*After playing Nier: Automata, I decided to write a story for 2B and 9S. This takes place after Ending E, which is my favorite ending in the game. While on the topic of the game, it is amazing. If you haven't played it… what is WRONG with you? Jokes aside, it is awesome and SO worth the money. Go for 2B's sweet, luscious thighs, but stay for the rest.

Emotions are prohibited…

Those words echoed through 2B's mind numerous times. Time and again, she would tell her partner, 9S, this sentence. However, after what all just happened, she has begun to doubt that.

Over the past few days… or weeks… so much has happened. Given how much has happened, it was so hard to keep track of the time. What with the arrival of Adam and Eve, learning that the robots' base was under the city the entire time, the outbreak of the logic virus, and the fall of YoRHa, 2B's mind felt like it was trapped in a hurricane. And it all just happened so fast, she could barely even wrap her head around it all. But now that the chaos is over, she could rest easy… Sort of…

Because with the end of all the chaos, 2B was forced to confront something just as bad, if not WORSE – her feelings for 9S. She had honestly hoped this day would never come. And the reason for that was because she did not know HOW to confront them.

Being faced with this was almost enough to make her want the war to keep going, if only to avoid the subject. However, she knew how selfish and horrible that sounded. The war had gone on for ages. Many androids were lost. And with the surviving ones, the war had taken a serious toll on them, both physically and mentally. 2B even heard of a time when the robots had gotten so aggressive and persistent, the androids could hardly keep up. But at long last, all of that is over for good. The war has finally ended, and there was peace throughout the world. Whatever surviving robots that severed themselves from the network and did not go haywire decided to go live in Pascal's village, the amusement park, or the forest kingdom. And the androids could finally put their arms down for good, as the fighting was finally finished.

2B was still in her room within the Resistance camp, sitting on her bed as she thought of 9S and all that they had gone through. She got to thinking about what 9S had told her, who learned it from A2, about how much it tore her up every time she had to kill him. She also learned her true designation was 2E, and that her real task was with exterminating YoHRa units, especially 9S in case he got too curious. And what she was told was true, and she knew it. 2B hated to keep killing him and wiping his memory clean. It caused her so much pain and sadness, she just wanted to take her own life at times, if only to let 9S live. At first, it was no big deal to her, as she had not bonded with him. However, in time, she did bond with him, and that's when the pain began to creep in like a snake in the grass. That was why she always had such a cold, stoic, and aloof attitude with 9S; she did not want to grow too attached to him, so that killing him would be easier and less painful. But instead, it only made the pain worse. Thankfully, she does not have to kill him anymore.

As she thought more about 9S, 2B could not help but smile. Ever since she met him, her life has never been quite the same. Everything about him, from his curiosity, to how certain things can get him so excited, to his combat prowess, to his intelligence, and to his admittedly cute charm, 9S was just an android that was hard to not like… or love. And while she has never said it out loud, 2B has fallen in love with the Scanner. And after everything they have been through, it was no mystery as to why. He has stuck by her through thick and thin. The only time she could remember him leaving her side willingly was when he left to direct a missile to destroy that giant robot that was within the sea. But no matter what adversity she went through, she had him there with her, which seemed to give her a drive unlike any other. Plus, it amazed her with just how protective she was of him. When 9S left to redirect the missile, her pod suggested that she report him as a traitor. A suggestion she shot down almost immediately. And when he was captured by Adam, 2B felt a rage within her like she has never known before. And finally, during their fight with Eve, when 9S was trying to hack him, her pod thought what he was doing was suicidal and told her to leave him. She vehemently rejected it and passionately asserted her faith in him and his abilities.

"9S..." 2B said to herself. "If only you knew how I truly felt about you..."

Deciding that she could no longer hide it any more, she stood up from her bed and ran out of the room, out of the camp, and into the city ruins. Given how big it was, she knew it would not be easy to find him. Especially since she did not take the desert, the forest kingdom, the flooded ruins, or the amusement park into consideration. But now, having realized all of that, she DEFINITELY knew it wouldn't be an easy hunt… or at least she thought.

