Chapter I: Reborn In War

Deep within the vast unending expanse of countless star systems, there was only silence and the silence itself was replaced by a loud hum, a shadow loomed over a nearby moon slowly growing larger till it took on a triangular shape from below. This shape was flanked by two similar shapes and with it, the hum was replaced with explosions and blaster fire streaks of blue and red firing at one another.

Yet on the surface of the moon itself, a large installation was being attacked and inside the fire from above was now on the surface as dozens fired on one another. Voices echoed throughout the halls as dozens of fired streaks of blue and red firing in opposite directions, the blaster fired halted as a hum was followed a color is visible to the enemy.

An amethyst blade shining in the dark and with it a dark-robed figure stepped forward his face unable to be seen beneath the hood as he walked forward from the side of the invading force, the enemies themselves shouted as they fired.

"Kill Him!" One Shouted.

"Impossible, He's long dead. Everyone retreat!" Another said.

"Stand and fight! Are you Mandalorians or a bunch of tail-head cowards!" The leader shouted.

The blaster fire continued for several seconds as only the Mandalorians fired, the invaders themselves stood down as the warrior wielding the lightsaber cut a path through each one of the Mandalorians without mercy. At the end of the long hall was nothing but bodies, some with limbs or heads cut off and others crushed and broken beneath the force by the warrior who simply gestured for his troopers to move further into the base.

Which they did till finally, all that was left within the base was silence as at the head of the command center only three Mandalorians were managed to be taken alive all the rest were executed.

The hooded figured stepped into the room as his troopers stood at attention, the Mandalorians looked on as their helmets had been removed so the figure could see the fear in their faces. Stepping forward several feet he looked to one his men and spoke his voice was somewhat altered, it was deeper and almost synthesized.

"Is this all of the prisoner's Captain?" The figure turned to his right a trooper stepping forth quickly to respond.

"Yes General. As you requested three survivors only sir." The Captain responded.

"Good." The figure returned his attention back to the Mandalorians. "Tell me now, why is it Death Watch is out this far in the Outer Rim?"

The silence was the only response the figure received as he encircled the three members of Death Watch. The figure was amused, his thought was indeed Mandalorian Pride at it's finest but he had no time for the silent treatment as he raised two fingers lifting all three of them with the force. Their necks slowly choked more tightly with each squeeze as he began to speak.

"Why. Are. You. Out. Here?" He asked again.

"J-Jedi d-don't kk-kill!" The middle Mandalorian spoke.

"Good. We are getting somewhere." The figure said as he snapped the other two's necks.

"Y-You killed them why!?" The Mando asked a slightly bit of shock in his voice.

"Because when one speaks, you know you found the weakest point in the Beskar, Mandalorian." The figure said.

"What do you want to know then?" He asked still unsure of whom this Jedi was as he remained cloaked and hooded.

"A simple question." The figure stated. "What is Death Watch doing so far out here?"

"Bases." He stated. "Pre Vizsla wanted us to set up a base in the Outer Rim to work from in case anything happened."

"You mean besides your failed attempts to murder Duchess Satine." He stated.

"Yes. Pre Vizsla needed a new base to work from, he will lead us to restore Mandalore to what it stood for and we-"

The Mandalorians words were cut short as the figure reached out and begun a search through his mind. The search itself was easy as he continued, the figure saw images in his mind.

"Don't resist." The Figure said. "This will be unpleasant for you more than me." As he continued he spoke further, "I see weapons, armor, shipments to be delivered. You have more weapons and supplies coming, there are two other bases in this region."

"G-G-GET OUT OF MY HEAD AGHHH!" The Mandalorian fell to the ground exhausted and head pulsing badly after the experience.

Turning to face the captain of his troopers. "Captain Edge."

"Yes General?" He asked.

"Take this one back to my ship and prepare our troopers to depart." He stated as he continued. "I also want all weapons, armor, and supplies brought onboard our ships as-well understood."

"Of course General at once." Edge saluted as he turned to face his troopers. "You heard the General. Get those supplies and everything onboard at once!"

"YES, SIR!" The Troopers said in unison.

