A green laser beam came down from the sky. Any remaining Grimm were quickly obliterated.
The students looked up and saw the silhouette of someone flying through the air using rocket boots. The strange, feminine figure landed nearby and Ruby's silver eyes widened.
Orange hair. Green dress. Grees eyes.
"P-Penny?" Ruby whispered.
The person who so closely resembled the gynoid Ruby knew from what seemed like a lifetime ago turned to face the Silver-Eyed reaper. The girl smiled brightly. "Salutations, Ruby!"
Ruby gasped, as did the other students who had seen the gynoid die at Amity Arena.
Penny walked up to Ruby, never losing that friendly smile. "It's so great to see you again! I would've gone looking for you, but It took quite a bit of time to fully repair me and even after that I was needed here. We have so much catching up to do!"
Ruby barely processed what she had just heard. Her dead friend was alive and standing before her. "You're... You're alive?"
"Of course," Penny answered. "My primary core was recovered and all Father had to do was put me back together. It was not unlike the use of a defibrillator to jumpstart someone's heart."
Tears started to form in Ruby's eyes. Penny was alive.
"Ruby? Are you alright?"
Ruby charged forward and embraced her friend. Joyful tears flowed from her Silver Eyes. "I-I-I saw you die!" she choked out.
Penny returned the embrace. "I am fine now, Ruby. Please don't cry. Have I somehow upset you? Was is something I said?"
Ruby shook her head. "I missed you...so much."
"I missed you too. Why are you so sad? Are you not happy to see me?"
Yang stepped in. "She's very happy to see you, Penny," she explained. "It's just that she's so happy she's crying."
"Really?"
Ruby lifted her head, face stained with tears. "Yes. I'm so happy you're alive!"
Ruby embraced Penny again. Yang then put her arms around the two. Weiss stepped forward and followed suit. Blake did the same.
Standing off to the side, Jaune Arc looked down at his weapon. It had been improved with the metal from what remained of Pyrrha's own weapon. It was all he had left of the woman who loved him, and he was too stupid to realize her feelings until it was too late. Jaune looked over to Penny with a sad smile on his face. He should be happy that Penny was alive. It was what Pyrrha would have wanted. Nevertheless, there was still a void in Jaune's heart. Looking at the revived robot only brought him pain.
Well, that was depressing. I really think Penny should've stayed dead, mostly because actual stakes and lasting consequences need to exist. CRWBY caved to fanservice and not only did they bring Penny back, but the scene that showed her return played out like a joke. It's pathetic, really.
