Hope thought she was a semi normal teenager. Well, normal ish. She was home educated, vegetarian, and bisexual. Though, save her best friend, no one knew about the last one. But, in the Carter household, both parents were hiding dark secrets.
She was 15, when it happened.
This is the story of Hope Carter, and the dark reality that no teen should have found.
"mum" hope said. "shut up" her mum was singing, like she always did. This time, she was singing master of the house, from les miserables. They had watched it a couple of days before, Hope having read a rather long copy.
In Hopes opinion, Jean Valjean was way better in the books, but the thenardiers were so much better in the movies. Hope stormed out of her mother's room, pissed off about the dreadful wail of her mother's voice.
Then they came. Aurors, hope realized later. Dressed in there red robes, with there cold, cruel mannerisms. "Mr and Mrs Carter, you are under arrest for sheltering underage unregistered werewolves" The lead auror said.
Mother froze. "no. Please." the aurors grabbed her, and the rest of them, and took them to cells. By apparation. "what's going on?" hope asked. Confused, frightened, but unwilling to show her fear in front of her 3 younger siblings.
"you are werewolves." the auror nearest them said. "filthy halfbreeds. After every full moon your parents would obliviate you. See magics real. And you lot are dangerous beasts. You have to be registered, and though the age of responsibility for werewolves is 11, your brothers are under that. So your step parents were supposed to have registered them."
Hope looked horrified."but what will happen now?" she asked. "well, you and your step sister are over 11,hogwarts age, so it's your fault your not registered. You'll get 6 months in Azkaban. Your brothers are under 11, so they are not legally responsible.
"werewolves were so often prone to starvation and poverty, that Newt scamander, who set up the werewolf registry, created a new law. Any werewolf who wants can opt into a program, where they will live and work for other wizards. They must do whatever the wizards require, and in return they will be given food and water. While adult werewolves can opt in, all werewolves who are abandoned under the age of 11 will be forced into it. "
Teddy lupin stormed in the front door,angrily." dad!" he shouted "grandma! Have you heard of this new law!" Remus frowned. "of course teddy. But you'll be safe, half werewolves who don't turn are counted as human, it won't affect you." teddy scowled.
"it's not me I'm worried about. Dad, they are tricking werewolves into slavery. And now, this new law!" andromeda tonks came into the room. "what new law?" she asked. "all werewolves are now forbidden from 'seducing innocent humans' any werewolf found to have sex with a human is guilty of rape."
"that's awful" andromeda said. "but teddy, it won't make much difference. Your mum was a one of a kind, most werewolves only have other werewolves as partners." andromeda said.
Teddy nodded. "yes. But the law states that in any circumstances the werewolf is guilty of rape. Even if the human raped the werewolf, not only will the werewolf be incapable of legal action, but the werewolf will be the guilty one. The number of rapes on werewolves will go up so much now that pedophiles and perverts and rapists know that no legal action will come to them."
Remus looked at teddy, pain in his eyes." teddy, it shouldn't affect you. Maybe, you should leave, and try to forget. I should never have let this trouble you."
Teddy shook his head." no dad. This is my world too. And we will find her. I swear."
Andromeda sighed. "Dora thought she was making the right choice. She thought neither of you would survive, and she was trying to protect hope." teddy nodded. "but we have to find her. I have a twin. She's probably alone and scared."
