Erza Scarlet's team often relied on her, to be the responsible, heroic, determined, and brave leader. This was a task, that Erza claimed to be ready for and she often lived up to her reputation, to by being the best leader and strongest warrior, that the guild had ever laid eyes on. Erza was usually focused and felt like she had everything under control. However, there was one person, who knew how to make Erza become shy and a little condident, named Jellal. Jellal was a former villain, who Erza was friends with, during her childhood years. During the time Erza and Jellal were on opposites sides of the law, their feelings for one another weren't hard, to figure out. Despite their differences, they had a crush on each other and after Jellal stopped being evil and joined the guild, Erza's feelings for him were more clear and easy to spot, than ever before.

Erza Scarlet had finished another mission, along with her teammates. She started heading back to her house, so she could put away her weapons. While she was walking home, she started getting the feeling, that she was being followed. Erza was a very brave and intimidating woman, so she was more than prepared, if somebody was coming after her. She started sniffing a familiar smell. She got out her sword and said, "You better watch out!"

Erza turned around and realized Jellal Fernandes was the one, who had been following her. Erza put down the sword and smiled, while saying, "Hi, Jellal. It's good to see you."

Jellal wiped off some sweat, which came from the fear, of having Erza point a sword at him. As tough as he was, he knew he'd never beat Erza, if the two of them got into a battle. He pointed to a bouquet of flowers, that were in his hands, and said, "Hi, Erza. I wanted to give you these."

Erza examined the flowers and noticed they were all red. She said, "So, they're all roses?"

Jellal replied, "Yes they are. If you don't like roses, I can get you something else."

Erza responded, "No, I love roses." She grabbed the flowers and started smelling them. She said, "Ah, that was the familiar smell, that my nose was smelling."

Jellal looked a bit smug, while asking, "Are you sure, that you weren't sniffing the familiar and eloquent smell, of Jellal Fernandes?"

Erza grabbed Jellal and started sniffing him, like the way a dog would smell another dog. Jellal felt awkward and uncomfortable, while Erza smelled him. Nervous sweat came down his forehead. She said, "With all due respect, you smell like sweat."

Hearing that made Jellal continue sweating. He felt ashamed of himself, for being so cowardly. He was much more self-confident, during his time as an antagonistic thief. However, he knew his life was better and more rewarding, as a good guy. He looked at Erza and said, "Uh, I'm sorry I smell sweaty."

Erza replied, "You've been working out, haven't you?"

Jellal thought he could keep his dignity, by claiming the reason, that he smelt sweaty, was because he had been exercising. He put his hands on his hips, while saying, "Yeah, I've been doing lots of exercise, in the past couple of weeks. During the time I was a criminal, I was lazy and sloppy. Now, I'm a hard working and super sharp guy."

Erza replied, "I admire people, who put so much effort, into exercising and working hard. It's important and useful, for when we have to battle the villains."

Jellal admired Erza's appearance, but he tried to make it sound like he was complimenting her energy and passion, rather than her looks. He said, "I admire the beauty, that comes from your hardworking lifestyle." He paused and said, "I'm probably wording myself awkwardly, aren't I?"

Erza replied, "I'm not the type of person, who cares about eloquent forms of speech. There's much more meaningful ways, to express my feelings. Let me give you an example." Erza grabbed Jellal and started kissing him. She asked, "What do you think?"

Jellal answered, "Um, nice lips."

Erza said, "I was trying to ask you, if you could understand my feelings, from the kiss."

Jellal replied, "Well, the kiss gave me an impression, that you're happy and you like me."

Erza nudged Jellal and asked, "You think I like you? I think I've made it obvious, that I love you."

Jellal replied, "Right, you've gotten that message across and I can assure you, that I love you."

Erza responded, "Yes, you've made that clear."

Jellal said, "Well, it's sometimes a good thing, to let others know your feelings, even if they can already tell."

Erza replied, "Not a bad sentiment." She hugged Jellal. Afterwards, she started holding his hand, while saying, "Come with me."

Jellal asked, "Where are we going?"

Erza answered, "To my house. I love almost everything about you, but when I say that, I'm not counting the way you smell."

After Erza and Jellal were at Erza's house, Erza said, "Go into my bathroom and take a shower."

Jellal replied, "You know, that's something I could do, at my own house."

Erza responded, "Considering how you smell, you must have a bad bathtub or mediocre shampoo."

