DEREK (narration): Psychics. People with special marks on their right eye that give them special power. Now, I know what you're thinking. Why am I telling you this? Good question. I am one. I know it might seem like a simple thing to say, but it is a lot more than that. Way, way more.
In the base, Derek is talking to Sylvia.
DEREK: So let me get this straight. You might have some kind of power as well, and it may be caused by a special orb called the Nexus?
SYLVIA: Yup!
DEREK: That's... hard to believe.
SYLVIA: I agree with you there. It may not even be a power.
DEREK: Well, what could it be then?
SYLVIA: That's what I'm still trying to figure out.
Cori flies into the room.
CORI: Hey guys!
DEREK: Hey, Cori.
CORI: I found this key on the floor, and it has a picture of a lock on it-
Sylvia takes the key from Cori.
SYLVIA: Woah! Where did you get that?!
CORI: It was on the floor!
SYLVIA: Ahem... you, uh... weren't supposed to have this...
Sylvia heads to her room.
DEREK: She has been awfully suspicious today.
CORI: No kidding! What would have that key have done?
DEREK: I don't know. Must be to a secret room or something.
Fenton overhears them.
FENTON: Secret room, you say?
Derek and Cori notice Fenton.
DEREK: Wait, you know where a secret room is?
FENTON: Yes, I believe so.
CORI: Show us, then!
FENTON: I can't right now.
CORI: Why?
FENTON: It's hidden in Sylvia's room. We have to wait a little later.
DEREK: Uh... uh...
FENTON: You good?
DEREK: Sure!
Derek leaves the room.
CORI: Something is up with him.
FENTON: I know, right?
A little later, Fenton gathers Cori and Derek.
FENTON: You guys ready?
CORI: Yeah!
DEREK: Mm-hmm.
FENTON: Alright! Go team!
The 3 sneak into Sylvia's room and Fenton points out the large safe.
FENTON: Guys, that's our target. It's the same size as the door, so I know for a fact a room is in there.
DEREK: Where did she set the key?
Fenton pulls out the key.
FENTON: I have my ways!
CORI: I saw him. When Sylvia left the room, he went back in and stole back the key.
DEREK: Sneaky.
Fenton tries to reach the key hole, but his arms are too short to reach it.
FENTON: Stupid short arms...
Derek takes the key.
DEREK: Allow me.
Derek opens the safe and inside is a small pocket on top with a smaller box and an envelope, and a large empty space on the bottom.
FENTON: Huh. That's odd.
CORI: Y'know, I have a strong urge to see what's in the box and the envelope. Derek, you and me will see what these things really are, and Fenton, you'll figure out a way to prove that safe is REALLY a secret door because I really don't believe you right now.
FENTON: Alright, you two. Go ahead!
Cori opens the small box.
CORI: Woah!
Inside the box is a necklace that looks like the Nexus.
CORI: A Nexus necklace...
DEREK: What could this envelope be?
CORI: Open it and find out.
Derek opens the envelope and inside is a small photo. He turns bright red and quickly closes the envelope and throws it back into the safe.
CORI: What was it?
DEREK: ...
CORI: Derek?
DEREK: You don't need to know!
FENTON: I think I got something, guys!
The two head over to Fenton.
FENTON: Look, I can push this in!
Fenton pushes the back of the safe in.
FENTON: The room!
DEREK: Well, let's go in.
The 3 head into the room and in it is a large glass case with a single, yellow, floating orb with 2 smaller orange ones spinning inside of it.
CORI: This must be the Nexus.
Derek touches the glass.
DEREK: Just like how she described it.
Fenton notices a sign by it.
FENTON: Huh? A sign?
Cori flies down and inspects it.
CORI: "Nexus - Can rarely give effects, good or bad, depending on SYLVIA's emotions."
DEREK: So she is rarely affected by this thing depending on her emotions? That's kind of unusual.
FENTON: Maybe that's why she has been acting suspicious recently, because she is dealing with this!
CORI: It's all coming together now...
DEREK: Yup. Alright, let's get out of here!
The 3 sneak out of the room, meaning that the mission is succesful.
The next day, Sylvia is having more noticeable indignation than ever before.
DEREK: You good, Sylvia?
SYLVIA: No, I'm not!
DEREK: Why?
SYLVIA: Well, someone snuck into my room yesterday, and I suspect it might have been Fenton.
FENTON: *WHEEZE* M-me?
SYLVIA: Yes, you. I noticed paw prints on my safe.
Cori flies into the room.
CORI: Sup.
SYLVIA: Were you a part of whatever Fenton was up to?
FENTON: Yes.
CORI: No.
