Prologue

"NO! MARINETTE!"

The longest three seconds of his existence passed by before a soft coughing shook his wife's body, accompanied by drops of dark crimson blood.

She was breathing. While in great pain, she was still alive.

"Please! I'll do anything, just let her go!"

The identical emeralds, cold and lifeless, stared back at him. A hint of jibe shone in his brother's eyes as a dreadful smirk made its way in his face.

"She has nothing to do with us! You hate me? Take it on me! Let her go…"

"But she does, Adrien," loathing poisoned his voice, "she's so much like Emilie…"

He had yearned for this moment all his life, for that pleading, desperate look in his brother's eyes.

"Felix, save her… I beg you," Adrien whispered, surrendering all his pride left to the evil man in front of him.

"It was never my intention to kill her, Adrien. She's mine now".

Behind him, a beautiful girl clicked her tongue at her man's words.

"Felix!"

But he wasn't paying attention, absorbed in his moment.

"Mine!" he repeated, "your world's mine now! I can do whatever I want with her!"

Adrien tried furiously to escape the two once-friends who were holding him.

"Don't you dare touch her!"

"You idiot, I have far more interesting plans for you both"

Behind his brother, the two well known faces of former friends laughed at his sorrow.

Lila, Chloe… To remember how he stood up for them to Marinette… he was such an moron.

He let his head hang down to hide his tears, he begged any divine forces who'd want to listen to him for help.

How could this all happened? How could've he let her take all the bullets for him? He was finally going to be happy… his princess, his angel, his superheroine…

I've failed you, milady
