"Dr. Wengling, DR. Wengling!"

"Yes Dr. Laylan?" Replied Dr. Wengling, "What could possibly be worth this call at the time it is now? I'm aware that you're-"

"Dr. Wengling, we've had a breakthrough! The DNA parsing has finally made a proper RNA sequencing and mitosis process! We can finally proceed with project black knight!"

"That is incredible news! I will attempt to catch the soonest possible flight to arrive on site. For when I arrive, I would like full reports on the process by which you arrived at the conclusion for the proper parsing. Oh, also, do try to not kill the current subject before I arrive; the progress we have made with the sentience enhancer is astonishing."

~ 15 hours later

Dr. Wengling was walking away from his car when he saw the presence of armed guards, something that was unusual for a research plant trying to draw as little attention as possible.

"What is the meaning of this?" asked Dr. Wengling, "I would like to know why we have armed security now of all times, when the project is the most secure it has been for some time."

The guard looked rather uncomfortable, like he was commanded to either hide something or had to use the bathroom. Dr. Wengling decided on the former, given the present situation.

"I'm sorry sir, this site has been locked down by order of the President of the United States of America. If you have any questions, please speak with the security director in the north tent."

Dr. Wengling was becoming agitated. Why now of all times? They had just had a breakthrough in the project and could finally produce some results for him. Just when he was about to start walking towards the north tent, wherever that could be, someone he did not recognize ran over to him, making a massive racket.

"Dr. Wengling! I'm so glad to finally meet you! It's an honor, really. I can't believe that I get to assume command of such an amazing project! My name is-"

"I'm sorry," said Dr. Wengling, "my age is known to be rather advanced and I may have misheard you. Did you just say you are assuming command of MY project? MY PROJECT?! The project on which I have been working for THIRTY YEARS and LOST MY WIFE BECAUSE OF?!" His voice continued to rise to a near scream, "I have a CONTRACT! That contract states that I am to be given full command of this project until either I DIE, or decide to resign!"

"I am truly sorry Dr. Wengling," replied the stranger, "but I regret to inform you that there was a clause that you apparently overlooked in your contract. In your contract, it states that if you are determined to be no longer intelectually fit to direct this program, your immediate termination is allowed, and, in fact, required. And as I was saying before, my name is Dr. James Locke."

Dr. Locke then walked away with his nose in the air, seeming to be rather proud of his victory over the fuming elder scientist. However, what he did not see was the seething light of revenge burning in Dr. Wengling's eyes. Dr. Wengling had decided that if he was not allowed to assume ownership of the project, he would destroy all of the work he had succeeded in, so that nobody else could steal such a beautiful work from him.

Walking briskly into the building under the guise of obtaining his last possessions inside his office, he knew he had to work quickly. He immediately logged in, and accessed the control system for the project's containment cells. He intentionally fed far too much power into the containment systems in order to cause a meltdown, hopefully destroying the projects.

"Containment breach. Containment Breach." The computer systems and alarms began blaring to warn everyone inside the facility, but it was already too late. The containment systems and power system began to overload. Unfortunately, it overloaded even more than Dr. Wengling had anticipated, causing a full meltdown of the plant. A cascading failure of security systems caused a catastrophic amount of power to build up inside the capacitors that were meant for power outages, and, with a great explosion and a thunderous BOOM, the entire science facility vanished in a blinding flash of fire.
