A lot of things have happened to me since I last uploaded a fanfiction. I always planned to return and put out more content but life just kept getting in the way.
Now that I'm in lockdown, there should be updates and new content more often.
Enjoy!

One day, just one day, Hiccup Haddock would like to come home to his apartment as clean as he had left it in the morning. And as much as he loved everything about his girlfriend, Astrid Hofferson, he would really appreciate it if she would leave her mess fairy at home.
Yes, Astrid had a mess fairy. Someone who left a little mess behind wherever Astrid had been. At least thats what Astrid said.
Hiccup didn't mind that Astrid left little reminders that she had been in his house. He loved the smell of her fruity shampoo on his pillow or the scent of her favourite perfume on the jacket that she always 'borrowed'. It brought a small smile to his face when he found Astrid left her bright blue 'lucky' socks next to the foot of his bed because she felt too warm at night. Hel, he didn't even mind finding Astrid's blonde hair all over his clothing, bed and and his own head!
Then there was the other kind of messes he found around the houses and when he asked Astrid about them, she told him that she was 'simply marking her territory.' No, she didn't pee over his floor like Toothless often did. No it was things like, tripping over Astrid's trainers in his lobby because she was too excited to see him to remember to put them away in the shoe rack. She would wait until the sink was COMPLETELY full before deciding to wash the dishes. If she needed cutlery that was in the half empty sink, then she would just use something else.
He was once caught her eating soup with a fork and eating chicken curry with a knife! She regretted that though, as she ended up cutting her tongue and needed stitches.
Anyway, back to the present day and Astrid's purple trainers were sprawled across his lobby and her bright yellow jacket was thrown onto the stairs. He huffed a little and picked up her things and placed them in their designated places before removing his own. He peeked into his kitchen to see a carrier bag and several items across the floor.
That was it. He was going to Astrid a piece of his mind. Or at least try to. He had a miserable day at work and the mess in his apartment had finally driven him over the edge.
"Astrid! Are you in the living room? Can you please explain the mes- Woah."
Hiccup walked into the view of his girlfriend pouring some sort of chemicals into what looked like a paper-mache volcano. Said girlfriend had orange, grey and red all over her fingers and some on her face. Her hair had fallen out of her signature braid and was sticking up at odd angles.
Regardless, she looked heavenly to Hiccup. But the living room looked like someone had thrown a bomb full of bright paint, glue and paper.
Astrid heard him come in and turned to look at him from her place on the floor. She gave him his favourite heart-warming smile.
"Hey, babe! How was work?"
But Hiccup didn't even register her question properly. He was too busy staring in awe at the volcano.
"Uh, fine. Did you make that? How? When? Why?" He questioned while raising a finger toward her creation.
Astrid followed his finger, "I made it a few hours ago while you were at work. Pretty cool, huh? I grabbed some supplies from the craft store next to the supermarket. And I'm making it because, my geography project is due in next week and I've finished it, but I wanted to do something extra to guarantee a good grade. You know how my geography teacher is towards me."
Hiccup knew exactly what she was referring to. Astrid was a hard worker, especially in her geography class. She always had the highest marks and never failed to complete anything on time. However, that didn't stop her geography teacher from being constantly cold and moody towards Astrid.
Astrid finished answering his questions, lowered her gaze to the floor and her smile turned to a frown. She quietly whispered, "This isn't going to work, is it? I'm just wasting my time."
This snapped Hiccup out of his trance and he instantly forgot all about his frustration over the mess everywhere. His heart was breaking at Astrid's lower lip quivering and he was sure her eyes were beginning to fill with tears.
Hiccup instantly joined Astrid on the floor and cupped her left cheek gentley, "No you're not. I will help you, Milady. Tell me what you would like me to do."
Astrid just blinked up at him, "But you'll get your work clothes all dirty. Change first."
He waved off her concern, "Nah, I'll be fine. Now come on, what is there left to do?"
Astrid flashed a grin at her boyfriend's enthuasium.
"Ok, if you film the volcanic eruption after I add the mixture..."

Together, Astrid and Hiccup spent what was left of the afternoon, creating and filming a volcanic eruption. Once they were done, they both collapsed onto the sofa.
Astrid pushed Hiccup's auburn fringe out of his eyes and kissed his cheek.
"Thank you so much, babe. If it wasn't for you, I would have given up. And I am very sorry for messing up your apartment. I do it all the time and you always clean up after me. I'm really grateful for it. Once I'm excited about something, it's very hard for me to slow down but I promise to calm down from now on."
As soon as she finished speaking, Hiccup eyed her weirdly. Astrid had never changed herself for anyone and he didn't want to be the first.
He continued studying her before wrapping his arms around her tightly and tucking her into his chest. He kissed Astrid's forehead and rested his chin gentley over her head.
"No, please don't change Milady. I love you just the way you are and I especially love your endless energy. And luckily for you, I love you enough to put up with your little mess fairy. But maybe, just make sure she at least puts your shoes away, I'm clumsy enough as it is."
She giggled and settled into her boyfriend's loving arms and giggled when Hiccup kept rubbing his nose against her own. One of his favourite thing to do.
There was a comfortable silence for a while until Hiccup spoke again.
"Hey, Astrid?"
"Mmm?"
"Where did you get the idea to create the volcano?"
Astrid peeked her head out of Hiccup's arms to answer him.
"When I came round to your house, I noticed Toothless had ripped your favourite pillow so, I went to the supermarket to buy you another one. I saw a children's 'make your own volcano' kit and that's what gave me the idea really."
"Why not just buy that to save a lot of time and effort?"
Astrid shrugged her shoulders slightly, "It would feel wrong, passing that off as my own work. And you know me, I never take the easy option out."
That statement caused Hiccup to chuckle. See, hard worker.
"Well thank you for getting me a new pill- Wait a minute!" Hiccup never finished his sentence because he launched himself off the sofa, nearly knocking Astrid off it in the process.
"TOOTHLESS! Get down here you little bum! That's the secon- no third pillow you've ruined this week! And you've knocked over two of my best mugs! Not to mention peeing all over my computer chair! And..."
Hiccup continued listing, well more like yelling, how he had been wronged multiple times by his three-legged cat this week. All the while, Astrid giggled uncontrollably on the sofa.
"I'm going to take it out of your pocket money! That'll teach you! This happens 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days in a year! 366 in a leap year! And-"
Hiccup had finally noticed his girlfriend's eyes full of tears of laughter and red face from laughing too much at his ranting.
He raised one eyebrow at her, "Why are you enjoying this so much?"
"Because," Astrid began, trying to keep in her laughter, "looks like I'm not the only one with a mess fairy!"
She received a glare in return from her boyfriend.
