Hello everyone! My name is Lady, and this is a fan fiction I've been wanting to read for a while. I thought of this concept a couple weeks ago and since I couldn't find any existing stories about it, I decided to write my own
I hope you enjoy, and please review with any constructive criticism or questions you may have!
Summery: Once Hades had told Nico that he wished Nico would have a happier life than most children of Hades. Now that they were in a time of peace, Hades felt the time was right to give Nico a gift that would help him be the exception.
Pairings: Eventual Solangelo, minor Percabeth, probably minor other relationships as well.
Disclaimer: As I am posting this story on a website solely dedicated to fan fiction, it would be safe to assume that I don't own this world.
Also- this contains slash. You have been warned.
Chapter 1 - The Search
It was a loud knocking that woke Nico up begrudgingly from his sleep. He had been perfectly comfortable lying in his bed before. Not wanted to wake up he burrowed back into the covers, thinking it was his imagination.
The knocking sounded again. Three hits against the wooded door of Cabin 13 the echoed mercilessly against the air. Unable to trick himself into thinking the sound was a figment of his sleep-clouded brain Nico rolled out of bed. He ran his fingers through his hair as he walked over to the door at the front of the cabin to make sure it didn't look too tangled.
Nico opened the door and the first thing that registered in his mind was the fact that it was still dark. The second thing he noticed was the worried yet just as sleep ridded as himself face of Percy Jackson.
Percy was dressed as if he had just woken up himself, and had been thrown out of his cabin without time to properly fix his appearance. His shirt was on backwards and the left side of his hair was matted against his head in a way that, if he hadn't been angry at the fact that he had been woken up at gods knows how early, would be comical.
"Do you know what hour it is?" Nico ground out looking up at Percy.
Percy let out what must have been an exasperated sigh and cast a quick glance upwards before settling his eyes on Nico, "Trust me, I know. You think I want to be up right now? Something happened. I think something big."
Nico glanced past Percy to look at the camp. Several of the cabins had their lights on and he could make out the shapes of people moving around.
"What do I have to do with it?" Nico asked
"Well, nobody's quite sure what's happening, but Chiron knocked came to me a bit ago and told me to round up all the counselors," Percy said glancing back every couple of seconds.
Nico sighed and leaned back into his cabin, "Give me a second to grab a pair of shoes and I'll be right with you."
Percy nodded slightly and cast another glance back, "Chiron wants us all to meet at the edge of the forest. I'll see you there alright?"
After Nico nodded his head to confirm Percy ran off the porch and towards an indistinguishable figure standing closer to the forest.
He turned around while shutting the door, scanning Cabin 13 for his pair of trainers that he had carelessly kicked off the night before. Spotting them Nico slowly walked over to them while rubbing sleep out of his eyes. He glanced briefly at the clock on his night stand to see that it was just passed three in the morning. Whatever happened must have been pretty important for Chiron to want all the counselors awake at that hour.
After Nico had pulled on his shoes he took one quick glance around his cabin, then made for the door. Before leaving he made sure to grab his stygian iron sword that was leaning on the wall near the exit.
Walking over to the edge of the forest Nico could hear the distant hum of crickets, which just made Nico long for his bed even more. It had been two weeks since the last war had ended and yet Nico felt that he still had a lot of sleep left to catch up on.
When he finally reached the edge Nico gravitated towards the small gathering of people. He recognized a few faces in the crowd, but many had their backs turned from him, facing the forest.
Getting closer to the person closest to him Nico quietly asked, "Any idea what's going on here?"
The man turned to face Nico, and with a shock of butterflies in his stomach Nico realized that he was talking to none other than Will Solace, "Nope, I don't think anybody knows."
Nico nodded in response, trying to keep his blush down, thanking the gods that it was dark outside right then. He opened his mouth to speak again, but just as he started to make a sound the hooves of Chiron could be heard coming towards them.
Everybody turned to look at him. Some made exclamations, claiming to know what was going on, but most stayed silent, still too far asleep to register much.
