Chapter1: Gavin Free

Watching the stars from the roof of his friend's house; wasn't Gavin free's hobby.

The emerald-eyed blond gazed above him. The navy black sky with hundreds of bright dots. Glittering shiny gold crowns and rings with jewels. Seeing sights such as ursa minor, Draco and Cassiopeia. The blond watched, pulling out a gold coin from his pocket. Fingers pressing into the dented ridges, plating and smooth spaces. Shoulders relaxing as the cool night breeze washed over his face. The wooden tiles under him made his back ache.

Jack and Ryan both enjoyed stargazing. Sometimes they would all watch the sun set from Geoff's house. See the colours of orange and yellow melting into the trees. Then seeing the sky slowly change colours. It always took so long. Gavin always wondered why they did it? Why they enjoyed it?

Jack quoted it was nice to feel and small in the face of something so large. Knowing that one's mistakes didn't matter to the stars. Ryan said it was interesting. Unable to touch something so far away. In the end Gavin couldn't understand (distracted by Michael throwing cheese at him).

Th night was a beautiful sight but Gavin for all his admiration; would rather be inside. Asleep. Snuggled under his cosy blankets. He didn't want to be inside. Even if that meant getting no sleep. He couldn't stomach it. Even if tomorrow's agenda would be hunting. Stalking rabbits and deer for meat and fur. Bones for carving and using the fur for clothing. Tiring and exhausting hunting. Hunting the same patches of land. Seeing the same trees. Same bushes. Sam-

Gritting his teeth and grumbling, Gavin started flicking the coin. The golden piece of metal rose and fell several times. Eyes still on the sky above. Teeth grinding as he continued.

'Stupid Geoff…Stupid rules…Stupid hypocrisy-'

Twang!

"What?!" Snapping upwards, he saw the coin bounce on the wooden roof tiles. Jumping from one to the other. Gavin raced after it. Getting closer to the edge. Pushing himself up, he almost tripped over his feet. Muttering several curses as the coin continued to bounce. Hands grabbing nothing but air. Though Gavin was nothing but determined. In one final leap, his hands finally manged to grasp his sweet coin. Feeling the cold metal in his skin. Those several seconds made him sigh.

Then falling straight over the wall.

Hitting the grassy ground underneath, him. Giving a loud groan followed by several curses as he pushed himself. Bruises already forming on his legs and arms. Gavin could feel the blood dripping from his nose. Splattering on his green shirt.

"Bloody coin…" The blond grumbled and started to wipe his nose. It was only a trickle, but the bruise would be forming. getting to his feet, his hand pressing against the stone wall. Feeling bruises forming on his elbows and knees. Face burning from his stupid leap from the roof.

Glancing at the wall, he could climb over it. Sneak himself back to bed and pretend nothing had ever happened. Pocketing his coin, Gavin already grabbed one bit of wall.

"Better get bac-"

Then something made him shiver. His entire body almost jolted as it rippled through his bones. Gasping, he twisted around. Nobody was there. Nobody Gavin could see at least. Squinting in the darkness he couldn't make out much (he never had night vision like his family).

"Hello? Anyone out there?" Questioning aloud. He did receive an answer.

Almost like a gust of wind, it hit Gavin. A tingling starting at his fingertips and then spreading to his bones. It made his ribs tremble. Several seconds of weight pressed against his neck and head. Something heavy yet so light forced itself on him. Then disappearing as it came. An exhale of air left his lungs. A sensation of warmth settling in his ribs as he continued to breath. Whatever it was had…left an effect.

Gavin watched and scratched his head. Scrunching up his lips as he remembered what happened. It was almost so…weird but wonderful.

Giving a grin, he raced into the woods.

"But why not Geoff?"

Gavin glared at the moustached man as he continued to work. The desk had all sorts of technical contraptions on it. Nuts and bolts, metal sheets and all sorts of things. Geoff was trying to keep himself busy. The blond huffed and grasped the brunette's shirt once again. Tugging on it several times.

"Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff-"

The brunette snapped around with intensity. A single glare made the emerald-eyed male squeak.

"Gavin," Geoff hissed, "you are not ready."

Whatever fear the blond had disappeared, "I am ready!"

"You are not!" Snapped Geoff in return and waved a rather stupid screwdriver in Gavin's face. Slapping it away, he made sure to get in right in his friend's face.

"I can hunt, find gold, climb trees, fight mobs, use a compass and make anything from those metal sheet!" Waving his arms around. Geoff gave an unimpressed snort and Gavin gritted his teeth.

"You and Jack get to go outside all the time!" Gavin yelled , "I'm not bloody Ryan or Jeremy. I can't keep myself busy with magic. I'm not Michael who keeps doing tests with stuff."

Gavin hissed and held his head, "you keep saying I'm not ready. For what?! What's so bloody bad that I can't go out."

It was more like pleading. Geoff's eyes stared at him and his anger had turned softer. The wrinkles and bags under his eyes were more prominent that ever before. He placed his hand on Gavin's head. Giving a ruffle.

"I wouldn't be doing this if I hadn't taken everything into consideration," It was soft. Though Gavin clicked his teeth. Gritting his teeth in annoyance. He wanted his gold coin.

