I DO NOT OWN FAIRY TALE, SAD DAY.

Chapter 1

Five Years Old

"You can hold my hand if you want too." Little Lucy whispered to Natsu as they sat on the School Bus. It is the first day of Kindergarten, Natsu Dragneel is the new boy in the neighborhood, and Lucy took it upon herself to show him around. Her hand was facing up, showing him her palm; he slowly placed his hand in hers. Lucy smiled, at their contact and squeezed his hand lightly. "Don't worry; everyone is going to love you."

Fourteen Years Old

"What is she, your girlfriend?" Gray teased Natsu endless about Lucy, his best friend. "Natsu and Lucy sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" Natsu shoved Gray, "stop that. She's my best friend and that's it." His tone was angry. Gray was so annoying sometimes. "Just friends? Nothing else." Gray clarified. Natsu raised an eyebrow, "why are you so interested?"

Gray crossed his arms, "because I want to ask her to the Freshman School dance this Friday. If what you say is true than it shouldn't be problem, right?"

Natsu frowned; Gray was not someone he wanted Lucy dating. She deserved the best, and Gray was not even close to that. Still, he did not plan to ask anyone to the dance, he figured Lucy would come with him regardless. He felt slightly jealous that Gray even considered Lucy, didn't everyone know by now that Lucy is his.

'Lucy is her own person, Natsu. Duh. She is not mine, why did I even think that. She is my best friend that is all. She can date whoever she wants.'

"Not a problem, ask her. But when she turns you down don't be surprised." Natsu challenged.

"We'll see."

Seventeen Years Old

"Has anyone asked you to Prom yet, Lu?" Levy was pulling dresses of the rack; Gajeel had asked her already, Lucy still had two weeks to find a date.

"Not yet." She frowned; Lisanna already took the person that she wanted most. Ever since the dance Freshman Year with Gray, Natsu pulled away little by little until their relationship was almost nonexistent. Lucy's feelings for the young man never wavered, now that he was dating Lisanna, it was difficult holding on to something that would never be.

Prom Night

"Do you want to dance Lucy?" Loke gently lead her to the dance floor, despite her refusal. Loke asked her, a week before the big day with roses and cute poster board. He made an effort; Lucy decided he deserved a chance. Loke made jokes as he spun her around the gym floor, Lucy finally gave in she fully leaned into Loke's innocent advances. A touch here, caress there Lucy decided that it was time to let Natsu go.

'ATTENTION SENIORS BUT IT IS TIME TO ANNOUNCE PROM KING AND QUEEN! DRUMROLL PLEASE!'

The student body gathered around, the muttering of who would be King and Queen filled the atmosphere. The entire female population was hanging by a thread while the guys didn't care much either way.

'LADIES FIRST! THIS YEARS QUEEN IS THE ONE AND ONLY MS. LUCY HEARTFILIA! COME ON UP HERE SWEETHEART.'

Speechless.

Loke guided her through the crowd of students until she was walking across the stage, she was handed a bouquet of red roses while a tiara was placed on her head.

'TIME FOR THE KING! ALL RIGHT, WHO'S GOING TO BE THE LUCKY FELLA?'

'Anyone but Nats-'

'NATSU DRAGNEEL!'

Despite all the cheering, Lucy didn't hear much after his name was announced. He walked across the stage with confidence; his crown was placed on that rosy head of his.

'YOUR KING AND QUEEN OF CLASS 2019! LET'S GIVE THEM A SPOTLIGHT DANCE.'

The crowd was cleared, as 'Yellow by Coldplay' played in the background. Natsu led her to the dance floor, "you don't have to do this." She was nervous.

"Why wouldn't we?" He frowned; she almost regretted speaking at all.

He placed his hands on her waist as she rested her hands on his shoulders, there was still some distance between them, and she figured it was because he would not want to get that close to her for Lisanna's sake. The swayed back forth, she refused to look Natsu in the eye, she looked everywhere but back at him.

"Lucy, seriously?" Her brown eyes found his, "you're too far away." He gripped her waist tighter, bringing her chest flushed against his.

The aaaw's in crowd did not go unnoticed.

Lucy blushed, he smelt nice and if she leaned any closer, her nose would just graze the side of his throat, she wrapped her arms around his neck. The song continued, as they swayed into their own world. If this is the last time, that she would be this close to him than she would make the most of it. Lucy rested her cheek on his chest, and closed her eyes she would soak up every warm feeling that Natsu was giving her.

Graduation Day

Graduation Caps thrown into the air, finally, she was a High School Graduate! Lucy and Levy hugged one another and congratulated their friends.

