Wishes And Confessions
Stormblade and Shooting Star were in the hanger of Skylanders Academy, polishing up the freshly-washed Sky Slicer. "She's looking as shiny as a new ten-penny whistle," the Air Supercharger said, using a phrase she had heard Rachel say occasionally.
"Yeah," Shooting Star, the bowslinger Imaginator, said. "You've got an awesome air vehicle, Stormblade."
"Thanks."
The two then stood back to admire their work. The Sky Slicer shined in the sunlight, looking ready for racing. "Okay, let me see your arrows and I'll sharpen them for you," the Air Supercharger said.
Shooting Star looked at her incredulously. "That wasn't part of our deal," she said. "It was whoever lost had to clean and polish your Sky Slicer and sharpen my arrows for a week. You won the bet fair and square."
"True, but I don't mind," Stormblade said as they headed for a sharpening stone outside of a mabu's forge. Paying him the 10 G, the two got the stone going and began sharpening the Imaginator's arrows. "So, how was your date with Ro-Bow?"
"It was amazing," Shooting Star said, getting a dreamy smile before looking a little embarrassed. "I thought for sure something would go wrong or I'd embarrass myself like when I let it slip that I had a crush on him."
"That must have taken Ro-Bow by surprise," the Air Supercharger said, feeling sympathy for the Imaginator. "I probably would have fled if I had let it slip to Gin that I like him."
Shooting Star nodded. "I tried to leave, but he wouldn't let me leave without asking me if I was learning from him just because of my crush or if I was serious about it," she admitted.
"Well, you're dedicated, so I know you're learning from him because you want to and not just because of your crush."
That was actually one of the nicest things the Air Supercharger had said to the Imaginator, who looked at her gratefully. "Hey, I know someone who can help you, if you want to confess to Gin," she said. "Rachel. She and Gin helped me when I was nervous about my date with Ro-Bow."
Stormblade was quiet. "I really do want to tell him," she admitted. "But...what if he doesn't feel that way about me?"
"You won't know until you tell him," Shooting Star said. "And even if he doesn't feel that way about you, you know he wouldn't trade you for another partner."
The Air Supercharger appreciated the kind words. "Thanks," she said. "I just might do that."
When they were done, Shooting Star went to go practice while Stormblade sought out Rachel, who was in one of the training rooms with her new partner, Grim Creeper. The two had been friends for a long time and finally the ghost had asked if he could join her team and she had welcomed him. They paused at seeing Stormblade looking like she wanted to talk to them, but was also nervous. "Hey, Storm, what's up?" Rachel asked.
"Well, do you have a minute, Tech Portal Master?"
A few moments later, they were all sitting down and drinking refreshing Root Beer floats as Stormblade told Rachel about the bet she and Shooting Star had made and while she had won the bet, she was still nervous about telling Gin that she liked him. "Do you think he knows?" She asked.
Rachel grew thoughtful and nodded. "He might," she said. "But he hasn't said anything to me about it."
Stormblade felt a bit crestfallen. "Oh," she said.
"Maybe he likes you but isn't sure how to tell you?" Grim Creeper said.
She looked up. "Do you think so?"
"That's a good point," Rachel said before looking thoughtful again. "You know, Gin's birthday is today and we're planning a party for him, but we need some ideas and you know him better than we do, Storm."
That gave the Air Supercharger an idea. "I could confess to him that I like him on his birthday," she said.
The Tech Portal Master smiled. "That's a great idea," she said.
Stormblade nodded. "Okay, so Gin likes pretty much anything to do with the air," she said. "Ooh, maybe we could have the party at the bowling alley?"
"That's not a bad idea," Grim said with a smile. "We could all join in the fun then."
"And Master Eon recently had a bowling alley added to the Academy," Rachel said. "Okay, so bowling alley. I was thinking maybe a cake in the shape of the Air Element."
"Perfect," the Air Supercharger said.