Walking back through the hallway, the hooded figure watched as his men began relieving the dead members of Death Watch of their armor, weapons, and jetpacks and having everything loaded onto their Venator Star Destroyer.

Once back aboard the vessel, the figure watched as everything of essential need was loaded leaving the base nothing more then a scrounged ruin. Soon enough Captain Edge made his way onto the bridge as he stood at attention for his General to debrief on the current situation.

"General." Edge stated. "Our troops have recovered all supplies, weapons, and armor as per your orders sir."

"Good captain. Casualties?"

"Negative sir. No casualties only eight wounded and six in need of minor burns no significant damage to our troopers." Edge said.

"Good. Thank you, Edge you are relieved of duty for the next six hours. Get some rest old friend." The figure said.

"Of course General." Edge saluted. As he turned and left the bridge leaving it for his General to be alone and contemplate in silence.

/Coruscant/Jedi Temple, High Council Tower

The Jedi Council was currently in session as over the last few days confirmed reports by Republic spies had confirmed reports since Death Watch's failed attempt to assassinate Satine Kryze, Death Watch itself had begun to slowly be picked apart since that day.

"Reports from Republic spies suggest this is not Count Dooku, nor the Separatists attacking the Death Watch." Master Windu stated.

"Who then would want a war with Death Watch?" Obi-Wan stated. "Ever since we saved the Duchess she herself has found it concerning they have made no more moves against her."

"Hmm. Possible it is, a new foe has entered the fold yes. Yoda stated with a troubled look.

"Some of our Republic agents have even stated that whoever is doing this is not only killing members of Death Watch. But also taking their weapons, armor, and stockpiled supplies." Windu added.

"Obviously someone is looking to stockpile a small army with Death Watch's own supplies," Obi-Wan added. "Perhaps someone wants to shake things up in the underworld most likely."

"Doubtful it is. If so, they would not need the Death Watch." Yoda stated. "Clouded our vision is. The Darkside clouds all, while this war continues."

The masters of the council all could nod in agreement on this as they had to think on this matter greatly. All the while this war in their minds could allow individuals from any station or place to rise in shadows of war.

/Outer Rim Territories/ Vizsla Keep 09

Aboard the station members of Death Watch were training more intensely than usual due to the increased attacks on Death Watch territories. Pre Vizsla alongside his second-in-command Bo-Katan spoke with one another as they watched from an observation platform.

"How many more outposts have we lost!?" Vizsla asked.

"Six in the last two days Vizsla," Bo stated in a bitter tone. "We need to gather all our troops and find who's responsible at once."

"And what happens if we find them hmm?" He asked looking up. "Obviously they have superior numbers. From what my men told us it's a Jedi who is doing this!"

"We will kill this Jedi, Vizsla. You hold the Darksaber and we will take our home back from the pacifists." Bo said. Trying to reassure Vizsla.

Vizsla simply remained silent as he overlooked a map of the known galaxy for several moments ignoring all around him till the normal lighting in the room was replaced with red as alarms rang out.

"What's happening!?" Vizsla shouted as he looked outward.

"Alert enemy vessels exiting hyperspace, Alert enemy vessels exiting hyperspace." The alert stated.

Looking outward toward space itself, Vizsla and Bo watched as three Venator-Star Destroyers appeared above them. The ships themselves soon deployed dozens of fighters along with LAAT Gunships to land onto the station to take it from the Death Watch, both Vizsla and Bo watched as the fighters bombed everything around them. Aboard the head Venator, the cloaked figure watched as Vizsla Keep was being attacked and overran as footsteps could be heard from behind him knowing it was Captain Edge.

"Yes, captain?" The figure asked.

"Sir we have successfully cut off enemy fighters before they had time to launch, our own men are beginning landing operations now sir. Do you want me to prepare your personnel shuttle sir?" Edge asked.

"No. I shall join you and your men captain, let us leave at once I have words with Vizsla thanks to our prisoner." The figure stated as they bother departed.

Onboard the station itself many LAAT gunships had punched through the shielding of the station and begun landing, dozens of troopers took up defensive formations and opened fire. A wide arrange of blaster fire volleyed across the entire battlefield along with oncoming rocket hits from the Mandalorians jetpacks that blew apart the makeshift barricade defenses the clones used for cover.