SYLVIA: I REALLY hope no one saw the envelope in the top pocket!
Derek intensely blushes, and Sylvia doesn't notice.
FENTON: What is it?
DEREK AND SYLVIA: You don't need to kno-
The two look at each other.
SYLVIA: Heeeeeey. Were YOU also a part of this?!
DEREK: Uh...
SYLVIA: UGH! I can't believe you all! You snuck into the safe room as well?!
FENTON: Okay, fine! Yes.
SYLVIA: You weren't supposed to know where the Nexus was! I'm stuck with it because if I feel strong emotion, something bad could happen.
CORI: So the necklace in the box was a model of it. Duly noted!
SYLVIA: WHYYYYYYYYYYYY! I THOUGHT I COULD TRUST YOU ALL!
From the safe room, a large crack noise was heard and the sound of pieces hitting the ground. Sylvia extends her arms out and the pieces burst out of her room and circle around her. The pieces merge into her and she starts glowing white.
DEREK: What is happening?!
FENTON: I don't know! I think something bad is gonna happen, like she said.
The glow fills the whole room and after a minute of complete silence, Derek, Cori, and Fenton wake up in a room with a door with a window on it in a 16:9 aspect ratio.
DEREK: Uuugghhh. Where... are we?
CORI: It looks like a small room with a single door. Classic horror trope.
FENTON: You have a problem with that.
DEREK: Wait a second, guys. I remember this place. A year back, I woke up in this same exact room. Sylvia was a villain at that time, and she put me in here. I went out and had my battle with her.
FENTON: If that's the case, then-
?: Oh, good! You're finally awake.
The group sees a top-hatted figure in the window.
DEREK: Sylvia...
SYLVIA: I set you and the others in here for a reason, but I won't tell you. So when you are ready, step out and follow down the hallway.
Sylvia leaves.
FENTON: We gotta go!
CORI: I think a battle is gonna happen.
Derek looks around and sees a sword on the ground. He walks to it and picks it up.
DEREK: Perfect. Alright guys. Let's get out of here!
Cori opens the door and looks down the hallway. There is a large, open room at the end of it.
CORI: This way.
FENTON: I don't like this place...
DEREK: Yeah, yeah. We can leave after we make her remember who she was.
CORI: What do you mean?
DEREK: Well, she forgot who she really was, so if we make her stop being a villain, she can go back to normal!
FENTON: Good idea!
DEREK: Here's the thing, though. I can only be the one to make her remember. I have to do one thing from my past that made her stop being a villain.
CORI: I see. At least we can help with the fight. Right?
DEREK: Of course!
CORI: Oh. Cool.
FENTON: What are we waiting for? Let's gooooooooooooooooooo!
Fenton rushes out of the room and stops at the end of the room. Derek and Cori follow behind him.
SYLVIA: I hope that you're ready...
The 3 look up and see a silhouette of Sylvia on top of a large stand obscured by darkness.
SYLVIA: ...because the show is about to begin!
Lights come on over a logo of the Nexus, and a spotlight over Sylvia. Sylvia hops down from the stand and the fight begins. Sylvia launches the pieces of the Nexus at Derek, but he knocks them back with the sword. Cori attempts a sneak attack on Sylvia, but no effect on her happens. Fenton tries a tail whip, but his tail is too fluffy to do anything. Sylvia just knocks him back with ease.
SYLVIA: This is going well so far!
DEREK: Ggggghhh... WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE THIS WAY?! You were perfectly fine before we discovered where the Nexus was!
SYLVIA: It's not my fault that I'm this way! I had a bad past and in the end of it, I was forced to be a villain! WHY CAN'T YOU JUST UNDERSTAND THAT?!
Sylvia tears up and heads up a flight of stairs.
DEREK: SYLVIA!
Derek rushes up the stairs as well. Cori and Fenton just look at each other.
CORI: What do we do now?
FENTON: We sneak up the stairs and spy on them. It's as easy as that!
CORI: I will take upon your offer, dear friend.
FENTON: I'm a fox. Not a deer.
CORI: Come on! Let's just go up there.
Derek make it to the top and sees Sylvia sitting by the edge.
DEREK: Sylvia?
SYLVIA: Just go...
Derek goes and sits down next to Sylvia.
DEREK: Your past was really that bad?
SYLVIA: *sigh* Yes, it was. I was trapped in this lab when I was a bit younger. They were planning to give me some kind of special power, but I didn't believe the things they were saying.
DEREK: That seems a little suspicious.
SYLVIA: Yeah, and the I couldn't take it so I broke out when no one was looking and eventually found my way here.
DEREK: Wow. I never knew.
