"Congratulations to Jackson Roberts for earning top grades in all of his classes." Colonel Williams said. Jackson was bursting with pride and happiness, this was it, this was graduation day. The day he would become a soldier and he would soon be assigned his fighter alongside a squadron to command.
Several days later
"Lieutenant Roberts, Admiral Nimitz will see you now." The Admiral's Secretary said. Jackson nodded and nervously walked into the Admiral's office. No one had told him what he was here for or why it was considered urgent.
"Lieutenant Jackson Roberts, right?" Asked Admiral Nimitz.
"Yes, Sir." Jackson responded.
"It's a pleasure to meet the person who was top of his class in strategy but wouldn't take a planning job." The Admiral said, beaming.
Jackson couldn't help but smile as he said, "The pleasure is mine, Sir."
"Now, let's get to business. Currently you are assigned to the 300th Fighter Wing, correct?" Admiral Nimitz asked.
"Yes, Sir." Jackson responded.
"You will be with them for 2 more years then you will be reassigned to command the Azur Lane base near Hawaii. You are Vice Admiral effective when you begin your transfer to the base." The Admiral said flatly.
"Understood, Sir," Jackson Responded, "Thank you for your time, Sir."
Admiral Nimitz smiled and said, "One more thing Roberts. Give those Sirens hell for me."
"Yes, Sir." Jackson instinctively responded.
