Am I Ready

Authors Note: These are not my characters. Just having some fun. Let me know what you think. Please tell me any questions you have. This will allow me to answer them in the next chapter. I did things a little different and bent time a bit as well. This will all be explained in future chapters.

As Always Happy Reading.

The music drifting down the hall was my alarm clock. Dad has been playing piano to wake me up since I was little. I rolled exposing my shoulder to the chill fall morning air. I squeezed the blanket closer to me, trying to suck the last bit of warmth from it.

Dad changed the song. Dang. I must be running out of time. Fully committed I rolled out of bed, my feet touching the warm floor. Walking towards the bathroom with my eyes still closed. I memorized this short walk. This allowed me to pretend like I was able to have another moment to sleep.

Warmth rushes over my body. Excitement courses through me. I needed this shower to fully prepare for today. I get to go to my first day of public highschool. After pleading all summer my family finally supported my decision to go to public highschool. I still look like a 15 year old. We held off on me going to high school to make sure I could control my thirst.

At that thought my throat gave a slight burn. Oh no. We went hunting last night. I don't need more blood. Just the thought of fresh blood is always good. I think I have a pack of refined blood from the butcher.

Shaking that thought out of my head I rinsed the conditioner from my hair. Drying myself with a towel I wrapped my robe around myself. Looking in the mirror I paused. My face held a bunch of hope and excitement. It is the same expression I used to have when we would go to the water park as a child. I am so ready for this next step.

Walking back into my room I was ready to get dressed in the outfit that the Aunties helped me pick out last night. A cute button blouse and short skirt with boots.

"Mom seriously" I yell into the hallway. We had agreed that I would be allowed to pick out my own outfit for the first day of highschool.

Yet, I walked back into my room draped in my robe to see my outfit choice had been changed. Instead of the short skirt there was a pair of jeans.

"That skirt is too short for you" Dad called back still playing my get ready song.

"Where did you put it?" I yelled back.

"You do not have time to sniff it out" Dad commented. I could hear the slight relief in his tone. He must have snatched it when I was in the shower.

I let my foot slam down one time. It was childish to stomp my feet. I knew the skirt would have been a fight to get out the door. I knew this. Aunty Rose warned me. Aunty Alice told me to hide the skirt if I wanted to wear it.

I grabbed the jeans dad had replaced my skirt with and tossed them into the hamper. Walking into my walk-in closet I ran to the back. The corner drawer was jam packed with non dad approved clothing. Empty. Fuck! I bit my lip from screaming. Grabbing a pair of tight jeans and a skin tight thin t-shirt. I quickly got dressed. Pulling my van sneakers.

Looking into my mirror my hair had dried into a beautiful curly wave. I put some mascara on my lashes. This was a trick Aunty Alice had told me so that humans will assume I am so beautiful because I have makeup on if they see I have mascara on. Swiping a touch of a deep red lipstick on I looked at my outfit in the mirror.

I looked a bit more sexy than I normally dress. Not as preppy as my outfit I planned with my aunties. Though not too over the top either. Looking just like if I was going to go out motorcycling with my uncles. I grabbed a zip up hoodie, tossed it on and snapped a picture of my outfit.

Walking to the kitchen mom placed a waffle on my plate. "You look cute. I like that hoodie on you" Mom commented.

"Thanks" I responded. Digging into the waffles and eggs that mom placed before me.

"I know your dad took the skirt. I will talk to him." Mom whispered.

"Not just the skirt, the entire drawer" I told her.

"Oh well. We will need to pick a better hiding place next time" Mom said. We have been doing this for years. It was no use fighting with Dad. Not when we could sneak things instead.

I finished my breakfast and sighed. It is still slightly uncomfortable to have a lot of food on my stomach. Mom added a little bit each day, just so my stomach would learn to take full portions of human food.

"Your hair is so easy for you" Mom commented.

"Yeah. Well it wasn't always. Remember when I demanded that my hair be braided every day?" I asked.

"I do remember that. I also remember your Aunties researching new braids as you slept. I think you had a different braid each day." Mom smiled.

"Do you think I am ready for today?" I asked with my small voice.

Mom walked over to me. Picked me up off my chair like I weighed nothing. Wrapping me into a huge bear hug.

"Honey we would not have moved back to Forks if we did not think you could handle this." Mom kissed the top of my head as she spoke.

I took a deep breath. She was right.

"Do you want us to drop you off at school?" Dad asked. He wrapped his arms around both mom and I.

"So I can be the new girl who gets dropped off by her parents? Thank you but no thank you." I told them.

"That is fine. Mom and I have a lot of work to do on the house." Dad commented.

I laughed. The house we moved into or should I say back into is the same house dad lived in when he met mom. The best part is that it has enough bedrooms for the entire family when they want to come visit.

Mom and Dad moved me into what was once dad's old room. Dad admitted that I was on the second floor for some reason. It's not like I have ever successfully ran away without help from the family. Also where would I go? Part of moving back to the town of my birth was that there is nothing special here. I could not get into any trouble if we moved back here. It is like Dad is afraid I will get mixed up in a gang if we lived in the big city.

I parted from my parents embrace. Walking over to the key shelf I picked the keys for my car. A purple volvo with all the safety features Dad could pack into it.

Looking back at my parents one more time I felt ready to face whatever today had in store. Taking a deep breath I walked out of the front door and into my new adventure.
