It's 4am and my brain decided to do this.

The three times Scottie knew Harvey was in love with Donna and the one time she knew Donna loved him back.

Life in A Glass House

I.

She'd been back at the firm for three days when she realized something was off with Harvey. He was different lately. Lighter.

She wanted to believe it was on her and whatever this relationship they were attempting to have meant to him. But she knew better.

The sudden lightness in his steps, the ease in the tension of his shoulders, she only noticed it after he left Donna's desk.

He and the redhead had always been close. Ever since he moved to Manhattan, Donna was all he talked about when he told work related stories. And it never occurred to her that the woman he spent countless hours going on about might be more than a colleague.

That is until she began working within the four walls of Pearson Specter and she realized Harvey Specter was Harvey Specter because of Donna Paulsen.

He was lighter near her, he smiled more when she was there. It was unnerving, how codependent he was on a woman who sat four feet from his desk and he didn't seem to have a clue.

Three days at the firm was all it took for her to realize there was more than meets the eye when it came to Harvey and Donna's relationship.

Three days of watching him stop by her desk, laugh at something she said and she knew, a piece of his heart belonged to his secretary.

II.

The second time his feelings for Donna are in question, she knows he's in love with her.

It all happens quickly, but the thought hits her like a ton of bricks and she's certain, he loves her. She should have been surprised when he finally tells her about Mike. When he finally finds it in him to be honest with her.

But the thought that strikes her the hardest is that Donna already knew. Of course, Donna already knew. She was the man's moral compass whether she knew it or not and Harvey would never consider keeping something like this from her.

And that's when it hits her. That her former college lover has only ever let a few people in. He had a knack for putting up walls; she should know, she spent years trying to tear them down, but with Donna, he was a different man.

If she hadn't been in on the Mike thing from the beginning, she's certain he was the one that told her about it because Donna Paulsen was on the inside. She didn't have to work to tear down Harvey's walls the way she did; she had a key.

And if she wasn't aware of how Harvey felt about her it was only because he himself wasn't aware.

Sitting there at her desk, listening as Harvey apologizes, hearing the truth about Mike Ross, the first thought that crosses her mind is that the man standing before her has no idea how in love with his secretary he was. The second was that she never liked Mike Ross.

III.

The third time it happens, it's a confirmation of what she's known for years.

Harvey Specter was in love with Donna Paulsen.

And he and Donna were the only two people on the entire planet that didn't realize it.

It floors her slightly, when she asks why he never called her and he begins by asking if she wants the truth. For a moment, she thinks maybe he really has grown, changed. But then he begins to tell her about how he began seeing his therapist and he has a look in his eyes that tell her all she needs to know.

His eyes seem haunted, empty. His voice softens as he tells his story and she can tell he knows it was a mistake. That he was chasing after nothing's while running from his own feelings.

She can't help herself from asking if things were complicated because of Donna and the shifting of his eyes while he tries to keep his composure tell her everything she already knows. And what she suspects he finally knows.

For Harvey, relationships would always be complicated because his heart was taken.

She wishes him luck before he leaves and she knows he'll need it. If he was going to find the courage to tell her how he felt after all this time, he would most certainly need it.

IV.

She hated that she couldn't fix things for herself, but after all she's seen over the years, she knew going to Donna was her best bet if she wanted help.

After some persuading, the cards crumbled in her favour and in the end she was grateful that Donna still held a key to Harvey's heart.

She swore the two of them would have sorted themselves out by now, but there was something comforting in seeing that the relationship between the pair hadn't strayed from what it had once been. They were still at one another's beck and call, even if they were too stubborn to admit it.

She knew Donna reciprocated Harvey's feelings years ago when she confronted her about it in the file room. But she wasn't sure what happened in the years that followed.

After tonight, she was certain that the redhead loved Harvey in the same way he loved her. Her hesitation on the phone told her as much. She wasn't fishing for information, she was simply wishing Donna well and planting a seed. Telling her she hoped he would see it one day when the smallest sound, Donna's breath hitching makes her realize, Donna hoped so too.

It was that moment she realized Donna Paulsen was just as in love with Harvey Specter as Harvey was in love with her. It was that moment she picked up the phone to call and thank Harvey, and perhaps it was time to suggest he act on the feelings he'd never been good at hiding.
