(Intro and Author's note: This short story is set after the events of MK4,taking place in the good old days of the original prime timeline before the rebooting and all that went with it in MK9-11. And is probably set before the events of MK:DEADLY ALLIANCE. Some of us miss the good ol'days of MK's original prime timeline don't we?)

Now,on with the show.
A BIG NOISE PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS:
"MORTAL KOMBAT:JOHNNY CAGE!"
Somewhere deep in the bowels and swamps of the evil dimensional world known as Outworld,one lone warrior races through the swamps and marsh to save an imprisoned captor he's sworn his life to.
His name,Johnny Cage,action movie star and celluloid hero of earthrealm.
"I've gotta get there,"he thought. "and save the princess,before it's too late!"
Suddenly,Johhny saw someone leap out of the shadows and land directly in front of him.
He was a ninja clad in a yellow and black ninja costume and had on a skull like mask over his face.
Johhny knew all too well who he was.
"Scorpion!" he said.
"Johnny Cage!"said the spectre ninja. "We didn't think we'd ever see your face around here again."
"Well i'm back,so to speak."he said. "Now mind getting out of my way? I have an appointment to keep and a princess to save!"
"Not on your life mortal!"said the ninja. "The master has hired me to keep you from venturing any further,the princess's life form is vital to his very plan."
"So...I guess a fight is gonna be on then?"said Johnny as he got into his fight stance.
"You guessed right."said Scorpion.
The ninja made the first move as he threw his dreaded spear rope at Johhny.
Cage simply sidestepped it and then rushed forward and did his famed Green aura Shadow Kick,right into Scorpion's very midsection,knocking the villian completely backwards.
Scorpion landed to the ground,but managed to leap backwards and onto his feet again.
"You shall die!"he said as he rushed forward again.
Cage and Scorpion traded blows at each other,Scorpion did a roundhouse,but Cage ducked it and came up at him with Rising Shadow uppercut.
Scorpion was knocked backwards again,but then he did his own trick,he vanished.
"Wha?"said Cage. "No more tricks,Scorpion!"
Suddenly,Johhny felt the back of his head get hit by a hard drop punch.
He swung around and saw Scorpion stand before him.
"Yeah,forgot about that tele-punch he always does!"he though. "I'd better be on my guard here twice as much!"
Scorpion attempted another tele-attack,but just as he vanished,Johhny swung back around and saw the ninha re-appear in front of him.
Johhny saw his chance,and flund a green fireball right into the ninja's very face.
"EERK!"cried Scorpion as he staggered backwards.
Johnny then saw a final opening,it was now or never.
He leapt at the ninja and did a flying shadow kick that knocked the ninja down for the count.
Scorpion landed on the ground with a thud and was out cold.
Johnny landed on his feet and took his shades off and adusted them.
"One bozo down."he said as he placed his sunglasses back on. "A whole mess to go."
Johhny then ran down through the valley as fast as his designer blue and black sneakers could carry him.
Suddenly,someone else appeared in front of him out of the shadows.
It was an outworld mutant creature,but not just any creature,it was of humanoid in appearance,but it's fang ridden mouth and arm blades was one that Johhny was also all too familair with.
"BARAKA!"said Cage. "I should've known you'd show your ass as well!"
Baraka grinned wickedly and brandished his arm blades.
"You bested me before,mortal!"he said. "But not this time,i'll slice you to flesh and blood ribbons!"
"Yeah?"said Johnny as he beckoned to the mutant. "Bring it!"
Baraka made the first move as he fired one of his blade projectiles from his his arm.
Johhny ducked it and rushed at the mutant.
Cage attempted another Shadow Kick,but Baraka dodged it and attempted to attack Cage with his blades.
Cage ducked it and dodged the first two blade attacks and then leapt away from him to safety.
"You can't dodge my blades forever!"said the mutant as he rushed in.
"Who says I have to?"said Cage. "Come and get it!"
Baraka leapt at Cage,diving in for the kill.
But to the mutant's suprise Johnny leapt upwwards and did a rising sommersault kick flip that connected with Baraka's very chin and sent the mutant crashing to the ground.
Johhny landed on his feet once again and then stopped to catch his breath.
"Yup,learning some new tricks always comes in handy."he said. "See ya later,fang face!"
Johhny then began to run down through the swamp till he came across his very goal.
A large and dark castle fortress made up of obsidian and metal stood before him.
"BINGO!"he said. "That's the castle the monks told me about,the castle where the princess is being held!"
Johnny then ran up the gate and stopped before it.
"Now,how do I get in here exactly?"he said as he placed his very hand on the metal gate.
"YOU WILL GO NO FURTHER!"shouted a menacing and dark voice.
"Aw hell,now what?"said Cage.
"AND CUT!"said another voice.
Johhny turned to see an entire film crew standing before him across the very movie set he stood on.
There was a film director,sitting in his chair with a megaphone in his hand,a large movie camera with a man sitting behind it's controls,several stands of film lights and other film hands handling them.
A blonde haired woman stood next to the director,she was holding a copy of the script and directions.
"How was that Warren?"said Cage.
"Good job as always Johnny,good job!"said Warren the film director as he got up. "You handled the fight scenes beutifully!"
"What can I say?"said Cage as he flexed a muscle. "I always aim to please and I never miss!"
"Heh,you sure don't."said Warren. "Okay cindy,what's next in the script?"
Cindy,the woman with the script and directions adressed the situation.
"It says that next up Johhny has to face the man monster known as Goro at the front gate,and that's where the next fight scene comes in."she said.
"Good to know."said Warren. "Okay boys in the back,get that Goro robot out here and pronto!"
Johhny saw a robot replica of the Goro creature come walking out of the shadows and a couple of techno-geeks were handling it by way of remote control.
"Looks good Sato,looks good."said Cage.
