A/N: This is the first story to my Quaratine series! Everyday for a while, probably till Quarantine is over, I'll be doing little drabbles. They can be anything at all, involving the cars or planes characters. Feel free to leave suggestions for prompts in the comments (might need some lol). I'll be posting a new Oneshot everyday!!
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the recognizable characters, Disney/Pixar does!
It was well past eleven when it happened.
'It' being Lightning's sudden explosion, squealing and prancing and worrying, ears pricked towards something off in the distance. Tense and seemed ready to run away or charge at any moment. Talia looked down the road, but didn't see anything.
Lightning wasn't the only one staring. Finn and Holley were staring intently down the road as well, right where Lightning was looking. Sally was watching Lightning, but didn't seem to see anything.
Ethan stood up from where he had been sitting against a post, walking over to Finn. "What's wrong, buddy?"
Finn's ear swiveled backwards for a second, then pricked forward again. Doc was looking down the road as well, and Talia was about to ask if he saw anything when he shook his head. "I dunno what's got them so worked up."
"Me neither," Talia looked back down the street again. "Can horses see ghosts?"
"There have been rumors that young horses can see things that we can't," Doc spoke almost hesitantly, looking back down the road, "Lightning's young and hot, if there is a ghost he'd be able to see it. Finn and Holley are young and hot as well, so they'd be able to see it as well."
"Even though their trained to ignore that stuff?"
Ethan shook his head a bit, glancing at Finn and Holley again. "They're trained you detect things that could potentially be harmful, and ignore the things that are harmless. Ghosts, as far as I've heard, can be as harmful as they can be harmless."
The three horses stared down the road for quite a while, both Finn and Lightning blowing loudly through their nostrils multiple times. Holley kept fidgeting, looking as if she wanted to turn and run or - just like Lightning - charge forward.
Eventually, the three calmed. Finn dropped his head first, blowing softly at the ground, Holley looking towards Ethan and Samantha. Lightning relaxed, looking back at Talia. He walked over to her, putting his head down so she could pet his star.
"What was that about? Hm?" She rubbed his star, smiling, and then walking towards the barn. "I think it's time to go to bed, yes?"
Lightning and the other horses followed her, while everyone else went to their homes for the night.
A/N: Don't much care for the ending, but here's the first chapter! I liked the idea of Lightning being able to sense ghosts and paranormal stuff, while other breeds or older horses might not be able to.
What should I do for tomorrow's chapter? Any ideas?