Jellal replied, "Hey."

Erza said, "Go get clean, young man."

Jellal asked, "Aren't I older than you?"

Erza smirked and said, "Who said I wasn't young? Stop chatting around and get clean." Jellal nodded.

A few minutes later, Lucy Heartfilia walked to Erza's house and knocked on the door. Erza opened the door, while looking like she had a lot on her mind. She tried to appear casual, while saying, "Hi, Lucy. What's going on?"

Lucy replied, "We were all planning, on going to the guild and getting some drinks, to celebrate our latest victory. You said you'd put your weapons away and come, don't you remember?"

Erza had been distracted, due to hanging around Jellal, so she said, "I'm sorry, Lucy. You see, something came up, which distracted me."

Lucy replied, "It's no big deal." She heard the sound, of running water, so she asked, "Were you going to take a shower?"

Erza said, "No, Jellal is."

Lucy smirked and replied, "Oh, the love of your life got you sidetracked."

Erza looked ashamed, while responding, "I'm afraid so."

Lucy put her hand on Erza's shoulder and replied, "There's no reason, for you to be ashamed. It's great, that you've fallen in love. You know, you don't have to go to the victory place. Personally, I think you'd be happier, to be with Jellal."

Erza looked shy and bit embarrassed, which were emotions she rarely expressed. She said, "Thank you, Lucy."

Lucy politely asked, "Is there anything I can get you?"

Erza said, "Well, I suppose Jellal will need a new outfit, after he finishes showering."

Lucy replied, "I can have Natsu and Gray deliver him one of the spare outfits, from the guild."

Erza responded, "Thank you."

Lucy jokingly said, "However, you'd probably rather see him in a wedding tuxedo, wouldn't you?"

Erza sounded sincere, while answering, "Yeah."

Lucy looked at Erza, who was blushing. Lucy had never recalled Erza blushing, to such a big extent. She said, "Wow, you're being serious, aren't you?"

Erza replied, "Let's keep this a secret, okay? Yes, I want to marry Jellal."

As Jellal was putting on a bathrobe, he heard Erza admitting her desire, to marry him. However, he misheard her. He thought Erza said she wants to bury him. He looked frightened and started sweating, while whispering, "She wants to bury me?"

Erza said, "I don't want to do it, at this moment. I want to wait, until the right moment comes around."

Jellal said, "I can hardly believe, that Erza's mind moves so fast, that she's already thinking about burying me. Maybe I did something, that upset her. I've heard rumors, about her stabbing creatures, with her sword. What if she starts doing that kind of stuff, to humans? I love her, but if I'm not letting that scary woman bury me."

Suddenly, Natsu Dragneel and Gray Fullbuster started knocking on the bathroom door. Jellal said, "You can come in."

Natsu and Gray walked inside. Natsu started breathing sighs of relief, so Jellal asked, "Why are you doing that?"

Natsu said, "I was worried, that you wouldn't be wearing a bathrobe. If that were the case, I would of puked on Gray."

Gray started breathing sighs of relief, while saying, "Thank goodness, that I didn't get puked on."

Jellal looked uneasy and frightened, while saying, "I need your help. I think Erza wants to kill me."

Gray asked, "Did you guys get into a fight or something?"

Jellal grabbed Natsu and Gray, while saying, "I'm having a real dilemma. I overheard Erza gushing, about the thought of burying me. She claims she's not ready, but I'm afraid she wants to get rid of me, in the near future."

Natsu said, "Dude, we're going to help you. First off, we got you a change of clothes." Natsu handed Jellal a ninja outfit.

Jellal asked, "Am I supposed to become a samurai or something?"

Gray explained, "For some reason, Makarov had a bunch of ninja outfits. Maybe he used to teach karate or something."

Jellal put on the ninja outfit and said, "I look nice, but I'm afraid this'll be the last outfit, that I ever wear, if Erza comes after me."

Natsu looked at Gray and said, "We have to save this guy, from getting buried."

Gray asked, "How are we supposed to do that?"

Natsu brainstormed, for a few minutes, before an idea popped in his head. He said, "Let's bury him."

Jellal looked stressed-out, while asking, "You want to bury me, in order to make sure I don't get buried?! That doesn't make any sense."

Natsu shook his hand around, while replying, "Don't worry, dude. You see, Gray and I can bury you and lie to Erza, that you died. After she realizes how lonely and sad she'll be, if you're not around, she won't want to bury you."

