Chapter 1
Asgard palace
Hela paced around the dead body of Sigyn holding a squealing baby in her arms. The new-born would not shut up she thought. It was still dark in the realm of Asgard and the high pillars of gold towered in the shadows. The ruins these Asgardians had left her in were to deep. Revenge was a dish best served cold thought Hela, a chill running down her scarred spine. This child was the child of one of the most powerful men in Asgard – a trickster's daughter. Brought up correctly, she would do marvels. This little girl could tear Asgard to shreds, the way Hela never had managed.
'Sigyn' A voice called from the door, 'I've help'. Hela craned her neck to see through the gap of the agar door. Loki was running her way. With a flick of her wrist she silenced the wailing baby and jumped off the balcony landing on her black horse, riding into the fading night. The towering monuments of gold, crystal windows with no light seeping through and hung-over bridges disappeared into the background as the horse galloped through the mountains fleshed out with vibrant green vegetation. The horse rounded a corner and down a hill to the nook of the mountain. Hela descended, still carrying the baby in her arms, she traced a finger on the wet stone of the mountain. Placing the mute baby on some moss, she reached out at the hidden gap and stretched out. The rock moved slowly apart. An echo of bats shrieked and flooded out of the dimly lit cave into the soft colours of sunrise. Hela grabbed the child and slid through the gap revealing a one way portal to the realm of Hel. Her realm.
A little after sunrise
'Sigyn!' pleaded Loki as he fell to his knees searching for a sign of life in his wife. The room was bathed in the warm golden rays of the suns yet the atmosphere was solemn and dark, like if a presence deemed of Hel had come. The frameworks were untouched, not a thread on the red velvet carpet had moved and the soft linen of the bedsheets lay undone, witness of the night's murder. Only a window fluttered open from the wind.
'Esme, where's Esme.' The child. A new wave of panic flooded over Loki. Where was the child. Thor entered the room swinging his hammer but stopped in his tracks seeing the dead figure on the ground. A dozen guards came running behind Thor and circled the room.
'How now brother?' asked Thor, his cape dancing behind him because of the open window.
'The child. WHERE IS SHE!' Tears of confusion and sorrow fell down Loki's cheeks as he looked at Thor in despair.
'Why is she not here?'
'DO YOU SEE HER, DO YOU?' Loki yelled, anger boiling in his throat.
Thor shook his head dismissively and ordered a guard to fetch their mother Frigga before glancing back at the dead body of Sigyn.
Soon enough Frigga came in her white silk night dress and looked at the body. 'The child?' she asked softly. Everyone shook their heads and looked at the dead body of Loki's wife.
'Send our guards. Look over all of Asgard, all over the nine realms if you have to. We will find that child' ordered Frigga.
