It started when she was young, when she couldn't walk properly or ait up straight. Her parents had thought she was delayed, or just lazy but after extensive testing she found out about her disease. When she found out about it she had confined herself to a life which would put her in a wheelchair. Then she met Master Fu. At first she wanted to reject Ladybug but the Miraculous gave her a power she hadn't had since birth, to be free of pain. Her entire life was plagued with pain, at school she hid it and was labelled as a 'clumsy kid' and at home her mother had told her she was to rest and spend as little time as possible on her feet. It was constricting but she learned to live with it. Ladybug however gave her full control of her limbs; it gave her control of her life. Her Miraculous truly was a Miracle.

Then she met Chat Noir and as much as she found him charming she had to turn him down, her disease was getting worse and she couldn't let him truly fall for her, not when she was on borrowed time.

In her civilian life most people had found out about her condition, it was pretty obvious when at fourteen years old she was condemned to a wheelchair, most of her friends became overprotective which was only natural but what she couldn't cope with was Adrien Agreste. The poor boy had cried for days when he found out that Marinette wouldn't be able to walk and had proceeded to throw money at her, offering her access to the best surgeons and doctors in the world. At first she was offended but Nino had explained Adrien felt useless and thought that maybe offering access to the best care would help. Marinette felt her heart melt and had explained to him that all she wanted was for him to be there.

When she had turned sixteen she had been Ladybug for three years and although she loved her role as superhero she knew it was slowly coming to an end. Her Muscular Dystrophy was getting worse, she now had lost complete control of her legs and was slowly losing control of her arms. Tikki had been by her side throughout her deterioration and felt her heart break. Marinette faced every day with a smile but Tikki knew that she would soon lose the girl and it was then that she made a decision. She would tell Marinette to use the wish, before she could however Marinette stopped the Kwami.

"Tikki?" she said, the red Kwami looked up

"Yes?"

"I know who Chat Noir is" at this Tikki became startled.

"What? How?" she shrieked, Marinette laughed

"Believe it or not, I guessed it. He'd been coming to see me every night since the doctors had told me I wouldn't live past twenty. Chat told me he'd heard about what had happened and wanted to check on me but…. But the only person I had told about it was Adrien. It wasn't hard to figure it out." Tikki looked at her in shock, she never once figured that Marinette would find out about Plaggs keeper. Tikki knew she had to tell Marinette who Hawk Moth was now, she was the only one that could protect Adrien.

"Mari… you need to know something… Hawkmoth it's…. Chat Noirs father" at this Marinette paled, she hadn't expected that.

"How long had you known?" the teen asked. Tikki frowned

"A few days… Plagg… he found out and told me, I wanted to tell you but I can't say his name directly and if I could've described him it could've revealed Chat's identity which I couldn't do either. He wished to use the wish to bring back his wife. She used the Peacock miraculous which was damaged." Tikki hung her head.

"Tikki, spots on."

An hour later found Ladybug in Adrien's bedroom, she stood over the boy, her heart pounding. She loved him more than life itself and wanted nothing more than to make him happy. He had grieved for his mum and was beginning to open up about her and it was as she stared at his peaceful peace she knew what she must do.

Gabriel Agreste did not expect to be cornered in his office by Ladybug of all people. So, when he was he sat up, eying the superheroine.

"Ladybug, to what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?" he asked for as far as he was aware she was not on his schedule. The young women looked at him

"I know about Nooroo, I know why you want my miraculous and I know about your wife" at this declaration Gabriel paled.

"I have no idea what you're on about" he stated. He knew that he could take on Ladybug, he also knew that id Chat Noir turned up he wouldn't stand a chance. Ladybug for her part just walked up to his desk and placed the ring on his desk.

"You wish to bring your wife back do you not Mr Agreste?" she asked, her brow arching. He gulped and nodded. Ladybug sighed

"Then how about we make a deal, in precisely two hours a friend and I will be waiting atop the Eiffel Tower, you will hand over your Miraculous and at that time I will use the Miraculous to grant your wish." Gabriel stood from his desk

"How do I know you'll keep your end of the bargain?" he asked. Ladybug looked down at the floor

"I have nothing left to lose" and the she turned on her heel and left.

Just like she predicted Hawkmoth turned up, he looked between Ladybug and her friend. Alya Césaire.

"Miss Césaire I did not expect to see you here." He said, the girl glared at him

"Yes well I didn't expect my friend's dad to be a super-villain but here we are." Gabriel looked taken aback to being spoken to in such a callous manor. Ladybug coughed

"You must hand over your Miraculous how Hawkmoth" the villain nodded and turned himself back into Adrien's father but before he handed it over however he stopped.

"You promise me you will get my wife back?" he whispered. Ladybug nodded

"Yes, you have my word" she then handed Noroo to Alya, the teen stared at her idol.

"You must both promise to keep this a secret, Alya you remember what your next step is?" she nodded. Alya was surprised when Ladybug came to her department asking for help and was even more surprised when she revealed that Chat Noir what actually Adrien. It was just a shame that she still wouldn't reveal her own identity. Still, Alya could never deny Ladybug anything. As such she agreed to Ladybugs plan, as soon as the wish was made she would take the cat Miraculous back to Adrien and the Hawkmoth one back to Master Fu. When she nodded in agreement Ladybug stepped forward.

She placed the ring on her finger and summoned Plagg, when she did a bright white light began to elope her. Her eyes snapped open as the world around her began to tremble, below her Gabriel and Alya looked up, aghast. She looked like a god, a literal god. There were a few minutes where Ladybug seemed to converse with an unseen being before she said something audible.

"I, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, a.k.a Ladybug wish to trade my life for Emilie Agreste without upsetting the balance" and then the bright light was extinguished as did Ladybugs suit. She rose to the skies as Ladybug but fell down as Marinette Dupain-Cheng
