3rd POV
The task force stood there, soundless in tears. L was gone, because of Kira. Light was the only one not crying- he tried to keep himself composed. It was a private funeral- it had L's successors (which Light had yet to meet) and the Kira Task Force.
"So... who should speak first?" Aizawa asked.
"Me-" Mellow started.
"Light. As Ryuzaki said, he was his first and only friend." Matsuda interjected.
"Alright, just don't stop me until I'm finished," he muttered. He took a step forwards, in front of the grave.
Light/Kira's POV
I stared at his grave, trying to calm my breathing.
"L, Ryuzaki, whatever," I had started, "I should probably do this. I mean- it's what you tried to do."
"As a detective, you could've been wrong on your accusations- that lead to me being Kira. I can't deny this, not here, not now.
"I'm Kira. Yes, all of your accusations are correct. But no, I haven't killed you." Light pulled out Rem's death note. "Rem did, dying doing so. I wish I had stopped her, but it's too late. The moment I found out my feelings, I couldn't save you." I started laughing, trying to hide my sobs.
"Everything was falling into the plan, besides one thing. I falling in love. Yes, L Lawliet, I fell in love with you. Then I caused your murder." Tears rushed down my face, creating a small puddle. "You know, I'd try to forget the pain, the despair. The misfortune. But it's expected for a death note user."
I turned, facing the audience. The three successors all had the same expression on them- anger and sadness. Well, the rest did. My father also had disappointment written on his face.
"Ryuk, if you would," then he got up, holding the paper from his death note. He touched everyone with it. "This is Ryuk, the first shinigami I met. Remember the saying 'gods of death loves apples'?" Everyone nodded. "He loves apples."
"On my 5th day of being Kira, I had killed more people than any other human," I said, remembering the words. "Yeah, crazy. I know I've killed thousands."
I paused, looking at the grave.
"L's here- well his spirit is anyways. He was here since the start," Ryuk stated, staring at a spot.
"I'm sorry, then. Ryuk, start writing," I commanded. He looked hesitant but wrote my name down and some other things. He read aloud what he wrote.
"Light Yagami will die of a heart attack at 11:30 am. He will become a shinigami."
"Shinigami?" I asked.
"It's expected of you- you killed so many people!"
"Okay," I said, staring at the grave. "5 minutes, the clock is ticking."
I blocked out all the other's cries and yells, everything. I heard L.
"Well then, I'll see you soon, Light." L chirped. "I love you, too."
And with that, Light's heart burst, killing him.