She barely even made it to the small pond before the sound of a squealing boar and a screaming A2 echoed across the sky. She made a weird face before turning to see the approaching source. It was A2, riding on the back of a large, unruly white boar. It was going surprisingly fast, threatening to throw her off. A2 was clinging to it for dear life, screaming her head off. "HOW DO YOU STOP THIS THING?!" she hollered. 2B could not help but smirk and snicker at her predicament. It seems that the war ending has finally allowed her to relax a bit.

The boar soon threw A2 off of it, sending her flying into a nearby building fragment. The boar squealed at her in anger before running away. 2B walked over to A2, still chuckling. A2 was not amused. "Keep on laughing, I dare you..." she threatened.
"Hmhmhm… I'm sorry A2. It's just not often I get to see someone get thrown off a boar like that." 2B replied. She stuck a hand out for A2 to help her up onto her feet. A2 took her hand and stood up before dusting herself off.
"Stupid boar… good thing we don't eat, or I'd fry that hog." A2 said. 2B chuckled again.
"Well… anyways… have you seen 9S?" 2B asked. "I need to tell him something."
"Hmm… I don't know." A2 admitted. "I've been looking for him a bit myself. I want him to teach me how to properly ride these freaking animals."
"Ok… thank you." 2B said. But as she turned to leave, A2 stopped her.
"Of course… during my out-of-control ride… I thought I saw him over at the factory." she said. "I'm telling you, that boar was out of control, and was going EVERYWHERE within the city." she added, earning some more chuckles from 2B.
"Thanks. I'll begin looking there." she said before running off towards the factory.

And so, not wasting another minute, 2B ran off to the factory to look for 9S. Before she got completely out of earshot, she could have sworn she heard A2 talking about finding the boar and cutting its tusks off. She held back her giggles and ran to the factory. She ran through the city and along the old destroyed bridge, her pod flying overhead to get a bird's eye view of the city. And within no time, she reached the factory. "Pod, have you located 9S yet?"
"Affirmative." Pod 042 replied. "9S is currently at the edge of the broken bridge. He and Pod 153 are fishing."
"Thank you." 2B said before running up the stairs.

And at the top, she looked where the bridge used to be before that battle with the Engels machine, where one of her swords landed in the aftermath. And sure enough, she found 9S, sitting along the edge with a few pieces of scrap metal and robotic fish. She could only conclude that he either had no luck in catching anything good, or was doing catch and release. She walked up to him, the clacking of her boots alerting him to her approach.

"2B? What's up?" 9S asked.
"I… I was looking for you..." 2B admitted nervously.
"Why?" 9S then asked as he stood up.
"Well… you see…" 2B began, her insides experiencing a feeling she has never dealt with before. "I just wanted to see you."
"Oh… ok." 9S said.

The two sat along the edge of the broken bridge. In the back of his mind, 9S could tell something was eating at 2B. However, he wanted to respect her boundaries and would not pressure her into talking. He wanted her to talk on her accord, not his.

"So… the war is finally over..." 9S said suddenly, wanting to start a conversation.
"Hmm? Oh, yeah… it is..." 2B replied. "It feels almost… unreal. We've been fighting for so long, I thought it would never end. But now that it's over… it will take some time to adpat to the sudden changes."
"I agree." 9S replied. "It'll take some getting used to. Still, it's nice to finally rest and breathe easy. It's still a shame that we'll never be able to get you that t-shirt."
"I know. I was admittedly looking forward to that." 2B said, remembering the promise she made him when they went through that abandoned shopping center to reach the forest kingdom. "I was hoping to finally see what a t-shirt was."
"Yeah… I actually did some research on them. Apparently, they were popular tourist souvenirs back when humans were alive." 9S said. "And I also found out how to make one. Maybe I can make you one some time?"
"I'd like that." 2B said, feeling a rare smile come across her face that stunned 9S. "And… perhaps we could get MATCHING shirts?"

9S knew something was up with her. 2B was acting far differently than usual. And he knew one could not change so quickly. He hated to do this, but he knew he needed answers.