As Gin's partners, Master Eon, Rachel and her partners worked on the surprise birthday party, Stormblade was trying to decide what to get for Gin for his birthday. She glanced around Auric's shop and found a charm that would let the wearer create a temporary air shield. Smiling, she purchased it and wrapped it up, deciding that would be a good gift. It would coincide with his element and give him something he could use. "I hope he likes it," she said to herself.
Shooting Star came out, a few streamers clinging to her shoulders. "Hey, Storm. We need some help with these streamers," she said.
"Sure," the Air Supercharger said with a smile, going in and helping, liking how everything was looking so far.
Meanwhile, Gin was in the library, thinking about Stormblade. He had noticed lately that she was acting really shy around him and seemed nervous about something, but he couldn't put his finger on it. "I wonder what's got her nervous that she won't tell me about it," he said to himself.
"Hey, look! It's the male Air Portal Master!"
Hearing the excited cry, he turned to find Breeze coming up to him, the mini Air dragon looking up at him admiringly. Blades was behind her and he chuckled, nodding to Gin. "She's heard much about you from Stormblade and has always wanted to meet you," he said.
The male Air Portal Master smiled. "Well, hello, Breeze," he said. "I was talking to Whirlwind the other day and she was bragging about how you went through an obstacle course all by yourself without getting stuck."
Breeze looked happy before looking a little sheepish. "Actually, I did get caught once and almost a second time, but I got free," she admitted.
"It was still a good run for a first try," Blades said.
At that moment, Rachel walked into the library. "Hey, Gin! There you are!" She said with a smile. "I've been looking for you."
"Hey, Rach," he said. "What's up?"
"Well, there's a new bowling alley at the Academy. Want to come check it out?"
"Sure. Sounds like fun."
When they arrived at the new bowling alley, it was dark. Gin looked at Rachel, noticing that she was smiling hugely. "Rach? What's going on?" He asked her.
"Oh, just...a party," she said, flipping on the light switch when she said the last two words.
The room lit up and Gin was surprised at seeing the room was decorated for a party with a huge banner that read 'Happy Birthday, Gin!' and there was a huge cake in the center of one table and it was shaped like the Air element. He looked to see all his friends and partners gathered around and smiling.
"Wow," he said in surprise. "You guys did all this?"
"Of course," Shooting Star said with a smile. "It's your birthday, Gin."
"You didn't think we'd let it pass without a celebration, did you?" Dreamcatcher asked with a smile.
"Not on your life," Stormblade said with a giggle.
Fiesta let out a mariachi trill. "It's party time!" He cheered.
The party kicked off and Gin was having a blast as they all took turns bowling and the mood was so jovial that no one cared who was in the lead or who was winning. They were all having fun, as was he.
"You guys are amazing," he said with a smile.
"You're amazing too, Gin," said Ro-Bow. "You're a good Portal Master and you've helped us defeat our enemies when they've risen up."
"You've been patient with me even when I'm stubborn," Shooting Star said.
"And you always have our backs in battle," Rachel said. "Plus we all love parties and if there's a celebration, you can bet there'll be a huge party to go with it."
As they were eating cake, Gin was given presents from his partners and he was thrilled at the thoughtful gifts. Shooting Star had gotten him some new boots while Dreamcatcher had gotten him a book about the Air element and what kind of tricks you could do if your main element was Air. The others got him stuff for his bike, which he was grateful for, and he noticed a small gift that was sitting by itself and picked it up, opening it to find the Air charm inside it. "Who's this from?" He asked curiously.
Everyone looked around, but looked confused. However, Rachel and Shooting Star saw Stormblade head quietly out, her face red. Both looked at each other and nodded. "It's from someone who really likes you, Gin," the Imaginator said.
"But she's really shy about telling you," Rachel said. "She's afraid you won't like her the same why she likes you."
Gin looked at them and he looked around, looking confused. "Where's Stormblade?" He asked.
"I think she went to the hanger," Ro-Bow said.
Nodding, the young man stood up. "Maybe she knows where I can find my mystery admirer," he said, heading to the hanger.
