I do not own Legend of Zelda

If I did… We would have a Legend of Zelda movie by now

Walking was so much harder when he had four legs. Standing was so much harder when he had four legs. Link slowly got off the floor, and shook the dust off his fur, ignoring Midna's cackles.

Left front paw. Right front paw. Left back paw. Right back paw.

Fantastic, one step done, about a thousand left.

"Go on, little wolf, you can do it," Midna's taunting voice said. He ignored her. If he was going to do this, he had to concentrate.

Left front paw. Right front paw. Left back paw. Right back paw.

Another step.

He felt a sharp yank on his ear. "Get going, little wolf." Midna vaulted off his back and floated in front of him. "We don't have all day." She flashed a fanged grin and gave him a come-on gesture.

That was it.

His best friend and all the other children in Ordon had been kidnapped by bokoblins and taken Farore knew where. He had been knocked out, turned into an animal, and locked up in a dungeon.

He was done with this.

Link lunged after Midna and promptly crashed into the wall. Ignoring her jeer of, "Aww, did the little wolf hurt himself?" he shook himself off and growled at her.

She laughed at it. "Ohh, so scary coming from the dog that can't even walk." He pounced at her, and she flipped away. "You have to try harder, little wolf," she sang, giving him another come-on gesture. Link gathered himself up and sprinted after her retreating form.

He was done with all of this. He might owe Midna a debt, but he didn't have to put up with the ridicule. Learning to walk with four paws was hard.

He stumbled over his own feet when he saw the ball of floating light. Midna stopped, too, and pointed at it. "That's why, little wolf, you have to learn to use that new body of yours," she said. "You're a wolf, you have better senses now. See if you can hear what it's saying."

He closed his eyes and focused hard on the whispering sounds coming from the trembling ball. When he opened them, the world was grey except for the ball of light. It was now a ghostly image of a soldier.

"Can't …run…any…further," he huffed. "That's …far…enough…right?" I'll be safe here…I think." Midna rapped against the wall, the sound re-echoing throughout the damp tunnel.

"What was that?" he squeaked, gripping his spear tighter. "Don't …don't anything come near here." Link shook his head, and the world returned to normal.

"Look little wolf," Midna said, gesturing to the ball of light. "This is what has happened to the brave world of light. Twilight touched it, and now it is a realm of spirits. You have to keep moving if you want to save it. You have to keep moving if you want to save your village and all the children too. If you can chase me down that tunnel over a few insults, you can certainly walk to save this precious land of yours." She thumped back down on his back.

"Well?" she asked. "Are you going to get going?'

Link shook his head once more, to rid himself of that depressing scene. Midna was right. He had sprinted down that tunnel over injured pride; he could certainly put one paw in front of the other for Hyrule.