"2B… what's going on. You're acting odd." 9S said, looking at her.
"It's nothing..." 2B said, looking forward in an effort to avoid making eye contact. But 9S saw right through her and heard it in her voice. And she knew it too, sighing in defeat. "Ok… I'll admit it… I didn't come looking for just to see you… I came to admit something to you..."
"What is it?" 9S asked, now curious.
"You see… over time… I've begun to have… feelings for you..." 2B began awkwardly. "With you, I've felt emotions the likes of which I've not only not felt before, but am not used to either."
"But 2B, emotions are prohibited. You've told me that multiple times." 9S said. "Pod 153 has reminded me of that." he added. "I mean, I know YoRHa is no more, but I never took you as the type to show… ANY emotions."

9S could immediately feel a shift in the atmosphere as 2B turned her head towards him before removing her veil, revealing more of her face and her steel gray eyes. He could see anger, annoyance, and… HURT in her eyes. "This isn't a joke NINES… I'm being serious, and I expect you to take it seriously too."

9S's attitude immediately changed as well. She called him NINES… something she only did ONCE. But that time was more of a slip-of-the-tongue moment. This one, however, was different. It was INTENTIONAL. And her voice and face told him that she was not kidding around. Now he REALLY knew something was up.

"2B…"
"9S… I know I've never been one to show my emotions around you, or anyone for that matter." 2B began. "But since you and I started working together, that has begun to change, slowly, but surely. Initially, I had to avoid getting attached to you, knowing there would come a day when I'd have to kill you should you ever get too curious. At first, it was easy to do, as I had not really bonded with you as a friend yet. But as time progressed, it got harder and harder to do. It tore me up more and more each time. It got to the point where I wanted to take my own life and have my memories wiped clean just to let you live."
"...How many times did you do it?" 9S asked.
"Too many to count." 2B replied. "I probably killed you in every way that's possible."
"I see..." 9S said.
"Still, that's what I look forward to the most now that the war is finally over. I'll never have to kill you again." 2B said.
"And don't forget, we have LOTS of spare parts." 9S added. "With all the YoRHA models dead, me and A2 were able to scavenge them for good parts. We probably have enough to last us for a VERY long time."
"Impressive." 2B said.

Another moment of silence befell them. "Now… there's something else I need to tell you… Something I should have told you a long time ago."
"I'm listening." 9S said, looking her dead in the eyes. She reached a hand out and touched his face, sending warm tingles across his cheek where her slender, delicate fingers touched. She tenderly moved to remove his blindfold, exposing his steel-blue eyes to her. She blushed at the sight of his face; because of the blindfold, she never got to see how handsome he was.
"Nines… I love you." 2B said, feeling like a great weight was lifted off her shoulders.

As for 9S, he felt that the world around him stopped. To him, there were no birds chirping, no elk yelling, not even the rustling of leaves. Everything was silent. 9S had felt a joy the likes of which he has never felt before. He had only dreamed about hearing those words coming from 2B, never expecting to hear them come out of her mouth for real. But now that it has happened for real, 9S was happy beyond words. And if he were to die that day or the next, he knew he could die a happy man.

9S smiled and took her hand in his. "I love you too 2B." he told her. 2B smiled and hugged his neck, burying her face in his neck. 9S hugged her back as he ran one hand through her soft, silky smooth silver hair. They remained that way for who knows how long, all alone with no one to interrupt or spoil their moment of bliss. When they pulled away, 9S gently pressed his lips against hers. 2B's eyes bolted open, not expecting him to do that. But she could not deny that it felt nice and let her eyes flutter close as she kissed him back. While she did not know much about it, she did learn that this was a way that humans showed affection to one another.

The two soon pulled away, their cores feeling like they were in overdrive. They smiled and rested their foreheads together. "Hehe… this must be what humans felt when they were in love." 9S said. 2B smiled and nodded.
"I agree." she said.

The two remained their on the bridge, wanting to be alone together. Though no more words were spoken on that bridge, they was nothing more that needed to be said. Both had confessed their love and were happy. And the best part of all was that they could be together for the rest of time. 2B was especially happy, knowing she would never have to kill him again.

This was the start of a new beginning.

The End

I hope I did well… though I'm sure the rust is visible. Still, let me know what you think. And if you'd like to see more involving these two, maybe let me know. And as always, God bless and take care.
