Hallöchen, it's me the author of this fic!

I wanted to get a few things out of the way before you start reading so...here I go!

This is my first Evafic I've ever written and I haven't really written anything in months so while you really shouldn't expect a masterpiece I still tried my best. Writing overall is a hobby I picked up just to have fun without reall the thought of being a professional writer lol.

This is an AU, obviously.

Next thing is that I've rewritten this chapter from what it originally was because I didn't like it and was afraid of posting it here.

On another note, this is an Evafic so you can expect violence like it was in the show, but I don't want to write actual gore. Expect some cursing in the future too.

Last thing, English is not my native tounge (Funny thing, that's actually German) so I beg you to tell me about any mistakes you see so I can correct them.

That's really all there is to say soooooo, enjoy!

Tabris smiled

He smiled at the red behemoth known as Evangelion Unit 02 that was currently tightly holding him in her fist. The steel of the beast's palm was cold against his skin and it's image was reflected by the angel's own crimson eyes.

He smiled at the Unit that contained the soul of the woman he once called his mother and is currently being piloted by the young girl he had known as his little sister for his whole life.

Tabris could feel his heart breaking upon hearing Asuka's crying coming from within her Eva. The angel knew that his death was going to break her mind and soul and could only hope that Shinji and Misato would be there for his sister and help her heal so that she would live on.

Death.

Death was mere moments away from now. Tabris' freedom was waiting for him and he was more than happy that his beloved sister will bring it upon him. Soon he wouldn't be a danger to his loved ones or any of the Lillin on the earth anymore. Soon he won't have to live with Adam's call clawing in his chest, begging him to return to the first angel anymore. That knowledge made him happy. "Do it Asuka, destroy me."

The response was immediately coming from her. "NO!", she yelled with all the power she could, her voice hoarse from all the painful screaming she did up to this moment. "My life was meaningful thanks to you, so please Asuka, do this for me and kill me.", Tabris spoke, his tone being so gentle as if he was talking to a small child that was scared of thunder, and in a way he was doing that.

Unit 02 raised it's head looking directly at the angel in it's fist. Tabris mentally noted that Asuka must be looking at him now. He prepared himself and could feel the pressure around him increase as the Evangelion's fist began to ever so slowly squeeze and squeeze and squeeze.

Tabris took his final breaths with the smile on his pale face widening as he remembered his life and all the memories he was able to make since he was first brought into the real world the Lillin lived in, away from SEELE.

The pressure kept growing, Tabris could feel his bones cracking, an ugly, painful sound for his ears only to hear and only for him and Asuka to feel. While the bones of the 17th angel reached their breaking point his core, his S2 organ, basically his lifeforce and heart, was finally giving in to the pressure Unit 02 inflicted on him as well. Slowly it started cracking, then breaking, only moments away from shattering into a thousand pieces and yet not once during the whole process did he take his eyes off Unit 02, nor did his smile falter as Tabris felt the life being squeezed out of him. The last few seconds came closer and closer, his death was there waiting for him and granting him that absolute freedom.

"Never forget that you're my sister. I won't ever leave your side, I'll be there in your heart for as long as you will remember me. I love you Asuka and I always will love you.", the angel spoke with all the affection he could muster, his eyes looking directly into Asuka's even if Unit 02 was between them. The pain started to become unbearable yet Tabris kept his smile and a single thought in his head, 'Farewell my dearest sister. I'll be waiting for you.'

Crack. Crack. Crack. Crack. Crack. CRACK.

And then it was over when Tabris' body and core finally gave in to the pressure. The red behemoth's hand destoryed the angel, crushed the body in it's fist, teared through the soft flesh, bathed it's hand in the angel's warm, red blood and shattered it's core once and for all with a single sickening crunch.

All that was left from the encounter was the sound of Tabris' head falling into the lake made of the LCL dripping from Lillith's body and the sorrowful sobs, tears and screams of a girl who killed the angel that was her brother, who betrayed her trust for 14 years and dared to tell her he still loves her. And she still loved him too. He still was her brother, the only person who never used her, he truly cared about her and now she killed him. Murdered him. His blood was on her hands. A sin she'll have to live with for the rest of her life, something she'll never be able to atone for.

The tears kept coming, her sobs wouldn't stop as the image of her brother smiling and dying by her hands burned itself into her mind and memory, so Asuka screamed and screamed his name until her throat would give up from the pain.

