It has now been confirmed that Mowgli's grandma Mem, the mother of his father, was with him when she died (got killed by the electric dragon) and he disappeared into the jungle. Mem was from a neighbouring village near Garuda.
His parents have never seen him for a long time because they hate him so much. That's because they think he's ugly.
