Chapter 1: The unknown caller.
It was mid July when we got a very disturbing call from an unknown person. the office was very busy of the day the call was received. i was sitting at my desk speaking with a few of my coworkers, hotchner, reid, and haley we was discussing a new plan that we came up with for an active older case. while we was working, our office phone started ringing. the calls are mostly made to our boss but this time it wasn't.
Hotchner was the first person to the phone, he answered and it was silent at first. hotchner put the phone on speaker and said "hello?" the unknown caller was whispering something but none of us was able to understand them. hotchner asked "can you speak up louder?" but the caller hung up after he asked that. we all sat there in confusion wondering what that person said. reid said "that was odd, why would someone call and not say anything?".
Haley responded with "maybe it was just a prank call" but hotchner had a weird feeling and said "someone wouldn't just call us and not need anything." we all sat there in silence for a few moments and haley and reid left the room to go chat to the boss about the situation. hotchner and i were still in my office. he said " maybe they will call back, that was strange" i agreed with what he said. but for some reason he seemed worried about it.
i thought to myself "why is this bothering him?" i asked him if he was alright. he sat up straight and said "of course everything is fine" there was a tone in his voice which told me that he wasn't okay. i got up from my seat and went behind him, i put my hands on his shoulders and rubbed them a little bit and said "you know you can talk to me about anything right?" he got up from his seat and turned around, he looked at me and brushed my hair out of my face and said in a soft voice " i promise i'm fine" i've always had a little thing for hotchner but i try not to let it get in the way of work.
after he said that the phone started ringing again, we snapped out of the moment and hotchner answered the phone and said "hello who's this?" the caller said "it's me again" we looked at each other and i whispered "is that the unknown caller?" hotchner nodded. he spoke into the phone again and said " are you in need of any help?" the caller said "i just need to ask a few questions my good man" hotchner looked at me and said in confusion "what questions do you need to ask?" the caller said in a crackly voice " my friends need answers to something"
i looked at hotchner with a concerned look on my face. he asked " may i have your friends names and phone numbers?" the caller went silent once again and then said softely "they don't have names or identities sir. they keep bothering me about it and it's getting to me." hotchner asked the caller "whats "it"?" the caller said "my friends are talking about "it" but i know they're talking about "her" i just can't figure which "her" they're talking about, i believe her name is miranda hayes?"
hotchner put the call on hold and we both looked at each other and said "that's the murdered victims name in the older case we're studying!" we both ran out of my office to try and find haley and reid. we went into our bosses office where they both were sitting. we told them about the caller and what they said. we was all in shock and went back to my office.
but the caller already hung up. we decided to continue the case tomorrow since our shifts were about to end. haley and reid went to their office to get ready to end their day and hotchner and i done the same. hotchner sat down in his chair and scratched his head and said "today was a rough day" i agreed with him once again. i could tell something was bothering him and has been all day.
i walked over to him ,but as i was he stood up and put his arms around my waist and picked me up. he sat me down on my desk and gently kissed my neck. i told him "you're a married man hotchner" he looked me in the eyes and smiled, he said "that's not gonna stop me from loving you" i pushed him away and told him it wasn't right that we was doing this.
he got aggravated at me but i love it when he gets that way. i grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and pulled him back to me and kissed him. i know it wasn't right but i couldn't help myself. he started to unbutton his shirt but i told him that this wasn't the place or ever gonna be the place to do intimate things. his phone started to ring and it was his wife, he quickly got up to answer it.
he told me that he needed to get home. hotchner quickly packed up his things and left my office. i knew that what we had was something fierce. our love was strong but we were just friends. i get confused on what we are but there is something about him that pulls me in and makes me addicted to his love.
i decided to pack up my things as well, so i did. as i was leaving i said my goodbyes to my fellow coworkers. while i was walking to my vehicle i saw hotchner getting in his car. he looked at me and smiled, just before he shut his door. i got into my vehicle and sat there thinking of what a heartbreak i'm going to go through.
