The twenty-fourth of July found Konohagakure village rising to babble brooks, singing birds and prosperous crop. It seemed the whole world was in tandem; the rustling of tree leaves and the mutterings of early risers forming a pleasant aura to wake up to. The sun rose from behind rolling green hills, the horizon: rich with green and trees swaying gently against their backdrop of orange & purple.
The village proper, now filling with the barks of dogs and the shouts of people, surrounded what was known as the Daimyo tower. The tower was a large establishment of fine craftsmanship, an eye-catching red in color with wooden planks for its gabled roof. It was virtually impossible to miss the building at any spot in Konoha, unless one was angled in such a way a very large tree blocked his view. But even then, such trees did not grow in the village as the Daimyo Tower was incomprehensively large.
Within the tower many men and women hustled about, having affairs to attend to and families to provide for. But if one were to ascend the winding stairs far enough, the most vacant hallway had at the end a large set of double doors. Its bulk was the width of the corridor and the height of the ceiling. This room was the Daimyo's sleeping chambers.
"My Lord?" A raven-haired woman with evenly cut hair, purple accented eyes and a thin purple belt around the waist of her long white dress hesitantly entered the room. Her brown eyes were cautiously surveying the room. "Rising hour has come."
She was met with silence for a mere moment until low chuckling sounded from one of the rooms eerily dark corners. "Mizumi-chan.." The voice was smooth and husky with drowsiness. "My sweet, ignorant Mizumi.."
Mizumi briefly rolled her eyes, glad the lord couldn't see her with his back turned.
"The other Daimyo's are either on their way or entering the gates." She told him as she nonchalantly drew back the curtains. "So far only Iwa's Lord has arrived."
As soon as Mizumi pulled open the curtain opposite her lords depressingly dark corner, he hissed, hunching over in the fetal position. She looked apathetically at him.
"Light! It burns! Mizumi, you monster!"
The shadows, now expelled, revealed a grown man sitting on the floor, wrapped in a cocoon of blankets. In his hands were a pad of papers and a charcoal pencil. The remainder of his supplies were held together in a neat bundle by a ribbon at his feet and a brass ink well had toppled, spilling ink on the floor.
The man's face was slightly round, not distinctly male or female. He didn't look quite like an adult either, although he was. His skin was pale and under his eyes were circles of black. His monochromatic eyes stared unseeingly up at her, silver bangs falling over his forehead.
"You can give up now," Mizumi said, taking up a pillow and throwing it back on the bed. "I know you are not having a seizure."
The man's tongue clicked against his teeth, eyes fluttering closed before he buried his face in his hands. "Dang. I was hoping it'd work that time."
Mizumi scoffed quietly. She walked over to the bundle on the floor and yanked the hood off of the man's head. "Kakashi, you baka. You are not pranking your way out of this again."
"It never hurts to try."
"This meeting has been postponed four times. Four times in the past six months. If you fake cardiac arrest, anaphylactic shock, or any other medical condition again I'll give you a real reason to go to the hospital."
Kakashi whined. "Please do, Mizumi my darling."
Mizumi's brow twitched in irritation. "Take that eyeshadow off your face and clean up the mess you made." She stood up, her voice taking on a deep, menacing sound. "Don't test my patience."
Seeing the dark aura radiating off of the woman, Kakashi hurriedly threw off his blankets and dashed to the washroom. It was mere seconds before closing the door behind him that he heard Mizumi shout:
"Also, Iruka-San will be accompanying his Lord today!"
Kakashi stopped dead in his tracks. At first, it seemed the shadow on his face was generated by fear. A perverse grin then came across his face, red and black eyes widening. He looked like a madman.
"Perfect.." He laughed quietly, putting a thin finger to his unclothed lip. "Did you inform the Kitsune siblings?"
Mizumi smirked. "Of course, they are already on it. We know what to do."
...
"Naruto!"
The blond boy jumped nearly a foot into the air, the call of his name laced with venom and the promise of pain. A lot of it.
"Hah! Baa-Chan.." Naruto shuffled nervously under the scrutinizing glare of Tsunade Senju. The blonde woman stood straight, adjusting her glasses on the bridge of her nose with her right hand while the left was positioned underneath her ample bosom. She was clad in black heels, a dark blazer and button-up, a pencil skirt and black stockings.
"I hope you aren't doing what I think you are doing.." She hissed. "Are you?"
His laughter came forced. "What? Pssh..me? No!" His next words came rushed. "What do you think I'm doing?"
She began to stalk toward him. "I think you're planning something that'll cost us thousands." Tsunade walked around him, trying to take a peek at what he was hiding behind his back. Naruto kept turning around.
"You know how important this meeting is to the Fire Nation and unless you want to be mercilessly maimed, I suggest you be on your best behavior."
She stopped walking and Naruto stopped spinning. Suddenly, she reached out, yelling: "Ahah! Got you now you little brat!"
Tsunade tackled Naruto to the floor and the rest of the servants in the dining hall simply ignored their antics.
When Tsunade, finally, had Naruto's face pressed against the floor, his arms behind his back at an uncomfortable angle, she growled.
He had nothing in his hands, just a sticky note on his palm with a drawn chibi Naruto-lookalike sticking his tongue out at her. It read:
Well, you thought wrong.
