Defiance

Chapter One

He passed through the doors into the Great Hall. His mind fixed on his bushy brown-haired girlfriend oblivious to anything going on around him. He didn't hear the noises around him or see the red-faced Ron Weasley as he charged towards him until hands grabbed the back of his robes and slammed him to the wall.

"Where is she Malfoy!" shouted an enraged Ron Weasley.

"Mr Weasley!" shouted Professor McGonagall.

"What?" asked Draco.

"How did you do it?" questioned Weasley.

"Ron let go of him," said Ginny.

"I don't have a clue what you're going on about Weasley," he said.

"Hermione's going missing. She was kidnapped by your father," snarled Ron, he didn't let up his hold on him.

"So, I obviously had something to do with it?" he asked.

"Of course, you did," spat Weasley, he pulled Draco's sleeve up.

"Finite," said Potter.

No glamour fell no mark was on his skin.

"Potter get your lap dog to let me and tell me what the hell is going on," said Draco.

"Ron put him down," said Harry.
"What!"

"Now," he said.

"Mr Weasley unhand Mr Malfoy this instance," ordered Professor McGonagall, as she approached them.

He let him go and Draco landed in a heap on the floor as he got to his feet Blaise came to his side.

"Draco has been in the castle all day," said Blaise.

"You would say that," muttered Ron.

Harry looked at Malfoy and wondered why he was telling him everything but mentally shrugged.

"Hermione, Ron and I were in Hogsmeade this morning," he started. "Ron and I went to Zoko's, Hermione nipped in Honeydukes and then headed to the book shop. She also likes to go the end of town, where the bench is to sit and read. We went to meet her and as we got there your father appeared from the bushes and disapparated with her. We don't why or where."

Draco felt him blood run cold. His father had Hermione.

"Shite!"

"Mr Malfoy."

He stayed silent for a minute more, then looked at his signet ring and walked out of the Great Hall.

"Where's he going?" asked Ron.

"To the Malfoy Manor," said Blaise.

"No doubt to help his father torture Hermione," snarled Ron.

"More likely to rescue her," started Blaise. "Draco and Hermione are involved,"

"What?" asked Harry.

"Hermione wouldn't be involved with the ferret," said Ron.

"It started at the Halloween Ball last year all the masks and costumes etc. They danced, they talked and had walk outside. One thing led to other and they discovered who they were the next morning. They started a tentative friendship and study relationship but soon fell back into bed together and have been together ever since."

Ron stood with his mouth agape while slowly turning red. While Harry stood there, and Blaise could see the gears turn in his head.

"It all makes sense now," muttered Harry

"What does," snapped Ron.

"She's been spending less time with us more in the library or on patrols or doing something. Ginny made a remark the other week that maybe Hermione had a boyfriend you just brushed it off. Plus, she's been happier," mused Harry.

"She didn't tell you guys because this is how she thought you would react," explained Blaise. "Plus, in the beginning it was just a friendship and when it turned into a relationship, they weren't sure about it."

"Well she shouldn't have gone through with it," muttered Ron.

"Hermione is your best friend," said Blaise. "Are you really going to break that friendship over a guy she's seeing."

"No," said Harry. "Hermione was the first real friend I had, and we've been through so much together that I'm not going to toss that away just because she's with Malfoy. I guess we'll just have to tolerate him."

Blaise held his hand out to him. "Blaise Zabini."
"Nice to meet you," said Harry. "Ron"

"I'm not ok with this," said Ron. "I need time," he muttered before he headed to the table.

"Now we have to figure out how to get into Malfoy Manor," said Harry.

"Mr Potter," started Professor McGonagall.

"Unless your family or specifically added to the wards or keyed into the floo Malfoy Manor is impossible to get into," said Blaise.

"Are you added to the wards or the floo?" asked Harry.

Blaise shook his head. "I get keyed to the floo when I'm visiting but I have to owl Draco before hand or have the visit planned a couple of days in advance. As you can imagine Lucius is very paranoid. Plus, I'm unsure if they have any house guests."

"House guests?" asked Harry.

Blaise raised an eyebrow. "The Dark Lord. Other death eaters."
"Doesn't sound like a great house to grow up in," said Harry.

"It's not. What Draco's doing now will be seen as defiance. All we can do now Potter is stop and wait," said Blaise.
