Niles couldn't believe his eyes. The restaurant that he was planning to take Daphne for their anniversary closed up. He knew there was a crisis going on, but he thought for sure he could've taken Daphne out for a night she deserved. Martin and Ronee had even planned to babysit David for the night too. To keep him from having a complete break down, he decided to do the one thing that kept his sanity up. His brother may be in a different city, but he could still talk to him.

Frasier answered on the third ring. "Niles! Didn't we talk just yesterday?" Frasier sounded exasperated.

"Yes, Frasier, we did, but something has come up since then."

"Oh? Tell me."

"They're starting to shut things down because of the pandemic, and they closed Le Cigare Volant. Frasier, there's no where to take Daphne for our anniversary! I don't know what to do. She's going to be disappointed."

"Well, the first thing you need to do is calm down. Things are closing down here too, as well as everywhere. But I think the way to get through this is to keep calm. Otherwise, it's just going to blow up."

"I know, Frasier. That's why I'm calling you."

Niles could hear Frasier's eye roll over the line. "Great. Now I'm a shrink for my own brother."

"I'm just going to ignore that. The thing that bothers me more is Dad. He's never had anyone to say he can't go anywhere. And you know how his hip is such a delicate spot for him. Even with Ronee, I don't see him taking it well. It would be like taking away his independence again."

"You're right about that. You see him more than I do now."

Niles had been grateful for that. And that his dad has Ronee in his life. "Hopefully Ronee will keep him sane and they'll be ok."

"Like I'm doing for you now?"

"Yes, Frasier. Thank you. I still don't know what to do about our anniversary though. I thought for sure we'd be able to do that at least."

"I'm sure Daphne will welcome celebrating it at home. Be creative. Think of some way that would top even Le Cigare Volant. This has been great, Niles, but I really must run. Call me anytime. I mean it."

They hung up and Niles' mind was already coming up with a new plan.

Daphne awoke on the morning of her anniversary. She wondered what Niles had planned for today, since there was so much going on in the world. She knew they wouldn't be able to go out, like usual. She rolled over to Niles' side of the bed to find it empty. Except it wasn't empty. Niles had left her something on his pillow. She leaned over and took it, wondering what it could be. It was a homemade invitation! Daphne smiled. Niles never ceased to surprise her.

"You are cordially invited to dinner tonight. 7:00 at Le Cigare Crane. It will be an evening to remember. We love you." At the bottom, it was signed by Niles and David.

Daphne shook her head. "What will he think of next?"

She immediately grabbed her phone from the charging station and took a picture of the invitation to send to Roz. She missed being able to talk to her friend in person. But it wouldn't be forever. She sent a quick text. Looks like we're still celebrating tonight! I can't believe it! This is sure to be something to rival getting married in Reno. I'll tell you all about it later. Hope you and Alice are ok."

It was only a few seconds later when she got a reply back. Wow! Even Frasier would be jealous of this! I'll need details! We're doing fine over here. Alice is missing her friends, of course. But I'm loving having her home. Happy Anniversary! I'll never forget your wedding! Even if I wasn't there at the actual one. Just kidding. Have a wonderful night.

Daphne smiled. She'd never forget how she and Niles got married not once, but multiple times so that their family could attend. It has been a fairy tale ever since.

Evening arrived, and Daphne couldn't be happier. Niles had surprised her throughout the day with different things. Usually, she wouldn't be this overjoyed with not having to do the laundry, or do anything in the kitchen. Even David helped. It was already a day to remember.

"Thank you, Niles. You're making this day so much sweeter." She kissed him from behind.

"There's more to come. Why don't you go get dressed for dinner?"

"Get dressed for dinner? You mean like a dress? When we're just staying home?" She smiled and shook her head. "Ok...If you're sure you don't need any help in the kitched."

Niles waved her off. "I got this. Now go on."

Daphne walked back to their room. She could hardly wait for the big reveal.

After picking through several dresses, she found one that was sure to be appropriate. She still couldn't quite believe what she was doing. A dressed up party in their own home.

As she walked out to the dining room table, she startled. Niles was perfectly dressed in a tuxedo. "Welcome to Le Cigare Crane, Mrs. Crane." He pulled out her chair for her.

"Niles..." She breathed. She looked around. "Where's David?"

"In his room. I told him he could join us for desert if he would eat in his room. He actually helped me prepare the meal. I must say, he could turn out to be a chef one day." He left her for the kitchen.

Daphne smiled. Niles was always wondering what David would turn into. But she didn't want to think about that. She took out her phone again and took a quick picture to send to Roz later. She would want to know everything.

After a few minutes, Niles came out with the most exquisite steak dinner. She gasped. "Niles! Where did all this come from?!" She couldn't believe he would actually go out to get this.

"Oh, I have my ways...But let's just say that shopping right now is a nightmare."

She leaned in to kiss him. She couldn't believe he risked going out for her. She knew how Niles felt about germs. Even more so these days.

"Thank you. I can't believe you did all this for me!"

"You deserve it and more. Now come on. Let's eat."

As they ate, they reminisced about their Reno wedding and all that had transpired. They usually had to remember their wedding on their anniversary.

After the meal, Niles turned on the music player and offered to dance. "Dance with me?"

"I wouldn't dance with anyone else." Daphne smiled, remembering the tango. They weren't together then, but they had a lot of other dances to make up for it. Somehow, this dance was even more memorable than the tango.

David then joined them in for desert, as Niles had promised. Daphne looked around in awe. The world might be a crazy place right now, but she had her own little piece of heaven right here. And that's all that she could ever ask for.

The End