"I want our people to evacuate at once!" Vizsla stated as they walked through the rining hallway.

"Our ships have been disabled. We only managed to have three of our Kom'rk Fighter's launched before our hanger bays were destroyed." One member added.

"THEN GET OUT THEIR AND FIX IT!" Vizsla Yelled. This response put his men on edge as they ran to get the hangars cleared of enemy forces by any means necessary.

Two more LAAT Gunships arrived shortly and with it more clone reinforcements alongside Captain Edge, and the cloaked figure who walked alongside Edge to meet with their troops who got a foothold on the base.

"Status report trooper." Edge stated wanting an update.

"Sir we've lost twelve troopers. Crafty bastards had trap's in place but our forces have pushed them back further into the installation." The trooper reported.

"Anything else to report then our losses?" The hooded figure said his tone somewhat saddened by the loss.

"We managed to disable and destroy their other hanger bays General." The trooper said continuing. "Also we have confirmed reports Pre Vizsla is aboard as well sir."

"Good work." He stated. "Gather our dead. We will honor them once Vizsla is no more, make sure our wounded are returned to our ships Captain."

"YES, SIR!" Edge saluted. Turning toward his men to give orders. "You heard the General move our men now on the double!"

"YES, SIR!" The other troopers said.

Continuing forward Edge spoke with his general on what to do next about the Death Watch once they captured Vizsla. "Sir what happens when we capture him?"

"What makes you believe Vizsla would allow himself to be captured captain?" He stated as they continued walking.

"That's insane, sir." Edge said. "Vizsla knows he can't escape there would be no other way to get off unless he killed us all or died trying."

"Exactly captain. That's why to prevent further losses, I shall challenge Vizsla myself then take what he owns by right." The figure stated.

"How so sir?" Edge said as he wasn't too versed in Mandalorian Tradition.

"Challenging that fool for the right to lead the Death Watch is the best option to further prevent loss of life. Along with this, we will add more forces to our own." He stated.

"Of course General, I think I understand sir." Edge said.

"Good captain." He said as they reached a doorway. "Now it's time to remain silent and end this farce of a traditionalist society here and now."

As the doors slid open the lights of the larger hangar opened to the sight of all the entirety of Death Watch gathered around. Vizla, Bo-Katan and many others were indeed present and accounted for as the hooded figure along with Captain Edge and his men entered with weapons ready for a fight.

"So the Jedi has found his way to us," Vizsla stated. "You have earned our attention, attacking and killing my brothers and sisters. Why have you hunted us Jedi?"

"My reasons are my own." He stated. "You, however, will live long enough to see why I hunt you like dogs across this stagnant galaxy." He said his tone evident with a distaste for the Mandalorians.

"Then fight us then Jedi. If you can even stand against even one us heh." Vizsla said his tone full of confidence and bravado.

"No." The figure said.

"No?" Vizsla puzzled by his remark.

The figure pointed out to Vizsla. "I challenge only you, one warrior to another and the strongest will take and rule Death Watch."

The entire room filled with laughter as the Mandalorians couldn't believe what they were hearing even Vizsla and Bo thought this was ridiculous as even they laughed at the prospect.

"You!?" Vizsla said. "HAHA, You could never lead the Death Watch you're a Jedi ha!"

"If I am incapable of leading then so are you Pre Vizsla." He stated.

"Heh, and what makes you believe I am incapable of leading my people to glory. To return Mandalore to what it should be!" He asked.

"You may be a Mandalorian by blood and heritage." He said as he walked forward. "Yet your entire clan is a joke, you hate the Jedi yet you hold the weapon of one and consider it a powerful symbol to rule your people."

Vizsla listened, his fist slightly clenching at how this Jedi would mock the heritage of Mandalore and what this blade means to his people.

"Your people once relied on another such holy relic, the mask of Mandalore The Ultimate. Yet it was forgotten to time just like how your people forget all failure." He stated as he stopped in the center of the room.

"How would you know about that mask?" Vizsla demanded. "You know nothing of our people, the suffering we've endured under this pacifist regime." The disdain was evident in his tone.