"Lucy! Babe!" Loki made his way through the crowd, Lucy waved at him. When he reached her, he placed a gentle kiss to her cheek. "Are you ready?" After Graduation, the group was supposed to attend a party, the last House Party for their Senior Year. She noticed Lisanna storm off from Natsu, leaving him standing there. It was not her business, but even if they grew apart, she would never fully abandon Natsu even if he did not want her in his life.

"In a second, get the car. Ok?" Lucy smiled at her boyfriend, "All right. I'll be outside."

Lucy approached Natsu, slowly, she tapped him on the shoulder and when he found her, she smiled at him.

"Hey Natsu, are you okay?"

He rubbed the back of his neck, "Kind of." He sighed.

"Is there anything I can do? I-"

Natsu cut her off. "No, there's not." Lucy frowned, "It's not-uh- I don't need your help Luce."

'Luce, at first she hated the term of endearment he gave her, now she wanted him to use it often. It bought back the memories of when they were children, when nothing else mattered.'

He ran a hand through his rosy hair and quickly walked away; Lucy should have just left with Loki.

Cana's House Party

Lucy was tipsy, scratch that, Lucy is drunk.

After Natsu left her there, alone, she might add she decided to nurse her wounded heart with Tequila and good ol' beer because that's what teenagers do. Cana's chants of 'chug chug chug' didn't help in Lucy's situation either, Loke couldn't 'handle' her every time he found her she slipped out of sight again. In all fairness, she was trying to avoid the man, she didn't want him to see like this. Lucy found herself sitting on the bathroom floor with a bag of chips and some fruity drink Cana made for her, she wasn't complaining.

"Aw- shit. I'm sorry." Natsu found her hiding spot. "Wait. Luce? What are you doing the floor?" He was looking at her like she was crazy.

"Uhh, not really sure." Lucy looked around, 'how long has it been?' "Chips?" She offered the bag to Natsu.

He smirked, "You're such a weirdo, but sure." He chuckled. She blushed, but she doubted he could tell her face was already red from all the alcohol coursing through her body. Natsu took a seat beside her, which surprised her he never willing seat next her unless he had no choice.

She cleared her throat, "Nat-"

"Luce-" She smiled sheepishly at him. "You go first." He told her.

Her eyes flickered toward the ground, she took a sip of her drink and licked her lips. "Cana sure knows her way around the bar." Lucy joked lightly. She felt his eyes burning into her, his stare was intense. Those light green eyes suddenly looked so dark, "Uh, Natsu?" She bit her bottom lip, his eyes stared at her mouth and back at her.

"Hm." His stare didn't waver, was it her imagination? Or the alcohol? Because Natsu looked like he wanted to devour her, that thought alone sent her body into overdrive. He's getting closer, he smells like smoke with a hint of cinnamon buried underneath.

Hands. Warm, rough hands burying themselves in her blonde hair.

A soft touch to the lips, Lucy's vision has gone slightly hazing. She didn't protest when he leans in again, this time more aggressive, her hands grip the front of shirt for dear life. When he sucked her bottom lip into his mouth, Lucy surrendered completely, the feel of his teeth running along her swollen lip caused her to release a breathy moan.

"Lucy, are you- Oh fuck."

The couple jumped apart, Cana was glaring back at them.

"Not that I'm not surprised this finally happened because lets get real, you guys have so much sexual tension built up! It's amazing you haven't died yet."

"Cana!" Lucy scolded her, the alcohol was present but she managed to sober up, if only for this moment. "Carry on." Cana gave them her blessing, "Oh, lock the door! You're such rookies." She rolled her eyes at her friends.

Once the door was closed, and locked thanks to Natsu he didn't return to his spot next to her.

"Natsu, about what-"

"Mistake. It was a mistake. I took advantage of you, I'm sorry, Luce."

'What?'

"Natsu, you didn't-" Lucy tried to argue with him but she forgot how stubborn Natsu could be. "Yes, I did. This was a mistake. Let's just forget it ever happened, for Lisanna and Loke's sake."

Defeat.

It's always going to be for the sake of Loke and Lisanna. Lucy was glad she would never have to see Natsu's face after tonight, she would be gone. Her friends took different paths than hers, she would be attending College alone. At first she was upset but now, now after this rejection she couldn't have been more pleased. She needed time, and if Natsu was around, she'd never fully be able to accept the fact that she's nothing more than a friend to him.

What do you think? I have a bunch of different ideas on where to go from here, and I will go into further detail about what happened between them. EVENTUALLY.

Till then, be safe and stay healthy!