"KAWORU!"

Germany, 12th January 2001,

A small creature that looked like your average six year old boy - except for the silver-greyish hair and bloodred eyes - was excitedly following behind a tall man with short brown hair with a slight hint of red in it and dark blue eyes. To normal people this would look like a normal father and his son walking through a long boring corridor.

But the small silver-haired creature was far from normal, for he was born during Second Impact as one of the fifteen children of the first angel Adam with the sole purpose of returning to Adam when the time has come to initiate Third Impact and wipe the Lillin off of the face of the planet. Yet unlike his brothers and sisters was the silver-haired angel's appearancace human. He looked like them, was able to speak their language simply because SEELE gave him this body, made him this body. The body was barely a year old but looked like the one of a six year old lillin child. When the time comes the silver-haired boy will infiltrate GEHIRN and fullfill his purpose.

He was Tabris, the angel of free will.

Now you may wonder why Tabris was following a lillin man and of all things was excited? Well, while Tabris' body is very similar to a lillin's body did he not grow that on his own, cells from a donator were needed to make this body and the brown-haired man in front of Tabris was that exact donator. Even if SEELE were the ones that artificially made this body so much older than it was supposed to was the man still the donator, in a sense he even was his father.

A father who, as Tabris was told, adopted him and gave him a lillin name, Kaworu Langley Soryu,Robin Langley and Kyoko Zepplin Soryu's son.

'Kaworu, Kaworu Langley Soryu...yes I quite like the sound of that.', the young angel mused as he silently hopped into the red car. Curiously staring out of the window Kaworu tried to take in as much of the real world as he could. The trees and how they almost seemed to smear into one blur of diffrent shades of green as the car drove past them, the bright blue sky with it's diffrently shaped clouds who seemed like they were made of cotton candy and even the other colourful cars driving through Berlin's streets.

Kaworu's mind snapped back to reality when the car stopped by a typical two floored house with a big garden and the vehicle's door was opened for the silver-haired boy. He was greeted by Robin flashing him a big smile, "We're there. Come on get out, she's probably dying to meet you kiddo!"

Hopping back out of the car Kaworu's attention was now focused on his surroundings. The sun stood high giving off a comfortable warmth into the air, birds were sitting in one of the neighborhood's many birch trees happily chirping and a slight brise flowed through the child's silver mane. An astounding thing when you consider how Second Impact influenced the weather and people. The street was made of ten similar yet slightly diffrent houses, five on each side standing oppposite to eachother. A mailbox by his new home's fence was labled 'Langley Soryu'.

Kaworu would've happily continued observing the place with all his senses if it wouldn't have been for Robin taking the child's small hand into his bigger one. The boy's curiousity filled eyes gazed into the taller man's dark blue ones at the action, the adult offered another smile in return before leading his adoptive - and in some way even biological - son to the door.

After a moment of digging in his pockets and fiddling with the silverkeys Robin managed to unlock the door with a simple click.

"Wir sind Zuhause!", the man yelled once he closed the dark grey door, an action Kaworu didn't notice or simply ignored when a wondeful scent hit his nostrils. The scent was sweet with a hint of something the boy would've guessed was chocolate but it was also warm and made Kaworu feel incredibly happy.

Once more the boy's crimson eyes snapped back to reality to look at Robin who was chuckling softly. "Seems like you're already a victim of Kyoko's amazing cookies without even eating them, huh Kaworu?", the man said between giggles but flashed the small boy a goofy grin before taking his small hand again to lead him through the house into the kitchen area.

A woman with long red hair pulled into a ponytail and blue eyes was standing in the kitchen, who was busy nibbling on a small round object that smelled just like the scent from when the young boy entered the house, just much more intense. 'That must be a cookie then...it's smell is incredible.', the child decided in his mind

During the moment Kaworu was in his own world yet again the woman enthusisatically walked over to the two males and - much to Kaworu's suprise - pressed her lips to Robin's for a few moments before ending whatever that was.

The soft laughter echoing through the room from the adults was an indicator that he seemed to have said that out loud. Robin was slighly shaking his head in amusement while the woman knelt down to look the silver-haired boy in the eyes. "That was called a kiss. Two people who love eachother do that.", the woman began with a small smile on her face, "You must be Kaworu then, well I am Kyoko. Welcome to the family sweetie." Mere moments later Kaworu found himself in a tight embrace from Kyoko he happily returned. The child's joy was only growing when Robin wrapped his arms around his little family.

