Awakening of The Last Vordiak Part 4

The white lady, the dryad and the land of elves

~Prologue~

Sinbad passed through the magical portal vigilantly, carrying his sword in one hand and Dermott on the other wrist. Dermott instantly took off to the starry sky and Sinbad blinked searching around and looking for any possible enemy.

But he found none… as a matter of fact there was completely nothing, just a large barren land where your eyes meet no end. Absolutely nothing! No trees, or vegetation of any kind, no animals or any living creatures.

"Dermott, tell them to come in." he called for the hawk as he began to take steps forward in this desolate land.

The others came in through the portal with Doubar still carried on the back of the wolf. "And now, what is that?" he commented tiredly.

"I have absolutely no idea, Doubar. But this aridity is kind of relieving." replied Sinbad.

"I need to find herbs to treat your injury, though, Doubar." Firouz noted desperately. "I don't know how to find them here." He gestured to their surroundings.

"Let's hope that the cannibals don't know about this portal or come through it." Tetsu replied as he watched the wolf shaking his head towards the scientist's direction and lower itself to the ground.

"I believe it wants you to get off of him, Doubar." said Fairouz and he started with Rongar to help Doubar off the wolf carefully.

Sinbad watched them distractedly as he replied to Tetsu: "I don't believe they know about it or they would be here by now. This portal was cunningly hidden through the trees of the wood and it's not for their dim witted brains to put two and two together or they would have been living here as well."

Bryn was helping Doubar with his injured leg to settle down comfortably on the dry ground when Ymir changed to her dark human form startling the three crew members who didn't see this form of hers before.

"Don't worry, it's Ymir. I think I can help with Doubar's injury, Firouz." Ymir said calmly as she held out her hands.

"She can transform into wolf, and has two human forms." Sinbad explained hastily.

Bryn frowned at this new information as she stared at Ymir intently, trying silently to solve this new puzzle. Firouz, on the other hand, shook his head as though trying to clear his head. "Right!" he murmured after a few seconds, "That's very relieving indeed to know it's you, Ymir and that you are safe and sound. Please, be my guest." He gestured to Doubar who surprisingly enough was the least shocked of them.

Tetsu smiled at him, "You seem to be taking this pretty well, big mate."

"After all I had seen and learned about during this journey, nothing surprise me anymore." replied Doubar tiredly after a groan.

Ymir held out her hand to Rongar who gave her back her small bag which he carried crossly on his shoulder during their last fight as she would been unable to keep it with her transformation. And instantly, she brought out small jars of salves, potions and herbs. Firouz joined her.

Sinbad looked at them working on his brother's leg for a while before starting to speak again. "We need to scout the area. Tetsu and Rongar stay her to defend the others if anything happens. Bryn and Dermott come with me."

With that, both captain and sorceress left to discover the unknown land, preceded by Dermott in the sky; leaving behind a very exhausted crew.