Shooting Star looked at Rachel. "Do you think he knows it's her?" She asked.
"I think he might have an idea that it is," the Tech Portal Master said. "Ro-Bow, Dreamcatcher, you guys are with me and SS."
The four headed for the hanger, finding a good spot to watch Gin and Stormblade while hoping that the Air Supercharger would be able to confess her feelings to her Portal Master.
Stormblade was standing by her Sky Slicer and apparently talking to it. "I want to tell him, but...what if he rejects me?" She asked aloud. "I don't want to lose him as a friend and my Portal Master, but I've got to tell him."
"Tell me what?"
At that question, the Air Supercharger shrieked and spun around, backing up against the Sky Slicer as she saw Gin was behind her. Her face went red as she tried to think of something to say, but was at a loss for words.
Noticing this, Gin smiled reassuringly. "Storm, did you give me this?" He asked, holding up the charm.
She nodded. "I thought it would come in handy in battle and I asked Master Eon to reinforce it so that you could use it for longer than usual," she said.
He smiled. "Thank you," he said.
She smiled before taking a deep breath, deciding to just tell him. "Gin, um, I have to tell you something," she said.
He looked concerned. "Okay," he said. "Are you alright?"
"Well...yes and no," Stormblade said before taking a deep breath. "A month ago, Shooting Star and I made a bet. A bet that was whoever confessed first to the guy they liked would have to clean and polish my Sky Slicer for a week and sharpen Shooting Star's arrows."
"Ah, I was wondering when SS mentioned about losing a bet, but she didn't seem upset about it," Gin said.
"Yeah," the Air Supercharger said. "I was teasing her about her crush on Ro-Bow and she was teasing me about the guy I like."
The male Air Portal Master nodded. "So you really like someone?" He asked. "As in...beyond friends?"
She nodded. "Yeah," she said.
"Who?" He asked.
She knew this was coming up and sighed. "You, Gin," she said. "I like you beyond friends and...I'd like to be...closer. Like boyfriend and girlfriend."
She stopped talking because she was scared he'd reject her. She looked at him and saw him looking a bit astonished before he smiled. "I...kind of suspected that when I saw you acting nervous around me," he admitted.
Stormblade bit her lip. "I'm...I'm sorry, Gin," she said.
He looked at her in surprise. "What for?" He asked. "I asked you who the guy was that you liked and you told me."
"Yeah, but...," she trailed off before covering her face with her hands. "Oh, this is so embarrassing."
Gin realized that Stormblade was worried about him rejecting her and he went up to her. "Storm," he said softly.
She looked up. "Yeah?" She asked before realizing how close he was. A moment later, gentle hands cupped her face and she was pulled gently into a kiss. Her eyes widened in shock at that, but she instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck and closed her eyes, sighing in bliss.
Gin wrapped his arms around Stormblade, still kissing her before they gently broke away and he looked at her, looking a bit sheepish. "You know what I wished for when I blew out the candles on my cake?" He asked.
"What?" She asked gently.
"That I'd one day have a girlfriend who's amazing, smart, beautiful, an awesome pilot, and brave," he admitted before smiling. "And my wish just came true."
She realized he meant her. "Gin...you like me...beyond a friend?" She asked.
He kissed her again, making her feel dizzy before he gently pulled back. "Does that answer your question?" He asked her.
She smiled. "Does this answer your question?" She asked, kissing him full on the mouth.
Ro-Bow nodded as he saw that. "They deserve each other," he said.
"Yeah. They're a good match," Shooting Star said in agreement before looking up at her boyfriend. "Just like we are," she said, batting her eyelashes at him.
Chuckling, he pulled her in for a kiss while Rachel and Dreamcatcher watched. "I'm happy for him," the former villain said.
"Me too," the Tech Portal Master said, nodding before she stood up. "Come on. Let's let the lovebirds have some time alone."
The four headed out, still smiling as they were happy for the new couple, who were lost in both love and bliss as they stayed in each other's arms.
Happy Birthday, Guestspirit! Hope it's a blast!