"I know enough that it will end as it always does for your people." The figure stated. "In bloodshed, in war, and finally with the death of the one called Mand'alor at someone's hands." The figure said pulling his hood back.

Both Vizsla and Bo-Katan's eyes widened as they looked upon the figure who revealed himself finally to them from behind the hood of his robes. The man wore an ancient Neo-Crusader Mandalorian mask with a red and gray coloring to it and a large deep vertical scratch scarring the left part of the mask and crossing the eye slit. Yet both Vizsla and Bo knew this mask well as they had known the legends of the one who defeated the Mandalorians so long ago during the Neo-Crusades led by Mand'alor The Ultimate.

"Revan!?" Vizsla and Bo-Katan said in unison.

"A familiar name yes?" He said walking forward. "An old name, a respected and hated name to most and feared by those who remember on Mandalore."

Vizsla stood firm as he stepped forth only for Bo-Katan to place her hand on his shoulder but he brushed it off as he walked forward to face this "ghost" from Mandalore's past.

"You wish to test your skills against mine then," Vizsla stated a smirk growing on his face. "Very well then once I kill you, I will tear that mask from your lifeless corpse Jedi," Vizsla said igniting the Darksaber.

"We shall see then Mandalorian. The time for bravado is over." Revan stated as he tossed his cloak to the side along with his lightsaber which confused Vizsla.

"I doubt this will be a fair fight if you don't use your precious lightsaber Jedi," Vizsla said mockingly.

"A lightsaber is only an extension of the user. For this battle I will not need it against you I feel this will be more than enough." Revan said pulling out a vibroblade from his back holster.

A large smirk pulled over Vizsla as he prepared. "Very well then. Let's end this Jedi."

Both Vizsla and Revan entered into a duel with each other, Revan took a defensive form as Viszla came swinging his blade at him with strong yet unrefined blows with each consecutive hit. Revan took to using Form II in this part of the fight, using only one hand to block each blow effortlessly.

Swinging at Revan's legs with several quick slashes Vizsla tried to catch the Jedi off guard but it did not work. Using his jetpack he lifted himself backward firing his blasters to change the odds only as Revan blocked the bolts and sending one flying back into Vizsla's chest plate causing him to crash to the floor.

Revan launched forward with all his momentum as Vizsla got back to his feet, slicing a clean-cut under his opponent's arm where his armor couldn't protect him as blood flowed from the wound. Vizsla pulled back using the flamethrower in his vambraces to halt Revan who simply jumped over the flames and slicing through Vizsla's jetpack causing it to go critical.

Discarding it quickly, Vizsla held tightly to his Darksaber as he rushed at Revan yelling in fury, Revan took up a defensive stance as he prepared yet Vizsla smirked as he launched several disc-shaped buzzsaws at his opponent.

Revan slid under the blades as both he and Vizsla clashed blades with both landing singular slashes on the other, as Revan came upward his blade with Vizsla's blood on it. Vizsla himself was breathing heavily as he turned to see a wound present near Revan's waist as it was singed.

A smirk was present on Visla as he rose upward only for a sharp pain to hit him causing him to fall to the ground coughing blood up onto the clean sleek floor. The members of Death Watch looked onward stunned as Revan rose and walked toward Vizsla as if the wound bothered him little, while Bo-Katan aimed her weapon to fire only for it to be crushed in her hand by Revan.

"Interfere again and your head will be on the floor next," Revan stated. "Now this ends here for good."

Vizsla continued to cough as he looked up. "Y-You have the skill...I will give you that. Only the strongest..will ."

Tilting his head, Revan tilted Vizsla's head up as he spoke. "I want you to know something Vizsla, this has all happened thanks to you."

Confused and bleeding out he watched as Revan removed his mask. Unable to believe who's face lay under the mask it was one of shock and Revan's words were indeed true this was all due to him and what he has done. Everyone else around couldn't see Revan's face as he made sure of it so only Vizsla would know who it was before he died.

"Y-Y-Your!?" Before another word could be uttered Vizsla's head was quickly severed from his head with the Darksaber. All of Death Watch now stood in utter disbelief as their leader lay dead before them.

