Dark Bond

Prologue

"Light is easy to love. Show me your darkness."

~ R. Queen

Snow poured down the city far from the forest as a small girl, around the age of 8 or 9, was walking through the empty parts of the woods. She had been on the run for almost 6 days, with only a fever in her dirty clothes. The only thing to warm her up a bit was a big, black hoodie. It only reached to above her knees, but it was only worth it to her.

She sniffles as she shivered every time she took a step. She needed to find shelter. She needs to get out of the weather. The snow kept on pouring and pouring as it fell to the ground, becoming a bit more thicker, and thicker. The girl felt like she was about to collapse, ready to give up. Give in to death and descend to heaven. But then, catching a glimpse up front, she can see a house, more than 20 feet away, came to her sight.

It was a large one, possibly about four stories tall, looking like it was abandoned for almost 15 years. She didn't hesitate as she made a run for the doors. As she got there, she frowned in disappointment as she saw a lock and chains connected to the door knobs. She looked to both her sides and spotted a broken window, as if it was already shattered. She took off her hoodie, revealing a dirty white shirt, and placed it on top of the bottom window sill. She shivered even more as the harsh wind blew once more, weakening her.

She hated the cold, along with winter. It was one of the painful memories that reminded of how her parents abandoned her, all alone in the open. She hated them. They didn't even name her. She got in, slumping down below and quickly putting on her hoodie. She then covered the window with its musty old velvet curtains, wind pushing in a bit, as the curtains were heavy. Thank god she was inside. If it weren't for that window, she wouldn't be here.

She looked around, seeing old relics from the past and vintage furniture that was covered up in sheets. She wandered for about a good 30 minutes, and luckily, she found a warm blanket to cover herself up. She then stumbled to the door leading to the basement. It was only dark enough for someone to see barely. She walked through the dark corridors and stumbled upon another door. It was a wooden door with some rusty parts of it. She tried to open it, but to no avail.

She had almost given up and head back upstairs, but stopped to only hear the sound of disoriented buzzing. She looked all over, trying to get closer to its source, but she couldn't. It was everywhere.

Then suddenly, the door opened to reveal more darkness. With curiosity getting the best of her, she walked in.

In the room, there was a set of stairs, made of stone and connected to the wall. Everything was made of stone. Even the box in the center of the room. It had the engraving picture of a scorpion with words, covered in moss, as if it was here for almost two decades. She walked her way downstairs in the room and walked her way towards that box. She had the warm feeling of that box, giving her comfort. It grew and grew as she got closer and closer.

At last, she touched its cold surface and all went black.

Her vision was dark, her hearing was hazy. She could barely catch a glimpse of a bright burning light. In just a few seconds later, the box opened, revealing someone emerging out of it, and rushing to her aid. What was happening? Who was it?

"Angela? Angela! Oh my god… It's okay. Just stay with me! Papas here now… Papas here…"

Her papa? Here? Angela?

Yes. Yes, I knew that name somewhere. I only knew it ever since.

Angela… That's me.

"Morning papa! How are you today?"

"Hmmm… I'm feeling good today sweetheart. What about you? How's my little fire princess?"

"I'm great! Today is going to be a great day!"

"Oh really? *chuckles* I wonder why?"

"You have to guess!"

"Hm, let me think… is it...Your birthday today?"

"Yep! You got it right! We're gonna have so much fun!"

" *laughs* I think we are. We only need to get ready."

"What about dusty? They're gonna be here, right?"

"Of course! They're already setting up the party at our special place."

" *giggles* we're gonna have a blast!"

"I bet we are! I already got the perfect gift for you! But I'm not gonna tell until present time."

"Oh papa, I know you'll always get me the best present ever!"

"Uh-huh. Oh I love you when you smile. That's how you make me smile."

"Mm-hmm. I love you, papa."

"I love you too, Angela."
