This poem is a "response" poem to Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost. I dedicate it to Ponyboy in The Outsiders novel, after the traumatising events that ensue when Johnny kills a Soc in self-defense. Hopefully, it could help boost your morale when you are feeling down, too. Because, even if nothing lasts forever, we can make the best out of it.
Something Good in Every Day
Some days, if you feel that you are losing confidence,
Never doubt our precious lives' prominence.
Through our turmoils and through storms,
Soon you'll realise gold takes many forms.
Don't you have your eyes to see
Natures' diverse potpourri?
Haven't you already heard
Creation's chorus softly blown words?
We ourselves are wonderfully made,
Even though, like a masterpiece, our colours slowly fade.
All know nothing can last forever,
Yet your heart knows it's for the better.
With grief, pain and anger of times before,
We appreciate joy and love even more,
So, hunt for every good thing in everything
Like a snake does to its prey it wants to wring.
However tedious this game can become,
You will be able to handle difficulty when it comes.
Every day may not be good,
Things might not turn out as they should,
But soon all anxiety, sadness and fear will go away
When you remember there is something good in every day.