Revan took the blade in one hand as he looked toward the Death Watch stepping over the dead body of Pre Vizsla and making his way toward Bo-Katan and the other members of Death Watch but they all stepped back in fear.

"You all bow before tradition. A tradition built upon that of ironically a Mandalorian Jedi that whoever holds this blade shall rule Mandalore and lead its people." Revan started looking to the blade.

"You will never rule Mandalore!" Bo-Katan stated defiantly. "You an outsider and Jedi at that shall never rul- Aghh!" Bo's voice cut off as she was lifted with the force.

"I have grown tired of your traditionalist and creed like view of things," Revan said in an annoyed tone. "Today that tradition and creed die with your precious Pre Vizsla, how far your people's knowledge of those who claimed Mand'alor for themselves irritates me even further."

Revan released his grip on Bo-Katan as her Nite Owls came to her aid quickly, while the remaining entirety of Death Watch bowed before Revan as he was now the leader of Death Watch as was tradition due to him winning.

Revan himself behind his mask cared little for worship as he looked down at the Darksaber a weapon crafted by the ancient Jedi Tarre Vizsla and used to murder Jedi and bring forth memories of the Neo-Crusades. Even this object this "symbol" was no different from the mask of Mand'alor The Ultimate a symbol that must be destroyed and forgotten.

Using the force he extended the hilt outward as the Death Watch and Bo-Katan watched in horror as it crumbled and broke under the weight of the force itself. Till finally, the blade was no more all that remained was the blackened Kyber Crystal that Revan retrieved and crushed in the palm of his hand as it slowly blew away across the deck of the ship.

"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE YOU FOOL!" Bo yelled in shock. Aiming her weapon at his head to fire only to be stopped by the force.

"As I told you the moment I killed Vizsla." He said as he stood with her his mask reflecting the fear in her eyes. "Your dogmatic creed and ways die with him."

"G-Gah!" Bo could only feel fear as her blaster moved back and upward toward her head as she stood powerless to do anything. "Then what do you want!?"

"Peace." He said calmly.

"W-What!?" Her confusion was evident in her eyes. "You did this all for peace! Hunted us and murdered our people for peace!?"

"No." He said as he turned back toward his men. "Soon the Jedi, the Sith, the Republic, the Separatist Alliance will all burn away. In its place, something new will rise from the ashes of the corruption and stagnation that has decayed the galaxy for a thousand years."

All listened as Revan went on most understood and others were indeed afraid he sought not only the demise of the Republic and Separatist but the Jedi and Sith. Bo-Katan couldn't believe what she was hearing and couldn't fathom why Revan's men followed him down this path of fanatical self-destruction.

"T-Then what happens to me?" She asked.

"You will live," Revan stated plainly as he released his grip on her. "You are loyal to your people, I respect that. I do but the time for this dogmatic belief is over, I ask you Bo-Katan Kryze to stand with me."

Bo looked up seeing Revan's hand waiting for her answer. Between death and life serving this Jedi whom she came to now fear, she would rather choose to serve as she took his hand out of fear.

"What happens now...Lord Revan." Bo-Katan asked hesitantly.

"Now we prepare and light the fire that will consume this puppet war that has been forged by the Sith," Revan said continuing with a chant. "Two there should be. No more, no less. One to embody power, the other to crave it."

/Aboard Revan's Flagship, The Leviathan/

Supplies, weapons, and more were being both brought aboard the Venator along with being exported to the newly acquired station he took. As now Revan had complete control of the Death Watch and with it everything else that would soon fall into place as he now could hear footsteps approaching from behind.

"You wished to see me, Lord Revan?" Bo-Katan stated. A hint of resentment in her tone.

"Yes, I did. How goes the repairs for the station?"

"Well my lord. Repairs will be completed by tomorrow along with additions added per your orders." She stated.

"Good then," Revan said. As he placed his hands behind his back to turn to face Bo-Katan. "Make sure everything is in place for our men, for the following days ahead understood?"

"Of course my lord," Bo said as he bowed her head hesitantly.

