herself look away. She couldn't ruin the friendship she had with him - not again.

"Hey Lorelai could we talk upstairs?" Luke asks her and she looks up at him and just nods and follows him upstairs to his small apartment. He lets them both in and closes the door after her.

"So what's up Luke?" She asks as she leans against the kitchen counter.

"Look I know we have both messed up a lot in the past, I know I should've told you about April as soon as I knew about her and no avoided the subject but I want us to move past that and..."

"And...?" Lorelai asks.

"And get back together.."

"Oh wow Luke that's..."

"Look I know it sounds crazy but I love you, I've always loved you from the moment I met you when Rory was a kid I just never had the guts to say it to you or at all. I want us to have a life together Lorelai, I want to marry you and have kids or just a kid together. I love you Lorelai."

"Oh Luke..." she says and tries to find words to reply but just finds herself saying, "I love you too. And I want all of that with you as well."

"Does this mean we are back together?" He asks while holding one of her hands.

"I guess it does."

"Well just to make it official," he says and grabs something from a drawer and gets down on one knee in front of her. She is completely gobsmacked and brings her hands in front of her open mouth.

"Lorelai Victoria Gilmore I've loved you for more years than a can count right now, we've done this before so why delay it at all. Will you marry me?"

"Oh my god Luke! Of course I'll marry you!" She exclaims and hugs and kisses him. As he gets up and kisses her back they hear squeals from the doorway. Little did they realise that their daughters had been watching the whole thing.

"Put the ring on Dad!" His daughter, April, exclaims and he fumbles with the box and slips the engagement ring on his fiancée's finger.

"You're finally gonna be my dad!" Rory exclaims and hugs Luke tightly round the waist. Lorelai can't help but smile at the view for Luke has always been a father to Rory even though for most of the years they weren't together. She finds her and April joining in on the hug and realises for the first time in her life that she is going to have a somewhat normal family. They all eventually pull away from the hug a few minutes later but what feels like a lifetime.

"Gosh that's more than I planned when I asked Lorelai up here," Luke sighs and sits on one of the kitchen chairs. The women in the room laugh and Lorelai kisses him again.

"Well guys as my now whole family are here I have something to tell you all. If it's okay with Mom and Luke, I don't want to steal your time or whatever." Rory says while playing with her nails. She only ever did this when she was nervous and Lorelai could tell this was something she needs to get out or she could implode. She whispers in Luke's was something and he nods.

"It's ok kid, you can say whatever it is."

"Well this has come as a big shock to me as it will do anyone else but... I'm pregnant."

"What?! Whose the dad?" Luke exclaims and finds himself pacing the room. Rory always knew that his reaction might be big and he was always the person she was most nervous to tell in her immediate life; for she never wanted to disappoint him, or her Mom.

"It's Logan's. I only found out last night myself."

"Oh wow kiddo," Lorelai says and hugs her daughter.

"I'm sorry Mom, I know it's not at a great time and may seem like I'm stealing yours and Luke's thunder or whatever but I had to get it out. I needed to tell you. Please don't be disappointed in me. I really need you by my side for this Mom," Rory says while giving her mother a pleading look.

"It's okay Ror, we will figure this out," Lorelai says and hugs her daughter again.

"Luke, please stop pacing!" Lorelai exclaims suddenly.

"Oh right sorry," Luke says and takes a seat on the couch. April is just standing over to one side trying to absorb it all. Her dad had just proposed to the best woman in his whole life and who he has obviously loved for years and her soon to be sister had just announced that she was pregnant with her ex college boyfriends baby.

"April sweetie you okay over there? You've gone pretty quiet." Lorelai asks and reaches her hand for April's to bring her closer.

"Um yeah I'm just absorbing it all. It's..." April says and for the first time ever in her life she can't find a word for the situation but grabs onto Lorelai's hand and gets pulled into a hug.

