So, this is my take on a beautiful scene at the end of Mass Effect 3. I loved FemShep and Liara interactions since the first game and I absolutely love how these two seems to be made for each other.
A quick one-shot to warm our hearts in such difficult times.

"This is it, isn't it?"
She felt nothing. And everything. All at once.
The war was almost over, both of them could feel. Both of them could sense. Sense the incoming end. Wicked things were coming at them and they knew. They would face them together, as they always did. As they would always do.
Shepard held Liara closer. She felt warm. Shepard remembered the first kiss they shared and how different it was than what she had expected. Shepard felt, as soon as she kissed Liara that not only her life just had entirely changed but also that she wanted to spend all the years she had left entangled with Liara's body, mind and soul. Shepard was amused by this dreams but she kept her feet on the ground. She knew they couldn't run away from the Reapers menace. She knew, not by rules or by a rational train of thought, that only she were capable of stopping the Reapers. She knew.
And she was destroyed by it.
Why she couldn't be with the woman she loved? Why they couldn't retire to a planet filled with amazing nature and grow their blue children together?
"Hey. Don't go there. We are here. Enjoy our gift."
"I'm sorry. It's not fair."
"It never is, Shepard. We are what we are. We do what we do."
"Liara, I…"
"Shhhh. I know."
Slipping her finger from Shepard's mouth, Liara put her hand on the back of Shepard head and both of them shared a kiss. Shepard felt like the whole universe was watching and maybe it really was. Completely surrounded and embraced by not only hope, but love and happiness too, Shepard felt confident for the first time since they started the race to build the Crucible. But that didn't matter anymore. Past, future, nothing mattered anymore. Shepard could run her fingers on the face of the woman she loved. She could embrace Liara's warmth and feel the love they had for each other.
They were together and nothing else mattered.
"Shepard."
"Liara?"
"I love you. Now let's do what needs to be done."
