Welcome to the intro page of the new story! This isn't chapter one, nor is it a prologue. Instead, this is the summary of the plot's direction, so you can know if you want to follow it or not.

This is going to be something based on my own life as a swimmer in high school, and as such, both Ruby and Weiss will be meeting for the first time in the try-outs of the Signal Swim Team. There won't be any "just moved/transferred" twists either. Ruby and Weiss have been in the same basic area for years, they just haven't met before (High Schools pull from big areas. I met about six people who went to mine with me before going myself).

Here's the Plot course so far: Ruby is a sprinter, Weiss a distance girl, and both of them will start out with no particular love for the other party. By the end of Weiss' senior year however, there will be more than a simple friendship forged between the two girls.

I plan to make this one a slower burn, with four arcs for each year, and a few conflicts that will help flesh out their characters. I also plan for a small epilogue at the end so you all can see how everything ends.

Teaser:

Weiss stared up at the various records and growled, unhappy that none of them were hers yet. She'd been working out all year, over the summer, and pushing herself to the limits of her body, and yet she hadn't even made state last year. Now, she was a Sophomore, and she would go to that final meet if it killed her.

A small sound came from behind her, and Weiss turned to see a few other girls emerging from the locker rooms, their bare feet gently sounding along the tiles of the deck as they came to sit beside her. Unlike Weiss, their caps were in hand, as opposed to on and tightened. It just showed how little dedication they had. Weiss had dedication, and she had everything else she needed. She would win what she wanted, and nothing would stop her. She'd do it alone, because the strongest people pulled everyone else forward, not back.

While the boys and girls of the team filed out in front of the office, and the new wannabe's gathered on the other side of it, Weiss tried not to yell at the troublemakers. Screwing around, sitting on spare fold-out chairs, and chatting for no particular reason; all of them were loud and obnoxious. All Weiss wanted to do here was work out, improve, and work out some of the stress from her schoolwork, not socialize and gain additional headaches from the noise.

Oh, how water muted everything, making all the world much more focused. Weiss' heart longed to be back in the over-chlorinated liquid, just so she could get away from the meaningless prattle and noise of other people.