Kaworu wasn't used to this affection or any affection for that matter. He simply decided to enjoy the warm feeling in his chest and the joy he felt when the child realized he felt safe.

Later that night a certain red-eyed child fell asleep between two adults after his questioning of Lillin culture tired the him to no end. Soon enough Robin carried Kaworu's small sleeping figure up the stairs into his own bedroom. Kyoko kissed him goodnight on the forhead. It was a fantastic day and the disguised angel could not wait to see what else the future held for him until the day he would have to return to the first angel.

In the past two months Kaworu's life changed from the tubes filled with LCL and SEELE's cold labs quite drastically. Now he was living in a warm home where he was treated like any other Lillin and had parents, he went to school and was free to explore the world. It was...so much better than Kaworu ever could've imagend.

Even though the boy went to school he also was often enough taken to the GEHIRN branch his parents worked at, soon enough Kaworu was known as the quiet yet curious Soryu-child among the scientists and technicians.

Of course knew Kaworu about that image he had among the workers, but he couldn't help his curiousity when it came to the technical and scientific things that happend there or anything related to the Lillin really. Yet most of the time Kaworu found himself in the presence of what one day would be Evangelion Unit 02, a biomechanical weapon, a copy of Adam, made by man to destroy Kaworu and his kin.

The child was also quite aware of the other two Evas that are currently being in production in Japan, Evangelion Unit 00 and Evangelion Unit 01, under the lead of Naoko Akagi and Yui Ikari.

How Kaworu was aware of these things?Well, Kaworu's own mother was in charge of Unit 02's production and often exchanges about the Evas' progress were made between her and the two Japanese women via video confrence. Sure the silver-haired boy wasn't really supposed to know that, but it wasn't like he would never find out thanks to his connection to SEELE and the Evas.

While his mother was one of the head scientists of Project E and busy with the Evas, was Kaworu's father just as important as he and a team worked on the armor for the beasts that was supposed to protect the mighty giants in combat and keep them restrained.

'Such fascinating creatures these Lillin...they fear what comes from Adam and yet they rely on the exact same thing they wish to destroy.', Kaworu thought.

Today seemed like any other day normally would, the sun shone brightly, the birds chirped happily and Kaworu accompanied his parents to GEHIRN again, like he often would.

And yet something was off.

The small family of three was sitting in the car, Robin was driving and the two adults were radiating uneasiness and nervousness. It made Kaworu uneasy and the boy found himself disliking that feeling very much.

Ten minutes of uncomfortable silence later the car finally came to a stop by the familiar white house. Usually coming home would relax Kaworu but today he dreaded it, something big was going to happend and the boy's stomach started to turn into knots. "Kaworu please be a dear and go to the livingroom, papa and I will be there any moment.", Kyoko asked her son, who obeyed and walked to the room and settled down on the sofa. So he waited and waited for what felt like an eternity. Kaworu tried to relax but today the cushions just seemed too hard and no matter how he decided to sit it was always uncomfortable. The only real comfort the boy had was his trusty penguin-plush he got a few days after moving in with the Langley-Soryus.

Finally both adults arrived, which only added onto Kaworu's anxiety. Don't get him wrong, he wanted to know what was going on so that his stomach would finally stop feeling like it's going to burst any moment, really Kaworu would gladly keep on living without that feeling. Lucky for the boy his father didn't bother to dance around the bush, "Kid...your mother is pregnant."

Kaworu blinked. Once. Twice. Thrice.

'Pregnant...', the word seemed familiar like he he heard it before, then it hit him like someone just punched him in the face. Being pregnant was how lillin children came to be, or more like it was the process of the child growing strong enough during nine months to be born by it's mother. Kaworu read about it in a book and how it's seen as one of the most beautiful things nature had to offer. The silver-haired boy closed his eyes, letting the thought settle in his mind so he can fully understand it. Processing this was easier then expected. His mother was pregnant, she would have a child, another child beside him. Really it wasn't a complicted train of thought but one Kaworu needed to go through anyways.

Funnily enough that brought him to his next train of thought. If his parents had another child it would simply be their child, but what would it be to him? Just another Lillin? The enemy? Or maybe...family? Yes that seemed right. The child would be his family as well. It would be his younger...sibling. A younger sibling, the thought unknowingly to him made Kaworu smile a big dopey grin. He could teach this child everything he knew about the Lillin and he could make it feel the wondeful things he got to feel since having a real family. He would be the best big brother ever to have lived on this planet.