"I get it, a lot just happened in ten minutes. How about we all go out to lunch somewhere where no one knows us and have a family night aye?" She says and looks towards look who now has his head in his hands.

"Mom actually I'd like to stay in tonight if that's okay? Plus Luke looks like if he gets up he will collapse," Rory says nodding towards her soon to be step father. Luke now stands up.

"Sorry that is a lot to take in but I'm okay now. Well we can go out for lunch or we can all go downstairs have burgers then I can cook us a family meal and we can have a disgusting movie night?"

"That sounds great," the women in the room all say.

"Okay well that's sorted," Luke says and April is the first one to get to the door.

"Rory, I know I've said nothing but I am happy for you," Luke says. Rory turns round and smiles at him.

"Thanks Luke that means a lot."

"All I ask is please tell Logan. I'd hate for him to loose out on so many years with his kid because you couldn't tell him. If you are too scared to tell him I'm sure your mom or I could if you needed us to."

"Yeah," Lorelai agrees and smoothes Rory's hair. April turns round and nods, "yeah or I could prep you an email to send to him or I could send him one myself."

"Thank guys," Rory says and her emotions out find themselves spilling out in tears down her face. This shocks Luke who pulls her into a hug moments later.

"It's okay Rory, whatever you decide, we will all support you. There's no need to cry okay? We will sort this out, for you and the baby," Luke says and rubs Rory's back, trying to calm her down.

"Th-thank you," Rory stutters and wipes her tears away. "No problem."

"Now let's get that burger down you aye?" Lorelai says and the blended family walk down into the diner. Luke tried to take Rory's coffee away but almost gets his hand removed from his body.

"Rory you can't have that stuff. It isn't good for you and..." he says looking discreetly towards Rory's stomach as the rest of the diner watch but pretend not to be.

"Luke, she is fine to have one cup," Lorelai says and gives him a small push towards the kitchen. Rory takes a long sip of coffee while April takes the seat between Rory and Lorelai with a cup of tea. She didn't mind coffee but she did prefer tea. She'd never go as far as her Dad does as to lecture someone about what it does to the human body though. She understands why he does it though. It's only because he loves Rory like she's his own daughter and loves Lorelai so passionately that April is surprised his heart doesn't pop out of his chest — still beating. Luke comes out a few moments later with a burger and chill cheese fries for mother and daughter and a turkey burger with a salad for his teenage daughter.

"Thanks Dad," April says and takes a bite of the burger while her soon to be step mother and step sister practically inhale their fries. Luke shortly gets back to work after topping up Lorelai's coffee and very reluctantly filling up Rory's. All three women chat among themselves while eating their food and drinking their hot beverages when April's cell phone starts to ring. She digs it out of her pocket and sees an unknown number come up. She answers even though this is strange considering the only people who have her number are her best friend, her mother and her dad.

"Hello?" She says into the phone. Luke looks towards her while working, trying to figure out the look on her face while mouthing to Lorelai or Rory who it was.

"Yes... yes... oh my god what?! Is she okay? Where is she? Okay I'll be there as soon as I can. Thank you!" April says and hangs up the phone before whispering, "oh my god," to herself. Luke by this point is over at the table.

"April what's wrong?" He asks as she is now visibly upset with tears beginning to fall down her face beneath her glasses.

"It's mom... she's in the hospital in Woodbridge. I've got to get there ASAP. There's no one with her. Oh my god I didn't even ask any questions other than is she okay? What kind of a person doesn't ask questions?!"

"Hey woah April, calm down. Take a deep breath. Someone can get you there," Lorelai promises as Luke grabs the keys to his truck. Rory stands up and guides the girl towards the door.

"Caesar I'm going to Woodbridge! Close up later!" Luke exclaims while pouring coffee into takeaway cups for his fiancée and Rory and herbal tea for April and practically runs out the door to his truck where April is now sat beside Lorelai and Rory. Luke squeezes in next to them, hands them their drinks and drives to the hospital in Woodbridge.