"Thanks !"said Andy Seto. "My partners and I at Tek-titans did our very best to copy the same exact details of the monster you faced back in that cooky tournament."
Cage looked at the Goro-bot's face and grinned. "And it sure shows doesn't it?"
Just then,Scorpion and Baraka appeared again and it was revealled that they were really actors/stuntmen playing Cage's enemies as they then removed their masks and revealled human faces of men.
"And good job to you both for playing the bad guys."said Warren. "You helped here bring the scene to life."
"A pleasure as always ."said the Baraka actor. "I take a great deal of pride and joy in bringing Johnny Cage flicks to life."
"Yeah,same here."said the Scorpion actor. "Just as long as the pay's just as good."
"You get your payments as always for a job well done Ted."Johnny said to the Scorpion actor. "Just make it good for me and the rest of us."
"Hey,no problem man."said Scorpion.
"Okay then guys."said Warren. "We're gonna need you in the future scenes as guardsmen in the throne room,so..get on over to the wardrobe and change into your next costumes."
"Will do boss."said the Scorpion actor.
But before the Baraka actor was leaving he went over to a part of the movie set and took out a rolled up poster with a pen and handed them to Johnny.
"Uh, ."said Fred the Baraka actor. "I was wondering if you could sign this for my nephew? He's a big fan of yours?
"Sure thing."said Johnny as he unrolled the poster,it was a large portrait of Johhny standing heroically in his original black and red fight togs(That he wore all the way back in MK1.)
He wrote the words:"TO MY BEST FAN EVER...JOHNNY CAGE!" and then handed it back to Fred.
"I'd frame that."he said to Fred.
"Heh-heh..sure thing ,and thanks!"said Fred as he then took off towards the wardrobe building with Ted.
"Eats it up doesn't he?"Cindy whispered to Andy.
"Yeah,with a spoon."Andy whispered back.
Warren then approached Johhny.
"Okay Johnny."he said. "It's going to take a little while to set up the next scene,so go back to your trailer and take a break till we call you."
"Sure thing Warren."said Cage. "After all that,I could use a little break."
Johhny then went over to a nearby hat rack and put on a blue and black jacket that had the initials JC over it's side breat and back.
"And oh yeah,I meant to ask you about who was playing that princess again?"said Cage.
"Yeah,her name's Lina Chiu."said Warren. "She's some hot shit asian american actress who decided to take part in her first action movie after doing all that drama and romance dribble. She says...it would be an honor to work with the famed Johhny Cage."
"She said that?"said Cage.
"Well,according to her publicist and agent that is."said Warren. "Who knows? She's over at trailer D from yours and she's getting dolled up for the next scene,so...you'll see her soon as well."
"Well,good to know."said Johnny.
He then went off to his trailer that was across the backlot from the studio building he worked in.
Johhny walked through the backlots of what was called THRESHOLD STUDIOS and there he saw other actors and filmmaker teaming with life in other studio buildings.
There was even a film tour bus going past him giving it's vistors the daily tour.
One fan popped their head out the window and shouted.
"HEY..IT'S HIM...IT'S JOHNNY CAGE,WOO-HOO!"he shouted.
Johhny simply smiled and waved to the boy who saw him.
He was then just about to make it to his trailer when suddenly a group of hot and ready female fans stopped right in front of him.
"Uh-oh...!"thought Johhny. "Just when I was about to make it."
"It's him!"said a young brunette. "IT'S JOHNNY CAGE!
The girls all screamed and hooted around him,all trying to get their pictures and autographs from him.
"Okay,okay ladies,one at a time."he said as relaxed as he could sound.
Within a few minutes,he took several selfie pics with some of them and signed their autograph books and posters of him as well.
One hot and bodacious blonde woman then grabbed ahold of him and kissed him square on the mouth.
Johhny nearly fell back and wiped the lipstick off his mouth.
"I..take it your a fan?"he said.
The woman grinned in a sultry manner.
"I always wanted to kiss a star like you,Johnny."
Johhny blushed. "Heh,ma'mm."he said before he then took off and ran into his very trailer.
"Ooh,whatta dreamboat"said another chick.
"Yeah,next time i'll just see how good he is under the sheets,heh-heh."said the same blonde woman.
Ted the same stuntman who played Scorpion saw the whole spectacle unfold from a distance.
He puffed on his cigarrete and removed it from his mout and thought with a sneer.
"Enjoy it while you can ya jerk."he thought. "Even in Hollywood stars come and go.
Someday,the whole world will hear of..Ted Dukes!"
Johnny then locked up his front door and then crashed onto the nearby couch.
"Man,if I didn't love the movie life so damn much!"he said. "But geez...are fans like that perks or just headaches these days? I wonder?"
Johnny then took off his jacket,laid it on the couch and then went to his nearby mini-fridge and got out an ice cold coor's beer.
He then nestled into his sofa chair,propped up his feet onto the ottaman before it.
Johhny then took out a tv remote and flipped on the wide screen tv that stood before him.
He turned onto the playboy channel and then took a swig of his beer.
"It feels good to get some real work done for a change instead of saving the world from outworld monsters."he thought. "But sometimes I wonder if i'll ever get to see or hear the likes of Liu Kang or Raiden and the others again?
Hmmm..that Sonya Blade chick though,I really gotta get in touch with her sometime at that."
FIVE MINUTES LATER:
Johnny Cage was back on the set and ready for action once again.
Warren called from his megaphone.
"QUIET ON THE SET!"
A young film crew hand came up the set and got out his film maker and aimed it in front of the very camera.
"DRAGONFIST III!"he said. "SCENE 04,TAKE ONE!" he said and then clapped the top of the board and took off.
"AND..ACTION!" said Warren.
Johhny Cage then went back into action as the next exciting scene began.
