Total Drama 2020

Time: 2:46 PM
Date: January 22nd, 2020.
Location: "Intercontinental TV" Headquarters
A group of very important executives sit around a circular desk in a brightly lit conference room. 5 executives in total await for a guest who has yet to arrive.
"Oh for God's sake, it has been nearly twenty minutes. Face it, he's not showing up." Says one of the executives.
"I agree with Dwayne, this was a waste of time." Says the executive named 'Richard'
"Did we honestly expect him to arrive at the set time?" asks 'Benson' "We should have gone with Rogan…"
The head exec sighs. "Alrighty then, let's just-"
Before she can finish her sentence, the conference room door busts open. The gentleman who kicked it open is hunched over and attempting to catch his breath. The man is Chris McLean
"Don't worry everyone (breath) I-I made it!" Says Chris, who sounds like he's on the verge of an asthma attack. "Chris McLean is in the building!"
The Chris we see here is different to how we remember him. He is older, with his signature hair now peppered with gray and his once "Chiseled " physique is less apparent , his six pack now has been replaced by a slight belly. He still is rocking the same outfit he wore on the show. An attempt to hold on to the past. The years since the show ended have not treated him kindly.
"Mr. McLean, so happy you could join us today." Says Dwayne, " Would have been nicer if you arrived at the set meet time."
Chris forces a smile. "Dwayne, long time no see buddy. Surprised to see you haven't retired yet. Did you guys know that Dwayne was at the original meeting where I initially pitched Total Drama Island?"
"Yes, that's actually why I included him here today" Says the head Exec, who is named 'Wanda'. "Please have a seat Chris, I've been eager to meet with you."
A smug smile creeps on to Chris' face. He takes a seat and leans back in it. "Same here. I'm glad you finally came to your senses and realized what a commodity I was to this company. I, after all, did help put your studio on the map thanks to TDI."
Most of the room rolls their eyes at this.
"Oh please, this studio was doing just fine before we brought you in." Says Dwayne.
"No, he's right." Replies Wanda, "The studio was in dire straits before your show was produced. Which is why I set up this meeting today. The company has been churning out failures recently, I'm talking rating bombs."
"I wouldn't call them 'Bombs', I'd describe them more like...sinking ships." Says Executive Mary.
"Oh that's a perfect analogy!" Says Richard.
"I get it, you guys need some new show ideas! You came to the right guy for this." Says Chris.
"Actually, we're not interested in any new ideas from you." Wanda Says.
Chris' smile falters. "Oh, so then you want me to host a new show?"
"Not exactly." she says.
"What is it exactly that you want from me?" says" Chris, his smile now gone completely.
"We want you to be the host of our new Total Drama Island reboot. Dwayne Says.
"Reboot!?" Shouts Chris.
"It's been 13 years since the original season premiered and 10 since the final season aired,, we here at Intercontinental TV, believe that now is the perfect time for Total Drama to return to air. The series is absolutely Ripe for a comeback."
"How dare you. The show doesn't need to be remade, it's done, the original cast will never agree to come back, so why even bother?" Says Chris, who is now out of his seat. He slams his hand on the table and crosses his arms. "I won't do it."
"Chris, the studio owns the Total Drama Franchise. And as such, we can do with it as we please." Says Wanda. "We plan on filming on a new island, at a new camp with 16 fresh Teenagers from around the world."
"You should be grateful we're even offering you the job. Joe Rogan was my personal first choice, but Wanda here said that it wouldn't be the same without you." Says Dwayne.
Wanda speaks. " Chris, you bring a certain energy to the show that is severely needed. When Total Drama was in its prime, it was a ratings juggernaut. Because of you. I want you on board for this. However, if you decline, we WILL proceed without you. Do you really want someone else to be the face of your brainchild? Do you really want Joe Rogan to host YOUR show"
"...I should have been consulted first. Not cool, dude. Not cool at all."
"So is that a yes or a no. This could be your comeback, Chris." Wanda Says to him. She slides a contract towards him.
"Before I sign ANYTHING, I have a few conditions." Says Chris.
"We're not going to Entertain any of the conditions, Chris, take the contract as is." Says Dwayne.
Chris glances to Wanda. She nods.
"What are your terms?"
" First off, I get to pick the cast. Secondly, I want total creative control, including challenges and production, that being said, I also get to pick my staff. I Will also need my own private luxury villa located on set and an air-conditioned trailer."
Dwayne rolls his eyes. "Oh please."
"Ok. I agree to those terms." Says Wanda. "I will have our lawyers draft up a contract ASAP. And I think it goes without saying, that your salary will be very, very handsome."
"Yes, I too, agree that it goes without saying." Chris Says.
"We plan to begin filming in 6 months. We found a lovely little island off the coast of Samoa. We're already in the process of receiving interview submissions and are sending out additional requests for audition tapes now. You can make the final selections."
"Sounds good to me. That will give me some time to get into shape. This is all coming together nicely."
"And dye your hair!" Says Mary.
"And get cosmetic surgery!" Adds Richard.
"Well, We're glad to hear that. I Will be in touch with you tomorrow to iron out the final details of your contract. We're glad that you came on board us,Chris you're not gonna regret it. This is going to be a smash hit."
Says Wanda.
She and Chris shake hands.
"Oh I know." replies Chris. He lets out a laugh before exiting the room.
Once he is gone, Dwayne turns to Wanda and shakes his head.
"Wanda, I cannot believe that you of all people are putting faith into a washed up hack from over a decade ago." Says Dwayne. "This could potentially ruin this company."
"Dwayne, I didn't get to where I am today by playing it safe. Every once in a while, you have to take a risk." She replies. "That's why you never became VP and I did. We're now moving forward with this project, and I for one am eager to see the end result. Do you have anything further to say Dwayne?"
Dwayne stands down.
" So be it. Total Drama 2020 is officially on."
