After dying, a young man is abducted by an unknown something and given a variation of the gamer ability, what his journey through the multiverse with his new powers

It was an ordinary day, or it was as far as i was concerned anyways, I woke up made my way to Uni, went to my classes, eventually left and made my way to my part time job before coming home, expect that didn't happen this time, this time instead of going straight home I went a different route, took a detour, I don't know what made me do it but it felt like the smart thing to do so i followed that instinct, i'm glad but yet upset that I did so to be honest, without me some poor little girl would be dead and I would've been none the wiser but now I was the one dying, laying in a puddle of blood, my bones broken and my vision slowly fading, I had to wonder if this was really it, there was no way i was surviving, I wasn't some anime protagonist who could miraculously come back from anything, I was just a regular guy who had human limits

Slowly my already fading vision went completely black and the pain from my body vanished, the coldest sensation I had ever felt rushing over my body in an instant before all i knew was the void, as my consciousness slowly slipped away, I guess this is it then, I'm just glad that I had saved that girl before she suffered from the same fate as I currently am

As my consciousness returned i opened my ears blearily, blinking a few times to get my eyes accustomed to the new light in my vision and to get my eyes to be rid of the blurriness, when the blur in my vision was finally gone I ventured a look at the place I was in, instantly noting that It wasn't a hospital, or anywhere really it was just a plain looking room, white walls with no doors or windows, a recliner situated near the centre of the room, with the only other thing in the room being a small coffee table in front of the chair

Hesitantly I made my way over to the desk and table, seeing nothing on either before slowly taking a seat, waiting for something to happen, when nothing did I relaxed and started to ponder on my situation.

I was clearly dead and this was definitely some sort of afterlife, the only reason i assume that much is because if I were alive i'd more likely than not be in a hospital room right now and not… wherever I am. I'm also assuming this is some sort of afterlife because i've seen too much anime and read to many fanfictions to recognise a situation like this when I see one, it's now just seeing what was going to happen, is a God going to come see me, is his just a prelude to me being a gamer, what?

It was during my contemplation when a shift in the room happened and what seemed to be an Ipad dropped onto the table, remaining completely unbroken despite the fall it took. Taking a moments I hesitantly grabbed the Ipad and turned on the screen, instead of the lock screen popping the screen instantly opened into an app

The [No] option was locked so I was being forced to press yes, God I don't know if I want to be a Gamer or not, while it sounds great I was never good at video games, hell the only one's I really played were Fifa, Skyrim and Assassin's Creed and even then it was very sporadically, i'd be screwed if my whole life was turned into a game

That was a long list of worlds, however I had already started sorting out which worlds I didn't want to go to and which worlds were good enough, Naruto, Dragon Ball, Percy Jackson, Highschool DxD, and Fairy Tail were instantly eliminated and all for more or less the same reasons. These worlds were overpowered and I very much so doubt that i'll be given the choice to influence my life prior to living it, meaning that i can't go to a family that will benefit me.

Even though Naruto is still a messed up world, if I were born in a clan like the Senju or Uchiha - if I could survive the slaughter - then it would be bearable, i'd have people tripping over their feet to train me, plus all the bonuses of being in a clan like the senju or uchiha, like the endless amount of Jutsu they own. Dragon Ball would be easier if I were a saiyan, and that's going off of the principle of me being able to not only access Ki but also be able to go super saiyan

Percy Jackson was a world of Gods and other immortals and is a terrifying world to be forced to live in, plus the chances of me being born mortal are very high, and even if I were born a demigod I doubt i'd be allowed to choose my godly parent, and that would make or break my stay in the world.

Highschool DxD and Fairy Tail were in the same boat as Dragon Ball and Naruto, very overpowered worlds but if i were given the right start, could be more bearable. For Highschool DxD being a dragon or a devil would be best, or maybe a half-blood of some kind, so i have at least a small chance of getting a scared gear, Fairy Tail on the other hand, wouldn't be as bad but the power differences are still massive, and really i'd only feel safe with having a form of slayer magic

That left me with some other options. Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Rosario Vampire, Seven Deadly Sins and Food Wars are all worlds I know alot about but have no desire to join. Harry Potter because it';s boring in comparison and the magic there is very limited in use, plus i'd be getting dragged into a blood war with no way of escape

Hunger Games was a death match and while it would be interesting to go to I have no desire to be killed so quickly after being resurrected, the same could be said about Seven Deadly Sins to be fair. Finally was Food Wars, and if I was confident in my cooking skills to the degree of going to such a prestigious school then I would, but I don't and there's no way I'm wasting my new life in a world like that. Actually now that iI think about it that said 'Starter World' didn't it, does that mean i'm going to be able to change worlds at some point or something?

