Harry and Ginny apparated to Hogwarts so they could watch the Sorting. McGonagall had allowed Harry to visit so he could watch. The couple was alone in the Great Hall, except for a few professors preparing for the start of the term. Many of them stopped to chat with one of them before running off to complete preparations for their classes. Finally, the Hogwarts Express arrived and the students began to fill the house tables. Harry and Ginny found James, Albus, and Lily talking to each other. Soon after everyone had arrived, McGonagall commenced the Sorting. When the list got to the Ps, Ginny squeezed Harry's hand under the table.

"Potter, Albus"

Albus trudged up to the stool and took the hat from the Headmistress. After about five seconds, the hat shouted, "Gryffindor".

Everyone but the Gryffindors applauded, it seemed just as loudly as they had when Harry was Sorted.

"Potter, James", said McGonagall, looking like she was going to have a heart attack. She threw a look at Harry, who just shrugged

James ran up to the stool and took the hat. No longer had it touched his head, it yelled "Gryffindor".

Everyone again applauded as James ran to sit next to his brother and cousins.

"Potter, Lily"

Lily walked up to the stool, took the hat from McGonagall, and put it on her head. 30 seconds later, the hat spoke to McGonagall, who walked over to talk to Harry and Ginny.
"What is it Minerva?", asked Ginny

"Lily appears to be an even balance of a Gryffindor and a Ravenclaw"

"Let her go to whichever house she wants to be in", said Harry

"Very well"

McGonagall walked back to Lily and told her she could choose between Gryffindor or Ravenclaw.

Inside Lily's head

"I get to choose which house I'm in?", she thought

"I want to be a Gryffindor with all of my cousins and my brothers, but I could be the first Potter or Weasley to not be a Gryffindor"
"I don't know, there's reasons why I want to go to both houses"

"You know what, family is more important than anything, so Gryffindor".

She told the hat of her decision and heard the hat yell it to the hall

The Gryffindors applauded louder than they did for her brothers. She ran over so she could sit with Albus, James, Victorie, and her other cousins. They clapped her on the back and told her she'd made the right decision. She just nodded and turned her attention to the Sorting. When the last student, Vincent Blaise went to Slytherin, the feast began. She'd never seen so much food in one place. Not even her grandmum could make this much food. Her parents sat down next to them and started taking and eating. After a while, James and Harry shared a smirk and did a spell on the Slytherins. Instantly their robes and hair turned red and gold. Harry used another spell to make the words I suck, Gryffindors rule appear on their robes. The Gryffindors roared with laughter and applauded. Even the Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws laughed until they couldn't. the Slytherins sat there trying to remove the spell.

"Harry, James, you undo it or I will Bat-Bogey Hex you both."
"Nope", they said at the same time

Ginny raised her wand, but she didn't hex them. After the feast, the students went to their dorms. After a few quick good-byes, Harry and Ginny Apparated back to their house.