Jellal asked, "What if she gets excited, about me getting buried?"

Natsu replied, "Then we'll dig you out and help you move to a new country."

Jellal responded, "Very well then."

Gray said, "Hold on, guys. Doesn't this idea seem insane?"

Natsu replied, "Considering how psychotic Erza's become, it's our best option."

Natsu and Gray took Jellal, to a nearby field of grass and started digging a hole, that we could bury him in. While they were digging, Juvia Lockser walked by and asked, "What are you guys doing?"

Natsu explained, "We're going to bury Jellal."

Juvia looked at Jellal, before saying, "But he's alive."

Natsu explained, "We're going to trick Erza, into thinking Jellal died, in order to save Jellal's life." Juvia walked away, while looking baffled.

Gray looked at Jellal and asked, "Are you sure, that we shouldn't cancel this plan?"

Jellal responded, "Believe me, this plan scares me and I know it's going to be uncomfortable. I'm going to have to be underground, for several minutes, while you guys lie to the love of my life, about me dying. However, this plan has to be done, in order to save my life."

Gray asked, "Can't you and Erza just talk about this?"

Jellal said, "If she finds out, that I know she wants to bury me, she'll probably start using her sword, as if it were a shovel."

After Natsu and Gray finished digging the hole, Jellal went into it. Natsu and Gray started dumping dirt on him. Gray was very reluctant and felt uneasy, about the plan. However, Natsu was confident, that the plan was a good idea.

Several minutes later, Erza walked by and greeted Natsu and Gray. She asked, "What did you guys bury?"

Natsu tried to look dramatic, while saying, "We buried Jellal."

Erza looked uneasy, while asking, "What are you talking about?"

Natsu explained, "Jellal was about to die. We saw him. The last thing, that he requested was to be buried, quickly, in order to spare the pain, from his loved ones."

Erza looked sad, while asking, "Jellal died?" Natsu nodded. Erza was usually a very serious, stern person. However, her sentimental emotions started pouring out. Tears came down her eyes. Nobody had ever seen Erza cry harder.

Even while underground, Jellal could hear Erza crying and he couldn't stand the guilt, of putting Erza through such pain and drama. He started climbing out of the hole.

Erza looked confused and shocked, to see Jellal coming out of the hole. She asked, "What's going on?"

Natsu tried to look sincere, while saying, "Jellal turned into a zombie." He nudged Jellal and whispered, "Start doing zombie noises, so she'll believe us."

Jellal shook his head and said, "Erza, I'm sorry, that I pretended to die. However, I couldn't let you stab me and bury me."

Erza had a confused look on her face, while asking, "What are you talking about?"

Jellal replied, "I overheard you saying, that you wanna bury me."

Erza explained, "I was saying I wanted to marry you, not bury me."

Natsu had an amused look on his face, while asking, "Erza wants to get married?"

Erza gave Natsu and Gray a disapproving look, while saying, "Get out of here." Natsu and Gray ran away.

Jellal looked ashamed and embarrassed, while saying, "I'm sorry, for being so dumb. You intimidate people, to such a strong degree, that I thought you might want to seek vengeance on me."

Erza responded, "If that's what you thought, there's a great lack of communication, between the two of us."

Jellal said, "Words can be stronger than actions, sometimes."

Erza replied, "I know I can be scary and fierce, but I act that way, to scare the bad guys. I have no desire, to bury you or hurt you."

Jellal responded, "I'm sorry, Erza. If I trusted you, this wouldn't of happen."

Erza said, "So, do you trust me?"

Jellal replied, "Considering the choices I made, earlier today, I think you're the more trustworthy one. You're also a better person, than I could ever hope to be. I love you."

Erza smiled and responded, "I love you, too." Erza and Jellal kissed each other.

After the kiss was over, Jellal said, "If you do want to get married, that's something we can discuss."

Erza tried to avoid blushing, while replying, "Like I said, I want to wait. This isn't the right time, but I have a feeling, that the right time will eventually come."

Jellal replied, "When the right time comes, I'll be awfully excited."

Erza responded, "Me too. For now, I just want to have another date, with you. Are you coming?"

Jellal replied, "Of course I am. There's nowhere I'd rather be, than with you."

Erza eyed some wedding rings, that were displayed in a jewelry store. She felt happy, while thinking about the future, that she knew she and Jellal will have.