Shaking my head at the thought I continued to focus on my remaining options, this time dismissing worlds I didn't know a lot about or didn't have confidence in my world knowledge of, getting rid of Skyrim, Fallout, Assassins Creed, RWBY and No Game No Life.

While I did indeed play Assassins Creed, Skyrim and Fallout I didn't play them religiously, I only completed Skyrim once a few years ago and since then just played around with Mods, I never actually completed Fallout 4, mainly just messing with mods, i was to busy to play it in full and never got around to doing so and assassins creed? Well i didn't know much about the games, the last game i played was Odyssey and Origins and before that i replayed the Ezio trilogy but that was a few years back and i missed a lot, plus i don't remember a lot of the plot anyways

Meanwhile I had only read RWBY fanfiction so i'm a complete noob when it comes to RWBY and while I did watch No Game No Life it was discontinued and I never bothered to try find out if anything happens after where the show ends, so I wouldn't trust myself in a world like that.

That left me with my 'Safe Options' which were My Hero Academia, Assassination Classroom and Rosario Vampire, I think the only 'safe' one out of the trio My Hero Academia and that's still pretty fucking rough. I discarded Rosario Vampire, if it was true i could switch worlds then i'll probably come back but until then i'm not touching that world

That left me with Assassination Classroom and My Hero Academia, and honestly i was fine with either world, I knew a lot about both and would learn a lot in both worlds, It was just a matter of experience I could gain, if I knew that I was going to be a Gamer for sure then i'd be choosing My Hero Academia ever day of the week, more quests, able to use my powers without fear, training in said owers and more, however I'd rather play it safe with Assassintion Classroom, because even if I am a gamer theres a huge chance of getting a huge end quest to kill/defeat Koro-Sensei, plus so long as the game creates a background that explains my powers I could explain them away, make people think that i'm some dorty of powered individual

They both held benefits and they were both pretty reasonable worlds in regards to the power scaling, with the expectations of All Might, All for One and of course Koro-Sensei, they both offered me a great amount of learning experience, so it basically came down to learning to be an Assassin or a Hero. I knew which one I was picking, learning to be an Assassin is way more useful than being a hero

The game likes to ask questions like that, I think this is going to be a recurring thing isn't it. It depends on what the thing means by chance, i'm assuming this is to do with my powers or, well, the powers i'll be given so this chance is going to be risky, but I have no doubts that I won't be allowed to use any powers if i disagree, so yeah i guess I will take a chance

Taking a chance is something that may be offered to you from time to time, Chances can range from fifty-fifty chances with one good option and one bad option to what type of skill you can have again. Chances are very rare and act as a seperate form of the Gacha

So the Gacha was in this Game? That was good to know, that meant that I would still have chances to gain skills, items and more even in worlds that don't have magic and thing in it, it also gave me a much higher chance of getting skills that I usually wouldn't get, clicking next I raised an eyebrow at the screen

[Option 1] - Have the chance to gain all of the abilities of a character from any piece of fiction from your world, but regular people with no powers/useless powers are thrown in the mix

That was strange, I expected to just be offered the chance to gain an overpowered ability or a weak and useless one, not one like this, shaking my head I re-read the option, while Option 1 sounded good the risk was far too high and the reward was useless, especially since most characters only have abilities you can gain through training like batman or Ironman, however the chance of becoming Superman is really cool. It also has the drawback of people realising I have all the exact same skills and abilities as them, it'd be suspicious

Option 2 however was way better, a guaranteed ability from a world of my choosing, if i pick the right world then i could be guaranteed an amazing power, however the drawback is if its an ability I don't know anything about, because then I won't be able to use it properly. Option two it is, i even knew which world i was going to

After selecting the option and typing in the world the screen loaded for a second before a spinning wheel appeared on the screen, with options so small I couldn't even see what any of them said on them, clicking on the wheel it started to spin, spinning so fast that i was almost hypnotised by the spinning colours, after about 30 seconds of waiting the wheel started to slow down before coming to a complete halt and my new ability appearing on the screen, a smirk decorating my face when I saw what the ability was

I will admit, I did cackle a bit, but only a little bit! This was the reason i selected Fairy Tail, not only did they have some overpowered magic powers but they were versatile as all hell, just look at Grey, his magic is so simple but can be so complex.