Tsunade growled, ripped the note off and turned it to ash in her palm. Naruto begged for mercy but his cries fell upon deaf, steam-filled ears.
"Those brats!"
...
"Hurry!"
"I'm hurrying!"
Nao grit her teeth as she placed the last of the seals upon seals upon seals on the ceiling. First was the tripwire seal, then the storage seal, then the-
Well, there were a lot of seals.
Nao jumped off the wall, landing gracefully on her feet. She was the oldest of three children, all triplets. Her prowess in fuinjutsu had earned her a position under Jiraiya of the sennin, who was her current mentor.
With her was the second eldest, Kyuubi, who was fiddling with the legs of a chair.
"You are telling me to hurry?" She scoffed. "Slowpoke."
Kyuubi rolled his eyes. His tongue was peeking out slightly from between his lips as he uses a screwdriver to loosen the legs. "I had to start over, yeah!" He defended. "I forgot the righty tighty, lefty loosey rule."
"Baby."
"Infant."
"Newborn!"
Nao paused. Squinting thoughtfully, she said with her head cocked, "aren't those all synonymous with each other?"
"How should I know?" Kyuubi huffed. "Done, yeah."
Nao whooped, but she was suddenly cut off by a loud trumpet. It sounded throughout the whole tower, bouncing against the walls and causing the two to wince.
"Great, we're late. We are so dead."
Kyuubi looked at Nao strangely. "Not like we won't be killed for doing this, yeah. Again. For the third time."
Nao shrugged. "You'd think they'd learn not to visit us anymore."
"Humans are weird."
"Yeah, but I like them."
...
"Kakashi!" Mizumi sprinted to keep up with her Lord.
He raised a brow but continued walking. The Hatake was clad in a red vest with buttons, under that a white shirt with sleeves that covered his fingers. He wore white pants and black shinobi boots despite not being shinobi.
Anymore, that is.
Mizumi tugged on his hair to keep him from moving any further. She then grabbed a sheet of toilet paper from his pants. The trail behind him was long and the rest of the roll was probably all the way back in his chambers.
Mizumi tossed the tissue. "Inattentive monkey."
Kakashi shrugged. "I like chimpanzees." He seemed to think to himself for a moment before saying, "but I like humans more."
Mizumi gave him an odd look. "What's the difference? Now get a move on! The horn has been blown already."
Kakashi checked his imaginary watch. "But I'm not an hour late." Pause. "Yet."
Mizumi kicked him in the ass.
...
Tsunade stood by the opening of the tower, opposite the gates that closed it off from the rest of society. She tapped her foot impatiently, a tick mark evident on her forehead. Beside her was a whimpering Naruto who was nursing throbbing injuries of varying sizes on his head.
"Where are they?" She whispered to herself worriedly.
...
Iruka Umino peered out the window of the carriage, gaping in awe at the sheer magnificence of the Fire lords tower - which was more like a castle.
He remembered the courtyard had fountains and many many maids. The details weren't too vivid, since the last time he'd been here he was very young.
His Lord chuckled. "Is the earth tower not enough for you, Iruka-Kun?"
Iruka sputtered, waving his hands as if swatting away any misconceptions. "N-no my Lord!" His eyes dazzled with admiration as the panic melted away upon seeing the tower again. "The design is just.. so unique."
"As is the man who lives there."
Iruka raised an inquisitive brow but didn't ask.
...
The greeting had gone off without a hitch, at least, in Kakashi's perspective.
As expected, paint, glue, and feathers were dumped upon the Daimyo's and their escorts as they passed through the entrance of the tower. One Daimyo excused herself to make herself presentable once again, while the others were simply shameless.
"She's new." Said the Lord of the earth nation, Sakumo who was named after his father. He had bottle-green eyes and white hair, a perfectly round beauty mark on his cheek. "She wasn't expecting that."
"I feel for her." The Lord of lightning kicked back in his seat. He was, by far, the most nonchalant of them all excluding Kakashi. His name was Seguro; a man of rich dark brown hair and black eyes. He was also the tallest. "However, at some point you just lose any semblance of shame and/or decency."
"Yes, but your tricks are growing old." A man with long black hair stated and pushed his glasses far up his nose. His piercing red eyes bore into Kakashi's mismatched ones. "I think it is time to stop this whole mess."
Kakashi smirked, cushioned his face with his palm and crossed his legs cheekily. His eyes glared back. "Mah mah, stiff as always, Kou."
Said man tched and looked away.
Kakashi continued staring across the large meeting table where, beside Sakumo, sat a bemused brunette. Iruka shuddered under his glare.
"You know what I want." Kakashi grinned his perverse grin. "This could all go along much smoother if you just gave it to me, brother."
Sakumo smiled at him gently, his eyes closed but in a menacing manner. He refused.
It was at that moment that Kakashi's chair gave out from under him & a bunch of tar, glitter and feathers came from the ceiling. He landed on the floor in a heap of sticky, gooey, arts n craft supplies.
The triplets, Naruto, Kyuubi, and Nao winced as they witnessed the humiliating fall of their leader.
Naruto glared at his siblings.
"Nasty." Kyuubi whistles. "Wrong chair, yeah. Nostalgic, though."
"Or not." Nao sighed and banged her head against the wall. She just hoped she and her brothers could outrun an infuriated Tsunade.