"I'm gonna be a big brother...", it was a wishiper barely audible and the words left his mouth before he could even notice what he did. The boy's eyes sparkled from joy and pride while the grin plastered across his face widened. Kaworu was happy, no he was overjoyed. So much that he didn't really know how to handle those feelings. So instead of thinking the boy merely threw himself into his parents arms and laughed.

To Robin and Kyoko this was the most beautiful thing they ever heard. Their child's laughter made of such pure joy was something the adults will cherish until the end of their days. Kaworu's laughter made the two GEHIRN-scientists laugh as well, it seemed like all the drama and uneasiness was completly unnecessary in the end.

It was only moments later that Kaworu noticed something running down his face or that his vision was blurred. 'Are those...tears? Am I crying?', he thought. 'Yes I'm crying but...but why?'

'You're crying because you're happy.'

'Isn't crying a reaction to something sad?'

'Yes. But people can also cry from joy, anger, fear or relief. And you are crying because you're happy. Happy because you feel loved and can love in return. Because you are happy to get a sibling.'

'Yes...I'm happy. I never felt such joy and yet I never want to let this feeling go.'

For a moment the world seemed fine. A family in an embrace where everyone felt happy and safe, sitting in a place full of warmth. A home. Soon they would welcome another new member to this family and three people would become four. Maybe even five one day? It didn't really matter. Right now there was only them, no GEHIRN, no Evangelions, no SEELE. Nothing but them, it was like heaven.

'You're crying because you're afraid.'

The past nine months were...interesting.

Kaworu certainly wasn't prepared for Kyoko's moodswings. One moment she was happy and in others she seemed extremely sad. He wasn't prepared for his mother's carving for weird food like pickles with chocolate, most of all because Kyoko hated pickles and strictly forbids anyone living in this house from owning them. He wasn't prepared for her ranting about how "this child is gonna cost me my figure" or how "this child better be thankful I'm doing this for nine months" either. Really it was odd but entertaining nontheless. The most obvious change was of course the fact that her belly became more and more noticable and that the baby was starting to kick, according to Kyoko this child was gonna be able to break kneecaps with their kicks. Kaworu found that hard to believe, eventually he noticed that it was a joke.

Despite the fact that Kyoko was pregnant she still went to work, Project E and Unit 02 needed her and her knowledge. The only diffrence really was that Robin was by her side all day to make sure she doesn't overwork herself. Robin was, to quote Kyoko: "Absolutely ridiculous."

Some time in autumn Kaworu learned during one of the video calls Kyoko had with Yui, that she had a child recently too, a small boy named Shinji Ikari.

'Shinji Ikari...', something about the name seemed familiar to Kaworu, as if he met Shinji before. That name, whenever he heard it Kaworu couldn't help but connect it with fear, selfhatred and the desprate wish to be loved. Kaworu of course knew that this was extremely weird, Shinji was barely a bit older than a month so why did he connect such negative things with him? He didn't know, and for now it didn't.

Germany, 4th December 2001,

Nine months passed and the baby was now supposed to come anyday and Kaworu couldn't keep his excitement in anymore. Nine months he waited to finally meet his brother...sister? Honestly the silver-haired boy and his parents didn't even know what the child was gonna be but Kaworu knew it would be a girl, he could simply feel it in his bones, like his S2 organ shouted at him "It's a girl!". Even if it would turn out to be a brother was Kaworu still excited and really really reaaaally wanted to finally meet them.

And as it seemed would today be his lucky day.

It was overall a quiet night, the outside temprature was fairly cold while the inside was warm and comfortable and Kaworu was wrapped in his cozy blanket. Then suddenly at two in the morning the door swung open with full force, colliding with the wall making a horribly loud 'BANG' sound. Robin stormed into the room yelling for Kaworu to wake up as he ripped the blanket away. Said child finally awoke and glared at the man frantically running around his room. If looks could kill the whole lillin race would've gone extinct by this very moment.

Actually if he wanted to Kaworu could easily make this joke become reality simply by following the quiet whisper in his head - Adam's call.

