After 15 minutes of sitting in her car staring at his, dimly lit, house she finally found the courage to push aside her pride and walk up to his entryway. She stood there uncomfortably for only a few moments before knocking on the large white door. She glanced back at her vehicle, while slightly squinting her eyes, as the sun continued to rise into the morning sky.
A handful of minutes passed, as Sandy nervously waited. She had just started fidgeting with her hands when the door finally cracked open. A tall dark furred male had poked his head out of the door, and she looked apologetically at his tired face.
"Uh… Hiya!" She looked down briefly in embarrassment, but not completely understanding the overwhelming severity of it. She cleared her throat as she looked back up at him and tried to push away the wave of nervous jitters she was experiencing from her attempted apology effort. "I, uh, just thought I should come by, and admit that… well…" She closed her eyes and sighed heavily before returning her focus on the man, still hiding behind the door, in front of her. I may have been a bit too bullheaded last night. You brought up some good points, and I should'a heard you out before running my mouth and casting your thoughts aside." A meek smile consumed her lips as she continued. " I know I ain't good at showing it, but your thoughts really do matter to me, and… I'm sorry."
Shadow continued to look at her blankly through the crack of his open door before finally replying "Ok" While trying to shut the door on her. Sandy, in shock by his response, was able to stop her male friend from closing the door on her and managed to push it wide-open. She was still taken aback by his action until a different voice from rang out from inside the house.
"Hey! I thought you were coming back to bed!" A tall, large breasted woman, walked out of the hallway clad in an oversized tee-shirt and, what Sandy figured were a pair of Shadows boxers. The large brown fox pressed herself tightly against Shadows back while hugging him. Then the mystery woman played coy while noticing Sandy at the open door. "Who'she?" The woman pretended to whisper before giggling.
Shadows face dropped into irritation, as Sandy's was overtaken by horror. Shadow barked at the woman behind him to go back to the bedroom while he dealt with the visitor. He kept his eye angrily fixated on Sandy the whole time.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know-" Sandy started before falling silent at the realization of she had just interrupted him with one of his "friends".The brown furred female started stumbling backwards, away from her friend's door, as her feeling of horror turned into dread, and then crippling pain. She was bombarded with so many feelings so fast, she knew she couldn't hold back the tears building up inside of her. She turned around and quickly paced back to her jeep that was parked on the street in front of the blue house she had intended to visit.
She didn't bother looking towards Shadow while she started the car, and quickly pulled away, as she didn't want to feel anymore humiliation that she just experienced. Wave after wave of intensely unexpected emotion flowed through her. She was so over taken after a few blocks she had to pull over and turn her vehicle off. She began to shake, and cry, with intensity. Sandy, who had been in denial, now had to face the reality of her feelings for her newest friend. Shadow meant a lot to her, but she had been down playing just how much his company was worth to her. Now, after seeing him choose the company of another woman, did she realize how hooked she had become… how weak. She didn't like it.
After ten minutes of sobbing she was finally able to pull herself together enough to wipe her eyes and restart her car. Heavy breaths escaped her mouth as she tried to keep her focus off the still burning heart ache she was still experiencing in her chest. However, she just found now herself fixated with how stupid she had been to think that there could have been something between them. Heavy depression had set in by the time she made it back to the dirt road leading to the small log cabin she had been staying in the past few months.
Sandy slowly dragged herself out of the car and inside her current residence that was just outside the city limits. She didn't even bother to close the front door behind her as she fell straight back into bed. The day had just begun, but she was already over it. She closed her eyes and prayed that she' wake up back home in Texas. Despite knowing how impossible it was she held to that wish as she gently cried herself back to sleep.
