Hey hey hey! RoyalMD here with a Destiny 2 and Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru crossover (but you probably knew that) I've been a long time fan of Destiny and I recently watched all of S1 of DanMachi and fell in love with that as well. So this is the result of that.
Some quick notes before we start. The Titan in this story is at 980 power level. All his gear will be available thanks to his Ghost, but rules like 1 exotic per slot will still apply. Furthermore, because this is a story he will be able to switch between Titan subclasses rapidly and the recharge for the abilities will come even more quickly. Also spoilers for Destiny 2 and it's DLC (Big ones)
I hope you all enjoy the story! Read, Fav, Follow and Review if you so chose! Have a good one - RoyalMD

-The light below-
"When all is lost, you will still be a Guardian, and you will still be enough." – Dawning Fortune
High above Mercury in the abyss that was space sat a lone ship, purple and black in colour it's metallic sheen seemed to glow with the light the stars. It was parked in orbit, stationery right now. A watcher against the threats that were supposedly en-route to try and take the sundial from Osiris.
The Vex had no business meddling so much with time travel.
The lone Titan wasn't worried. He had fought armies of the Vex in the past, and the light didn't fail him then. It wouldn't fail him now.
He leant back in the chair of his ship and closed his eyes. He was a Titan with centuries of experience, he could be patient for another couple of hours. Sitting there waiting allowed him to reminisce on his experiences leading up to the current scenario he was in.
Even though the two Vanguard members didn't exactly always agree with Osiris, they couldn't deny the threat of the Vex. To assist Osiris in defence of Mercury, they sent their best Guardian and when the Vanguard said: "The best Guardian" they meant it.
He was a Titan to be feared by all races.
The Fallen, The Cabal, The Hive and the Taken. When he was enraged, nothing could stand to the fury and heat of his Sunbreaker skills.
When he and his Fireteam had fought Xol, Will of the thousands, his Ward of Dawn had vehemently held back the attacks of the Hive god. As a Sentinel, he was unstoppable, a bulwark for his companions.
Finally, when he wanted to strike fear into the hearts of his enemies by God, did he do it with passion. His emotions in battle rolled off of him like the waves of lightning he created as a Striker as he dived headfirst into whatever challenge awaited him.
He was a Titan, and he chose to live up to that name.
It wasn't all him, however. He could not have climbed the Guardian ranks without the help of his Fireteam…
Daniel, the Jubilant human Hunter with a heart of gold, he always loved getting into trouble, such is the nature of a Hunter. Dan's aim with his golden gun was said to rival that of Cayde himself. Some believed he was better than Cayde (although the Exo always claimed most of Dan's achievements were luck)
Christoper, the Exo Warlock. Much more of a scholar than a fighter, but his control of the void was fierce. He quite the reputation in the Vanguard, often questioning their judgement and getting into philosophical debates with Ikora Rey, the Warlock Vanguard. His name was also spread as a legend in the crucible, he upheld the highest killstreak in a single crucible match with 65.
Together they completed almost impossible tasks. They had slain literal gods, held back invasions of unfathomable size. Still, they also had their heart to heart moments with each other, they baked cookies with one another during the dawning. Had sparrow races around the sol system, and importantly, they had built friendships that had lasted centuries.
Alas, they were gone now, they had fallen to the beast that was Riven. Too far from the travellers light to be brought back. Riven had been defeated, but at the loss of one of the best Fireteams, the Last City had ever witnessed.
He missed them dearly, and that was quite often reflected in his solitude now, other Fireteams had invited him to come on joint missions, but it never felt the same to him.
A voice knocked him out of his stupor "Come on, Matt, you're doing it again."
The Ghost moved off of his shoulder and hovered in front of him.
"It's been months now. I know it's hard, but you need to move on at some point. The Vanguard still needs you."
Matt stared at his Ghost, which he had named Charles. He didn't know why he chose that name all those years ago, but it had stuck.
The Ghost had been recently painted purple and orange, to honour his Fireteams, favourite light classes. It was just one other way of commemorating them.
"Yes, Charles, why do you think we are here at Mercury?"
The Ghost simply raised its shell, giving off a look that said: "I don't need your sarcasm right now."
Matt snickered before giving an actual answer this time
"I'm well aware they are gone, but let me grieve for a bit longer, it's hard to remember they aren't here with me sometimes.
The Ghost let out a sigh. When Matt's Fireteam had fallen, Charles had felt all the pain his Guardian did. Before they could say anything else, an alert popped up on the jumpships HUD.
"Matt, portal's opening in front-behind…, they're opening all around us." Not much could surprise the Titan anymore he had nearly seen it all, but still, the amount of Vex invasion ships was a surprise even for him.
"Charles, we're going planetside," he told his companion, before grabbing the controls for his ship and diving down towards Mercury's atmosphere, aiming for the sundial.
The ships that Guardians used for travel weren't suited for combat, they had some augments but they were much more focused on their goal of getting the Guardian to land on the planet.
Matt materialised at a distance from the sundial, he could see Minotaurs and harpies laying siege to the structure as Osiris was slowly starting to be overwhelmed. Matt activated his Sentinal shield and dashed forwards through the lines of Vex, determined to Make it to Osiris.
It was a shame then as Matt saw a Minotaurs laser hit Osiris and break through his defences. The keeper of the sundial collapsed to the ground in a heap. Matt knew that Osiris' Ghost 'Little Light' could revive him, but Matt's hope for this shattered as the Vex turned their fire onto the Ghost. Matt kept smashing his way through, not willing to stop. Still, it was too late as when he had beaten and crushed his way through the horde of Vex, Osiris was lying there at the foot of the Sundial entrance the shattered shell of a Ghost beside him. No presence of the Traveller remained in either of the corpses. Matt quivered with rage as his sentinel shield disappeared and instead a two-handed molten hammer appeared. The Code of the devastator would not provide mercy for these Vex, it only promised a world of hurt.
As Matt stepped into the sundial, he was surprised to see nothing in here. No Vex, no doorways. Empty. Matt turned around to head back outside but found out he was locked in here. Outside stood a Minotaur. Matt twirled his hammer at the doorway, hoping to force it open, but he knew it was hopeless. He had done the sundial missions in the past when they were rescuing Saint-14, and he knew nothing could break these doors.
Matt felt a wind start to move over him as he looked up and saw the sundial hands beginning to rotate, symbolising the beginning of a gate opening.
Matt looked outside at the Minotaur with a hateful glare as he felt the force get stronger. He was started to be pulled towards a pitch-black gate, with no way to stop himself. Matt yelled as he tried to fight the force, but you couldn't resist the sands of time in the sundial itself as was the law of the universe. The last thing that he heard before being pulled into the gate was the ominous voice of a Vex thought dead long ago.
"You truly thought I was beaten. Now you will suffer as I have suffered." The Undying Mind taunted him.
Matt only saw darkness.
High above the night sky of Orario, a streak in the heavens appeared, adventurers and families slept blissfully unaware of what was about to come to there world.
