Here it is everyone, the moment of truth. Sorry if I posted it a little too late. Wow 214 views on my sneak peak, I must be better than I thought!
Run! That was the only thought coursing through my head. Me, 15 year old Dewey Duck, Running as if my life depends on it.
My feet hit the hard wet concrete with a loud splash every time I slam my foot down. My legs are aching so much that I feel like they will give at any second. I feel like a dog in the summertime I'm panting so hard. Soon I feel as if my legs are going to buckle, and I start to fall down onto my hands and knees and just puck up stomach acid and coughing up my lungs.
The thing about me is that even though I'm the best player on both the basketball and volleyball teams, I have absolutely no endurance when it comes down to running. And suddenly, I trip. It only takes a split second to see my foot wedged in a crack, but it was wasted because I had no time to prepare for the impact, but miraculously I managed to land safely on the ground only taking damage to my knee.
After further inspection it seemed my knee was not rely that bud, just scraped a lot, No blood. After checking my knee one more time I picked myself up and started up running again.
Finally I made it up the stairs and raced through the doors and ran into my classroom.
"Mr. Duck!" Shouted Quakfaster. "You are one of the worst students I have ever had. Shape up or ill ship you out to detention for the rest of the year!"
"Oh-boy, Dewey's in trouble." Said a duck wearing a green hoodie sitting in the back of the class.
"Shut up Louie. Besides you already have it for the next two years plus summer school." I Retorted.
"Guys, you act like you hate school." Said a duck wearing a red hat and shirt.
"Well duh huey. The only good part about school is the sports." I Replied.
"Quiet down and no talking, unless you want detention." Barked Quakfaster
"Sorry Ms. Q." I said and then in a much quieter tone "Meet me at the boy's bathroom at lunch I've got something important to tell you guys."
"You what!" screamed Louie.
"Shhh, quiet down." I whispered, "You don't want the whole school knowing about it."
"Ohh yes I do. It would completely blow up. Seriously though why would you like Webby?" Louie replied.
"According to the junior woodchuck guide book 'Love is a mysterious force that could happen spur of the moment or eventually be created from a strong bond or friendship.' Actually that makes allot of sense. You and Webby have been great friends for almost 5 years now." Noted Huey.
"Seriously Louie, don't tell anyone. Especially Webby." I ordered.
"All right, fine." Replied Louie, "But why are you telling us this?"
"Be-because I want to tell her this but I don't exactly know… How." I explained. "Any ideas?"
At this Huey began to rapidly flip pages in his book and after finding what he was looking for said. "Well the junior woodchuck guidebook says that when attempting to find a-"
"Nurp." I cut in. "Not going to do anything simple and sweet. Not the way I Dewey things. I need something big and Dewtastic!"
"Well I think I have a 'Dewtastic' idea. Replied Louie, "It involves fireworks, a picnic, and the sun."
"Ooooh!" I said, hooked on the idea. "So how exactly are we going to dewey this?"
"Yes. I believe Webby would greatly appreciate that." Said Violet Sabrewing.
"Great, thanks." I said, thanking her, "Now if you don't mind I got to go talk to Lena."
What exactly is going on. Well it started with Louie's awesome Idea, and then we came up with how exactly we were going to do it. You know just me and Webby, and when the fireworks will go off, and when the sun rises and all that stuff. So now I'm heading over to Violet's and Lena's to explain what they have to do.
When I get to Lena's little auditorium I start explaining to her what's going on and what she needs to do. When I'm all finished she says.
"So you want to propose to pink about how you're super deeply in love. And you're having a picnic with fireworks to try and make it work?" Lena asked skeptically.
"Yeah." I replied.
"And you want me and Vi to come and then pretend that we need to do something Webby doesn't like." Lena continued
"Yes?" I said. Now I was getting nervous, did she think it wouldn't work, or maybe she thought Webby was to good for me, if she didn't go along with this she could end up ruining it for me!
I was so nervous I didn't even realize that Lena was staring down at me with this weird expression on her face, until she kicked me right in the soft spot.
"Holy shit Dewey, get a hold of yourself!" screamed Lena as she shook me. "you need to give yourself a break. Of course I will help you. Webby will love this, so don't stress it."
"Thanks Lena." I said. "I needed that, well not that specifically but something like it." I thanked.
"Great." Said Lena. "Now get going or you'll be late!"
"Don't you think it's a little early for a picnic" Asked Webby Vanderquak.
"Nurp!" I replied. I was filled with so much anxiety I was trying so hard not to burst.
At about 5 minutes till "zero hour" Lena got up and said that she had left something back at her place that she needed.
"You want to come with me to get it Vi?" she asked.
"Yes, I believe I will come." Violet replied
After they had left Huey asked Louie to come with him to work on his Junior Woodchuck skills. Until finally, the moment came.
"Do you want to know what I like the most about this park?" I asked Webby
"No, What?" She asked
"The sunrise!" I replied just as the sun started to rise. Webby gasped in surprise. It was probably one of the most beautiful things she had ever seen.
"Isn't it beautiful?" I asked.
"Yes, it's so beautiful!" she replied.
"Well. That's how I feel about you." I said, a little nervous.
Webby looked over at me with a face of mixed emotions. "You what?" she asked in a little voice, I could tell she was trying not to blush but she wasn't real doing that good of a job.
"Webby." I said "We have known each other for almost 4 years and, well. I think now is the best time to ask you this. Webby, will you be my girlfriend.
Webby had a look on her face of pure happiness. She looked like she was going to burst.
"Yes!" she cried and suddenly I felt her pulling me in for a kiss. And at that moment, I could hear dozens of fireworks going of simultaneously.
After we were done kissing me and webby sat down on the grass to enjoy the fireworks. After they were done Lena, Violet, Huey, and Louie came back over.
"So?" asked Louie. "Are you two a couple now?"
"Yes!" Webby and I said at the same time. And at this everyone cheered in celebration. But as we were walking back I noticed a little shard of Safire, lying on the ground
Curiously I picked it up and put it in my pocket. Later on I regretted doing that and would have given up anything to not have…
That was one heak of a first chapter in my opinion. I will be posting a new chapter about every four days so stay tuned in