The tattooed man sighed, "You also know why, and we have told you."

It was only a split-second of a glance. A split-second. Though Gavin felt himself choke in seeing it. Emerald eyes traveling to his left arm. On his upper arm, sat what seemed to be a cluster of thick scales. They sat with different shades of green and looked like a tortoise shell plating's. Grown on his skin. The same would also be on his legs and side and back.

The blond whimpered and grabbed that bit of arm. Hand trying to cover it. Geoff sighed and pulled him into a hug. The warmth didn't deter that ugly feeling in his stomach. Something awful that made him squirm. The blonde's face burning. Already the weight pressed against his shoulder blades. He wanted his gold coin.

"When your ready Gavin," Geoff stated, "… please understand its for your benefit. I don't want what happened to Jeremy to happen to you."

"Ah…o-oh…" Gavin whispered and dropped his head. Pressing his face into Geoff' shirt.

He stayed there until Jack came in. The ginger male pulled him away from Geoff and asked for help with some gardening. Saying something about the roses.

He gardened while thinking of Jeremy.

The woods circling around Achievement city are large. The maps that Gavin have read show that it had spread for miles and miles on end without stopping. Though he wasn't sure if that was true. He had only hunted when close to the city. Rabbits, birds and sheep would wander through. On rare occasions a deer or a boar would trot along. Big animals weren't that common.

Mobs were common.

Even from the trees below did Gavin see those creatures. They weren't creepers but skeletons and undead. Living bones that made clattering noises and held a bow. The undead were groaning and lumbering about. The blond had only a small dagger on him. Not enough to combat them. The trees helped with shelter. Even better was that he could jump from branch to branch.

"Come one…Come on…" Gavin hissed as the small group began to move away. Then disappearing into the bushes. Giving a grin, he steadied his foot and then jumped. Well jump wasn't exactly the correct word. It was more of an ungraceful leap. Then landing on another strong branch. Leaves shaking as the sound echoed around.

Grasping onto another branch, he pushed himself off the first and hit another branch. Fingernails gripping into the bark as he continued. He had passed the hunting patches a while ago. Now the blond was in unknown territory.

That same wave of mystery had happened twice as he moved forward. Each time the feeling had become stronger. Leaving him breathless and feeling weirder each time. He wanted to find out. No, he needed to find out. It was leaving with curious.

Then as he landed on another branch, Gavin glanced up.

To see a massive crack in the earth. Staring with mouth wide open, it took a simple jump and roll for him to land.

Then racing towards the massive gap. It was his own unluckiness for him to trip. Stumble and almost throw himself right into the gap. Giving a screech, he landed onto the ground. Head hanging over the edge. There was nothing but darkness. An unending darkness that filled the crack. The blond scrambled away and got back onto his feet.

"Thank the gods," wheezing as he glared at his feet.

After a few minutes he managed to catch his own breath and glance around.

The gap in the earth look much wider up close. Just wide enough that nobody he knew could make it across. The crack spread from one end to the other with no end in sight. There was nothing that could help him make it across. No rope, no fallen trees or even a bridge. On the other side he could see more trees but not as thick and clumped together.

"Nothing from that wave of magic," he grumbled with disappointment. He was expecting something. A monument or even a tower. Maybe something-

It was much stronger. A sudden burst instead of a wave. It didn't hit Gavin like last time. It slammed into his ribs like a hammer. Then rattled his bones and warmth spread through his flesh and skin. It was an unbearable heat that made him sweat. A pressure that made him grunt. Whatever control he had was gone. Hitting the ground on his knees.

It made no sense and Gavin hissed loudly. Trying to glance around at whatever hit him. Seeing nothing once again, he glanced towards the sky.

The once dark navy sky was now painted bright red. Not any bright red but ruby bright red. The colour hadn't lit up the sky but had changed the sky colour. No stars and no clouds. Just this terrifying colour that made Gavin stare gobsmacked at it. In the distance he could see a beam. A white beam that seemed to reach into the sky. Burning and glowing like a nether star. His eyes stung at the sight.

He didn't mange to look away as the entire world tilted.

It was like being flipped. Everything from the trees and the ground tilted to the side and the ground rumbled. Shaking and trembling without any warning. The blond screamed as he hurtled to the side. Hands held onto the grass. Tugging and grasping and daring not to let go. His centre of gravity was off. His head spun as the tilt continued and the world continued to rumble underneath.

Everything in his vision was shaking.

The grass broke and the blond felt himself tumble into air. He gave a desperate scream as he went into the air. The world was spinning. Everything was just wrong.

Falling into the crack in the earth.

He disappeared into the darkness.

Hello everyone, I am Knotgrass and I use to write fanfics. I've started up again and I'm going to start with my fav mc youtubers. Gavin free, Bodil40, ImmortalHD, Rythian and Setosorcerer. This work will be edited by me so please point out any mistakes I make. This will also be really short and its mainly to work on characters, plot and how to lay things out. I haven't written stuff like this in a while so please be patient.

Also, to everyone who enjoyed How we Met; thank you so much. I'm glad that I wrote something that lots of people still enjoy especially from characters who I love and actually still write about (my own stuff though).