"Good I have things I must attend to," Revan said passing by her,

"My lord," Bo said hesitantly as she continued. "Why fight The Republic, The Jedi, and Separatists? What have you to gain?"

Revan halted in his tracks as he didn't turn once to face his newly acquired soldier and with a simple head turn he spoke up telling his reasons for why he was willing to go to war with the galaxy itself.

"There was a time when The Republic, The Jedi, and the Galactic Senate cared more for the people rather than lining they're own pockets. To help those in the Outer Rim Territories." He stated.

Revan continued on as he had Bo-Katan walk with him. "In a thousand years, the effectiveness of The Republic much like the Jedi Order has been choked by corruption. Coruscant slowly rots away and they don't even see it."

"And you want to what just destroy it all?" Bo asked. "Even the Separatist Alliance why?"

"The Separatists much like the Republic believe in freedom and democracy." He said as they continued walking. "I can respect them for walking away however, like the Republic they are both ruled by corruption and they too are blind to see it."

"So what you just want to burn it all down then?" She asked.

"No." He put clearly. "But it has been shown that both the Republic and Separatists will continue down this path so long as their puppet-master continues to pull their strings. I attend to cut the strings then burn the stage entirely."

"Why would you go through all this trouble?" She asked. "You have more at stake in this then you are saying aren't you?"

"All I shall say is this Bo-Katan Kryze." Revan put simply. "I've lost more than you and your precious Mandalorian Traditions ever could. So remember that next time you wish to interrogate me, now return to your duties."

"Y-Yes my lord." She said as she lowered her head bowing.

Revan had left Bo to think on that as he returned to his private quarters, the room itself was dimly lit shadows in every corner of the room and very minimalist in nature only a large bed and table and repair station. A small hiss could be heard and with it, Revan removed his mask and placed it on the table as he himself sat in the center of his room and meditated.

Images appeared in Revan's mind a mix of blaster fire, clanking of metallic feet on the sand and the roaring of beasts and buzzing of wings. Streaks of different colored lightsabers filled the bright hot-filled arena as the images continued and the sound of voices echoing.

"Too many of them, regroup we cannot allow them to encircle us!"

"Are these droids without end! We are losing too many Jedi, Master Plo!"

"Hold your ground my former padawan. We will make it out of this, trust in The Force!"

"Blast those Jedi!"

Blaster fire continued in the vision as countless Jedi fell to the streaks of constant blaster fire and the clanking of the droids grew louder and with it the voices of those who fell ever louder. The vision itself grew more distorted and darker as the screams grew worse till Revan's eyes opened.

"NO!" He said. Losing his concentration as he fell to the ground from his meditation, streaks of sweat beating down the sides of his face.

"Sir?" A voice echoed over a comm. "General Revan?"

"Report?" He said his tone somewhat off-set by the vision

"We heard yelling sir and wanted to ensure your safety." A trooper asked.

"I am fine. Tell Captain Edge, I will be all right just continue with your workmen." Revan stated.

"Understood sir." The trooper said as the communication ended.

Revan stood up from his spot and took his mask in one hand placing it back on as he took a moment to look out from his personnel window. He could feel his heart still racing but soon it calmed and with it, his composure reformed as he could feel something watching behind a small dim light in his reflection.

"Your troubled again."

"No. Just simply meditation again it's the same as before." Revan states.

"You must let go of that memory. You could not save them, nor know how many you would lose in that fight." The voice echoed. It was calm yet held wisdom and strength behind it.

"I understand. I..will do what I can to ensure this won't happen again, I thank you for speaking with me again." Revan said his tone sincere.

"Of course, remember my pupil. You carry the name Revan but you must remember why you chose it and what you will make the name represent going forward." The voice said.

"Of course. Thank you for the reminder." Revan stated.

"Rest my pupil. The galaxy may perceive you soon as an enemy but to the people, you must be that which will bring peace and order. Even if you are hated for it in the beginning." The voice echoed as it vanished.

Revan gave a simple nod as he saw the light in the reflection vanish from his room, breathing a sigh of relief as he sat on the edge of his bed. His eyes closed and for the first time since he began this crusade, he felt a moment of peace and silence in all that would follow hereafter.