Instead of ending the world though Kaworu decided to eventually get dressed since "get dressed" and "get in the damn car" are the only things he really understood. Seriously if Robin actually would've spoken clear German and not some half yelled, half stammered nonsense the crimson-eyed boy might've managed to actually understand him.

Still tired and slightly dizzy from the sudden wake up Kaworu slipped on some socks and a red christmas sweater before making his way down to the door to get his boots and jacket. At least the inside of the car was warm. Maybe if he relaxed he could sleep again, or so the boy thought. A painful scream rang through the car that finally snapped the child out of his half-asleep state. "Mama? Mama are you okay? Are you hurt?", the boy asked pleadingly as the car took a turn. When did they even start driving?

Kyoko panted but gave him an answer anyway, "I-I'm fine sweetie...but your little brother or sister has been giving me a hard time so we're going to the hospital." Then she mumbled something Kaworu could swear sounded like "I'm gonna have this baby tonight I swear to every freaking god there is."

During the rest of the carride Kyoko kept screaming in pain, it seemed like that little unborn child decided to be especially nasty today. Thank the gods that the streets were relatively empty this early in the morning.

Upon arriving at the hospital Robin and the nurses made sure to get Kyoko into a delivery room so that this child can be born without anymore things getting in the way. It was only too bad that Kaworu didn't even notice what happend around him and so he was left alone at the reception. "Do you by any chance belong to the couple that was rushed to a delivery room?", one nurse asked him. She seemed friendly so the silver-haired child smiled and gave her a nod. The nurse smiled back, "Come on, I'll show you where you can wait."

And wait he did. And waited. And waited. And waited. Two hours passed and Kaworu became tired of sitting around and thinking. So he started to hum a classical song most people would've immediantly recognized as "Ode to the Joy'". It was his favourite song. Something about it simply made him feel like that song would forever be there in his heart no matter what happens. 'Lillin and their music are fascinating...quite facsinating indeed.', he wondered in his mind before resuming to hum the tune.

Hour after hour passed seemingly without anything happening. So Kaworu started to catch up on those hours of sleep he lost that night. The sleep was okay at best, the hospital's chair was uncomfortable and he didn't really dream either. The only truly good thing about this nap was the fact that the small boy was woken up by his father's smiling face. He had bags under his eyes and he obviously cried not too long ago but he was smiling, so something good happend, right?

The question was answered when the older man took Kaworu's hand and was leading him into the room where Kyoko was laying on a bed, obviously exhausted. Sweat was on resting on her forehead and tears were streaming down her face. Then Kaworu finally saw it, the pink bundle resting in Kyoko's arms making a few noises. Curiousity - the boy's most well known feature - overcame him and he started to stare at the small creature. It was small, so so small, vulnerable, fragil and...cute. The baby was so small and absolutely adorable, no one in the room could've denied that.

At this point a wide grin manifested itself on Kaworu's face as he kept on staring at the small bundle in his mother's arms. "It's a girl.", both children's mother started, "Say hello to your sister, Asuka Langley Soryu."

'Asuka...How interesting. I barely know you and yet I already love you.', the boy mused. For reasons unknown to him Kaworu felt like reaching out to Asuka, his pale hand slowly approached the freshly born child and to his suprise she reacted. It was a rather clumsy than precise motion on both children's part but in the end Asuka tighlty held her brother's finger in her tiny hand, seriosuly she had a death grip. Kaworu couldn't help but let his smile morph into a bubbly laughter mixed with tears. At least he wasn't the only one crying since Robin and Kyoko had long given up on trying to hide their tears.

Kaworu was absolutely stunned by Asuka, a Lillin born and made from the love between two people. Such a pure soul who was born into a world with a horrible fate. Kaworu already knew that he wants the Lillin to keep on existsing, this past year clearly showed him that they were capable of beauty and things angels could never dream of achieving. Things that he wished Asuka to see and achieve herself, he wanted her to enjoy life without the danger angels and he himself presented to the Lillin and so he swore something, 'My days may already be counted but I promise Asuka, I'll make sure that you will be granted a life where you won't have to worry about my kin. I promise as Kaworu, as the final angel, as Tabris and most of all, as your brother.'

Meanwhile his mind made a promise, his mouth said something else, "Welcome to the family Asuka."

'Yes, I'm crying because I'm afraid.'

Well you reached the end! I hope I didn't waste your time with this and that you at least enjoyed this a little bit!

Again please let me know about any mistakes you might saw!