SYLVIA: Yeah. I'm feeling a little better now that I told someone.
The two then notice that their hands are holding. They both blush and slowly move their hands back and look at each other.
SYLVIA: Uuuhhh... Uuuhhh...
DEREK: I-I-I-
Sylvia stops Derek before he says anything else.
SYLVIA: There's, um, something I need to tell you!
DEREK: There's something I need to tell you, too!
DEREK AND SYLVIA: I LIKE YOU!
The two look at each other and smile.
SYLVIA: I see that you feel the same way.
DEREK: Yup!
The two then kiss.
DEREK: Wow.
SYLVIA: I know!
The two then head down to Cori and Fenton.
CORI: How did it go?
DEREK: It went great!
FENTON: I can finally say "I ship it" again!
SYLVIA: Oh naw. Don't start that.
FENTON: I ship it-
Derek flips Fenton over onto his back.
FENTON: No, my weakness...
SYLVIA: Are you sure that'll keep him from moving?
DEREK: Yeah, his arms are too short, so he's basically stuck like that.
SYLVIA: Ah, I see.
FENTON: Help me out here, Cori!
DEREK: Alright then. Cori, flip him over.
CORI: On it!
Cori picks up Fenton and puts him back on his feet.
DEREK: Let's go, guys.
CORI: Wait, we can't!
FENTON: Why not?
CORI: We have to get Sylvia back to normal; if we do that, we can go back.
DEREK: Shoot, you're right. Sylvia, do you still have those pieces with you?
SYLVIA: Yes, I do!
Sylvia takes out the 8 broken pieces of the Nexus and sets them on the ground. The pieces rise up and all point the sharp ends toward Cori.
CORI: ME?!
SYLVIA: I think that they are pointing to something floating, but I'm not sure.
The piece fly to Cori, but she is able to dodge them with ease.
CORI: Yes! Take that, flying pieces!
Cori doesn't realize, but the pieces are flying back again, but Cori, being prepared for this, dodges them again.
CORI: You can't sneak attack me!
The pieces then merge into Fenton and rises and glows white as well, and after a minute, the glowing stops and Fenton appears again, but with jet black eyes and a sharp tail.
CORI: Oh no.
Cori begins to fight Fenton.
FENTON: *growl*
CORI: This is literal natural instinct.
Cori is able the throw Fenton against a wall, but he instantly gets back up and lunges at Cori, but obviously she dodges Fenton, and he slides against the floor.
CORI: That was way too easy-
Fenton uses his sharpened tail and impales Cori.
CORI: ...
DEREK: FENTON!
FENTON: Hehehe... Did you forget about the sharpened tail?!
Fenton pulls his tail out of Cori.
CORI: M-make sure that... she goes back to normal again... okay?
Cori falls to the ground.
DEREK: I got this, Fenton...
Derek's Psychic marks glow yellow and a large burst of energy blows Fenton back. He hits another wall, and the pieces fall out of him. He hits the ground in almost-defeat.
FENTON: Oof... What happened?
Derek runs to Fenton.
DEREK: It's so good, that you're OK, but you probably don't remember... uh...
FENTON: What?
DEREK: You killed Cori...
FENTON: WHAAAAAAT?!
Fenton runs to Cori, but she fades away before he can make it.
FENTON: No...
SYLVIA: ...
Sylvia glows white and the whole room fill white. After another minute of complete silence, Sylvia, Derek, and Fenton are back in the base.
SYLVIA: Derek?
DEREK: Sylvia!
The two hug.
DEREK: We have some bad news and some good news. What should I tell you first.
SYLVIA: The good news.
DEREK: Alright then. The good news is that we got you back to your normal form, but the bad news is that the 8 pieces fused with Fenton, and he killed Cori.
SYLVIA: What?!
DEREK: I know. I was surprised, too.
SYLVIA: Well, tell me what happened.
Fenton leaves and goes to his room. He looks up.
FENTON: I... I'll miss you, Cori.
Fenton then makes a Cori Memorial in the safe room. He then puts his paw on the picture of Cori.
FENTON: I love you...

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Oooof! Finally, I finished it! Thank you for reading this, this was hard to make. I stayed up at 4:00 AM writing this, so that was a pain. Still, I'm so glad I finished it. The ending was the hardest thing to write because it was too sad to do, but I planned it for a long time, so yeah. One last thing, this marks the last time Cori will ever appear in Psychic as a main character (she still appears as flashbacks). I'm sorry, but I had a reason for this. I never knew on what to do for the character. It might seem bad at first, but it's the most logical reason I have. Also, a new series will start tomorrow, so be on the lookout for that... Thanks!
