Prologue

Arendelle Castle- 1845

There was a knock on the door, just three nearly silent, simple raps upon the wood. "Queen Anna?" A woman asked, slowly turning the handle and peering inside.

The two sisters were sitting on each side of the bed, one braiding the other's hair while humming a tune as soft as honey itself.

"Where the North Wind meets the sea

There's a river full of memory

Sleep, my darling, safe and sound

For in this river, all is found..."

Said sister was stroking the other's nose with a pinkie finger, eyes closed in bliss. Finally, after a minute of peace, the lullaby came to a stop and she leaned back against the cushions, both nearly sound asleep.

Gerda smiled wholeheartedly at the scene, and slowly walked out of the room, closing the door and leaning against it with a sigh. All was well in the kingdom, it seemed.

At least, for now.

…..

Meanwhile, a cloaked figure crept across the courtyard, mad ramblings whispered from behind a dark black hood, hand reaching into their pocket and pulling out a dagger. The blade was curved, glinting in the moonlight, black letters carved into its surface.

"By moonlight's spell

Shall she be gone

Into the hands

Of those who pawn

By blood and tears

Cast this curse

An icy spirit

A spell reverse…"

The figure turned, chuckling deeply to themselves. "Say goodbye to your precious sister and kingdom, my dear…" Boots clicking against cobblestone, they ran for the edge of the courtyard and waved a hand, disappearing into a puff of white smoke.

"Can't wait to see you there."