"Counselors, I apologize for awaking you at such hour, but as I'm sure you could deduce yourselves, something big has happened," Chiron began," About half and hour ago I was woken up by a pair of dryads who were almost in a panic. They said that something had happened in the forest. They were talking too fast for me to fully comprehend, but I caught glimpses of what they were trying to portray.
Now, while I myself am not quite sure what has happened, the words I caught from them were 'body', 'girl', and 'breathing'."
A murmur broke out across the group and Nico and Will shared a worried glance. Ever since the days Nico had spent in the infirmary him and Will had grown close. He was the first real friend that Nico had made all on his own, and because of that he felt constantly nervous around him. Usually there was a friend or acquaintance that could act as a buffer between him and whoever he was talking to, but with Will, it was all him.
That reason alone was why Will made skeletal butterflies go up in Nico's stomach whenever he was around. No other reason whatsoever.
Chiron called attention back to him, "Now I want all of you to split off into pairs and search for this girl. I myself will be going in as well, so if you find anything just find me." Chiron took one last glance around before trotting into the forest himself.
All around Nico people began to pair off. Out of the corner of his eye he could see Percy and Annabeth share a small high five before heading off into the forest hand in hand.
Nico shifted around awkwardly for a moment before before he felt a hand on his shoulder. Looking up he could see the face of Will looking down on him. "Wanna be my buddy?"
"Uh, sure," Nico replied, trying to focus on things other than the fact that Will still had his hand on his shoulder, or the fact that his hand felt really right there.
"Great," Will smiled brightly and before Nico could protest, took Nico's hand and started off into the forest.
Once they were separated from the rest of the group Nico and Will started looking around. Will still hadn't let go of Nico's hand and Nico couldn't find the strength in himself to bring it up. It probably meant nothing anyways. Will was a very affectionate person and it wasn't like this was the first time he had grabbed his hand.
"Hey," Will stopped walking and turned to face Nico, "Can you sense anything?"
"You think I can… just sense where everybody is at any given time?" Nico asked.
Will blushed and raised his free hand to rub the back of his neck, "Well no, but if she is dead would you be able to feel it.?
Nico thought for a second and tried to see if he was feeling anything wrong. "I don't fell anything. I don't think she's dead though, Chiron said the dryads mentioned breathing."
Will nodded, "Let's continue shall we then?" He asked with a smirk. Trying to ignore his blush again Nico followed Will further into the forest.
They'd been walking for about half an hour, just enjoying the silent companion of each other when Will spoke up, "I think I see something."
"Where?"
"Over- there! It looks like there's a commotion."
The pair made their way to the spot the Will had seen. They came across a large gathering of Dryads all talking among themselves.
Will let go of Nico's hand and walked up to the Dryad closest to him. "Um, excuse me ma'am, what's going on?"
"Oh, oh well I was sleeping I was, and then my good friend Aspen knocked on my door," she spoke quickly, "She said that Rowan had found a person. A girl. We didn't think she was breathing at first but then, well… she was!"
Nico didn't know how much longer of this he could take, "So where is she? The girl?"
The Dryad shot him a dirty look before turning back to Will, "She's at the center of them. None of us know what to do with her. She's still sleeping, see?"
Will nodded. He turned back to Nico, grabbed his hand, and together they pushed their way to the center of the group.
Once Nico caught the first glimpse of the girl he gasped. She was someone who, for the last four years, had done nothing but torment his mind.
He felt his knees give out and with a cry, tied to cling on to Will for more support.
"Hey, easy, easy there," Will said, trying to keep Nico up, "Do you know who she is?"
Nico's throat felt dry when he tried to swallow, "It's not possible. It's not pos-," he took a deep breath and tried to steady his footing, "I'm not sure how, but she looks almost exactly as my sister."
Will looked at him strangely, "But she doesn't look anything like Hazel."
"No, not her. My other sister," Nico took another breathe in, "Bianca."
And that is my first chapter! Please note that this is my first story I've written, so please don't come for me too brutally.
Also, I don't know exactly where this is going to go, so if you have any ideas feel free to pm me, or leave it in the reviews and I promise I'll take it into consideration!
Have a great day,
Sincerely, OdelaidetheGrey "Lady"