However the true reason for choosing Fairy Tail was because of Slayer Magic, any of the three is extremely overpowered but Dragon Slayer Magic is the one shown to be the best, even if God Slayer Magic should realistically be waaay better, but who cares. Anyways, Dragon Slayer Magic was completely OP and was the magic type I desperately wanted, the magic I was given, Sound Dragon Slayer Magic, is extremely useful, especially for an assassin since it just means I can 'eat' the sound waves the guns and I produce

Shaking my head slightly, I pressed [Next], waiting for the next screen to finish loading in, when it did the screen shifted into a completely blue screen with a textbox inside of it, 5 different labels on the top, labelled 'Character', 'Skills', 'Inventory', 'Quests' and 'Store' respectfully

This is what you will use to be able to see your Stats while you're playing the game, simply click on the respectful tab and it'll open up and show you what you want. Others won't be able to see what you see and will instead show them a different screen

The Character tab will allow you to see your stats, as well as allow you to see what you look like, since you have yet to go into character creation your body has not been loaded in.

That was cool, and it was much easier than what is stereotypical for gamers since it'll just look like i'm on my phone and a game notification will look just like that, a game notification, clicking onto Character the screen changed displaying my stats

A new name huh… I had been ignoring it because of all of this but I guess I have to accept the fact that I was truly dead, or that I died anyways, I had to leave my old life behind and accept that i was no longer the person I was, because now I was Tokito, and would be until I died again. After a few minutes of peaceful silence I released another sigh before looking down at the screen and typing in the my new name and allocating my points

I hope that's alright, I know that Intelligence and Wisdom dictates my MP and that Endurance dictates my HP, I also know that, if used correctly, Charisma is the most broken stat I had access to, Dexterity doesn't just improve my speed but it also improves my reaction time and perception, strength was obvious in what it does to be honest

After confirming that I wanted to customise my character the screen changed to that of a naked guy around 15 years old who was completely plain looking, on the sides of the screen it displayed his height and weight

After a quick tutorial i started to mess with my body, making me about as tall as I used to be when I was 15, so around about 5 foot 9, changing my skin to be fairer than it was and making me slightly more pale, changing my hair colour so that it was pitch black instead of brown and making my eye colour into a dark green colour. In Japan it would be strange since I look like a foreigner but honestly I don't really care. Confirming my character, the screen displayed more text

Dismissing the text, i clicked onto the skills menu, and after a slight buffering the screen loaded, this time the screen had a couple sets of writing in bold

They were the only skills I had currently, which was fitting, but I was confused as to why there weren't any descriptions on the skills i was given, hesitantly I clicked on one of the skills, understanding passing through me as it extended out to explain the skill in more detail, after dismissing the extended text another message popped up

I dismissed the text and clicked onto the store, watching as the screen once again loaded into the store, when it finally did I raised an eyebrow, the store seemed familiar somehow, after staring at it for a few minutes my eyes widened as I recognised the similarities to the Mod Store on Skyrim Console Edition

The screen was scrollable both vertically and horizontally, with different sections relating to buildings, armours, weapons, companions, skills, and more, a search option was also available. Smiling slightly I started looking through the store, sweat dropping at some of the prices, It makes sense that the store would be completely overpriced so it can dissuade you from trying to buy your way throughout the game. After a few more minutes of scrolling through the store, i received another notification

Thank you for completing the tutorial, after you wake up you will be filled in on your backstory and begin your journey to greatness

So hey, This is my first fanfiction on this account so I'll take a moment to address you, my - hopefully - future readers.

So this is actually a second account that I've made, keeping my main account that I usually read fanfiction on as a separate thing to this one, so if I make references to other people's fanfictions and stuff that's why. I've also wrote some really shitty fanfiction back on Wattpad about 4 years ago, so I'll not really count them as any real writing experience

Also, I know that writing Gamer fanfiction is going to be a bitch but I'm trying something different with the gamer power to try keep my story unique, so instead of the Gamer ability being able to do certain things to other people its entirely personal to Tokito, and will only be able to affect him, so that means no abilities like observe, that's mainly on my part because I don't want people getting pissed at me fucking up peoples power levels so I'm sticking entirely to Tokito's own

Also, people are probably pissed at what I've done with the opening to this fic, what with him going to Assassination Classroom and getting Dragon Slayer Magic, but to all them people, you can fuck off, it's my story and if you don't like it then don't fucking read it.

Speaking of the starting world being Assassination Classroom, I'm actually really nervous about writing in the Assassination Classroom universe, while I have watched the anime I haven't read the manga and it's been a while since I've watched it, so excuse me if the updates are long because I'm going to be reminding myself of the plot along the way. You may be wondering why I didn't go with My Hero Academia if that's the case and I answered that in the story. While being a hero is great and al, being an assassin will teach him far more skills that can be applied anywhere, he will go to the MHA Universe, but by that point he'll have the skills necessary to at least be an 'underground hero' like Erasure Head
